Monster X and Y existing is really funny. They’re cool. Probably a very deliberate attempt to separate this incarnation of Monster X from Lament.

People are speculating them combining into Keizer Ghidorah, but Monster X already has three “heads”. What about Keizer Orochi?

Really hoping Y and Z just have unique transformations of their own to rival X's Keizer Ghidorah. What those could end up being, I don't have the faintest idea, but I'm crossing my fingers it's something much more interesting than "X + Y + Z = Keizer Ghidorah".

We've also got a new version of Mothra coming up soon:

Curious what the "Saint Version" label is referring to.

Probably has an alternate form based on Battra.

Hopefully connected to the Mothra/Godzilla cult in Deadzone?

Read the first issue of The Horror of Godzilla, good god they were not kidding with the mutational effects of Kai-Sei on humans.
Spoiler:
The whole sequence felt like a cross between Shin Godzilla and the Lovecraftian Deep Dwellers. I do have to wonder though if Godzilla is capable of just doing this to people by shooting his atomic breath into storm clouds, why doesn't it seem to really happen in the mainline series. Where are the armies of kai-sei mutants that formed when Godzilla storms numerous U.S cities?

I’m pleasantly surprised with how horrific it actually is. I thought it would be edgy, and it still sort of is, but you’re right.
Spoiler:
First thought was tail humanoids from Shin Godzilla! If we both think that it’s most likely intentional. Would not surprise me if this idea with the rain appears in Minus Zero or future Godzilla creations.

My assumption is that by the end of this comic, the “good news” is that Godzilla will revert to a state where he won’t be overflowing with energy, or they’ll have some sort of medicine to counteract the energy.

Likewise, it’s possible, and I predict this, that Godzilla isn’t the cause and the entire thing is a fakeout. It’s the expiremebtation with Kaisei energy that’s causing the mutations, and it simultaneously woke up Godzilla. Godzilla has arrived because he’s angry, and will put down the mutations/whatever is created. Although looking at the panel it definitely does seem like Godzilla causes it.
Great first issue!

Well good news for one particular person, they announced an ending to Kai-Sei next year with Godzilla vs. Everything. The bad news is it’s the ending of “phase 1” so it probably means IDW might be planning another phase of Kai-Sei down the line.

Huh? According to Bleeding Cool News, which broke the story, it’s just the end of phase 1. It’s a crossover event between the three (four?) ongoing stories.

https://bleedingcool.com/comics/scoop-g ... w-in-2027/

This indicates that the main series will probably be on a hiatus during that run, but considering the contents of what’s being promised this’ll essentially be Godzilla #19-24/25.

Odd that it's the end of Phase 1 considering we're supposed to be Phase 2 per some of the promotional stuff, but eh.

This KaiSUCK era is basically the genital herpes of G comics...absolutely terrible, but it keeps popping up and doesn't go away.

Meanwhile, a very solid G comic story, Roar of the Worlds, created by a multiple Eisner-winner writer and artist and is *FAR* superior to any recent KaiSUCK era era comic (especially the awful on-going series) goes virtually unnoticed around here...says a lot about the state of the "fandom"....

Well for those curious, Roar of the Worlds is excellent. I think it’ll win awards. However, there’s inherently a difference between a one-shot versus an ongoing series.

I hope you get your herpes situation resolved!

Anyways, 2026 November solicitations are out.

Destotoyah seems to be the main villain of the next arc, and I hope they actually improve/increase the action. I appreciate them sticking to the green energy Godzilla even if I don’t like it, though I hope that changes some day.

Horror of Godzilla spoilers
Spoiler:
Looks like I was right that it’s probably going to be revealed Godzilla isn’t the main problem. Looks like the Kaisei zombies are going to transform into something. I could see it being a new monster or some Kaisei Hedorah.
Starship Godzilla
Spoiler:
Cool new Gigan design. Very clearly now a monster they can just attach different weapons on.

Interestingly, they also seem to tease the third issue. I get the impression this next series will be much more action focused.

If I had to guess, Godzilla will probably get some cool new physical form at the end of the third arc in order to take out Destoroyah (they can't really kill Godzilla AGAIN despite what the synopsis would imply) which then leads into "Godzilla vs Everything", or "Godzilla vs Everything" is gonna end with Godzilla getting a new physical form before scuttling off to chill down until Phase 2.

The KaiSei era has kinda lost me a little.

The mainline series has had a lot of cool ideas, but I feel mixed on their execution when going back for a re-read. I’m hoping the 3rd arc will do a solid course correction and win me back over.

I did really enjoy issue #1 of Horror of Godzilla. If nothing else, I’ll definitely finish out that series.

I think that Minilla is going to play a role somewhere down the line. It was a pretty big plot point in Deadzone. I wonder if the Destoroyah plot is going to push for a rebirth of Godzilla like how the movie did.

I've been catching up on the Kai-Sei era comics.

I really like Deadzone and its easily my favorite of the entries. Starship Godzilla has a nice premise, but is so disconnected from everything else that it feels skippable.

Well, almost immediately into the latest issue we get the tie in between the main series and Starship Godzilla. The story is getting confusing to say the least. It’s not getting difficult to follow, but hard to understand how the writers felt that they could take a leap on an idea and not be questioned. Obviously Deadzone has hinted at some less than ethical stuff G-Force has been doing, and that looks like it’s getting followed up on. But the ending just confuses me on why G-Force would…

The comic's already out? I thought it wasn't for a few more days, unless it's one of those early access things.
