Daisensogoji and Gyukashugoji come to mind; I really like both of those. And is '64/5 Rodan unpopular? He's definitely a step down from '56, but still a cut above the rest.

Godzilla 1955 comes to mind. Not sure why, but I really like the weird face, and especially how feral and mobile it is.

I've always really liked Megalon. It's a huge shame he wasn't in a better movie and hasn't been given another role since. I also really love Guilala's design.

Same for Megalon. I like that he's technically an insectoid Kaiju but they made him a lot different. I think his carapace is really colorful and I like the pattern. It's a shame a lot of the photos of him are a tad outdated and don't do the colors justice. It's also easy to forget he has a nice set of wings and can fly.

I'm a fan of all the Millenium Godzilla suits/designs, which have varying degrees of popularity here. My favorite is the Kiryu saga suit.

Destoroyah and Showa Baragon too? I don't know what their popularity-status is these days.

Ebirah's suit doesn't get discussed much, but I think it's one of the best suits in the entire Showa era.

I always found Ebirah kinda lame but the actual suit used is phenomenal.

I actually don't mind Godzilla's son of godzilla look.

He gets compared to the cookie monster by haters, but I just see it as a 60's practical effect. I love how rustic looking it is.

What's frustrating is there is concept art of it using it's Atomic Breath. Then D&E decided to take that away.



Had it been more like a traditional Godzilla film but with a big Hollywood budget the biggest compliant would probably just be either the story wasn't great or the design not being everyone's cup of tea, not "they raped Godzilla!". Or even if it played exactly the same way but was a Toho film it wouldn't be nearly as infamous, HedorahIsBestGirl said it better than I could, the biggest problem is it was the first American Godzilla film, if it weren't it would have been seen as just another weird experiment by Toho like Godzilla's Revenge or Polygon's anime trilogy and not seen as this black mark on the franchises history but a weird curiosity of the past. It'd still be heavily disliked, but not seen as this thing that ruined Godzilla's reputation because let's be real here, if it wasn't a Hollywood flick a lot of people outside of the fanbase would never even know it exists.

As for Gabara, I'm normally indifferent to him but there were so many clone characters in Godzilla PS4 I would have gladly taken him as a playable character just to spice things up.
