Well, it took a while, but I just got the Blu-ray of Konga tonight!
Now, all I need is Yongary, Monster from the Deep on Blu-ray and the Midnite Movies DVD release of Reptilicus and I'm all set!
Again, I'll keep you all posted.
UPDATE: Correction. I also need the Blu-ray release of Speed Racer: The Complete Series as well, but I know I can get that one myself without having to ask for it for my birthday or Christmas.
UPDATE 2: I just remembered I also need Super Inframan, too. That one will not be so easy to get.

At some point, yeah. I've never seen that movie before, so it's definitely on the list.

Oh, good! I've got the original DVD releases of both films from Scorpion Releasing. I've heard that the Scorpion Releasing DVD release of Day of the Animals was a big improvement over the original DVD release from Media Blasters/Shriek Show, while for some strange reason the two Blu-ray releases of Grizzly from Scorpion Releasing were absolutely terrible compared to the DVD release.

I didn't see (or look for) a thread about the latest non-kaiju Toho films you got on DVD, so I'll just use this thread. Versátil Home Video, a niche company here, is having a sale. I picked up six volumes of their Samurai Cinema collection:
Volume 1:
13 Assassins
Bloody Spear at Mt. Fuji
Samurai Rebellion
Three Outlaw Samurai
Kill!
Assassination
Volume 3:
The Last Samurai (1974)
The Men who Tread the Tiger's Tail
Yagyu Clan Conspiracy
The Betrayal
Hitokiri
Humanity and Paper Balloons
Volume 4:
When the Last Sword is Drawn
Samurai Wolf
Bushido
Samurai Wolf 2
Shinsengumi Chronicles
Samurai Spy
Volume 5
The Twilight Samurai
Secret of the Urn
The Hidden Blade
Eleven Samurai
Love and Honor
Zatoichi Meets Yojimbo
Volume 7
Taira Clan Saga
Sazen Tenge and the Pot worth a Million Ryo
Satan's Sword
Satan's Sword II
Satan's Sword III: The Final Chapter
Brutal Story at End of the Tokugawa Shogunate
Volume 8
Miyamoto Musashi
Miyamoto Musashi VI
Miyamoto Musashi II: Duel at Hannya Hill
Miyamoto Musashi III: Birth of the Nito-Ryu Style
Miyamoto Musashi IV: Duel at the Ichijyoji Temple
Miyamoto Musashi V: Duel at Ganryu Island

Re: * Last Kaiju-related films you bought on VHS/DVD/Blu-ray?
The Reptilicus DVD just came today, but it is not the right one. It's the Cheezy Movies release, not the MGM Midnite Movies one.
However, I've seen this one listed in Critics Choice Video's catalog online and it says this release is "In Danish with English audio and subtitles." Can anyone please help me by confirming or refuting this so I can figure out whether I should keep it or not?

The VCI Entertainment Gorgo Blu-ray. The weird sea green spine really pops on the shelf; the surrounding spines are all black or white, so I'm glad it wound up being a nice bright color.

Ordered a copy of this 'Godzilla 1985' vhs from amazon yesterday that the seller says is like new and is an overdue replacement for the Star Maker version that I've had since 1998:

Man, that G85 box takes me back. I never owned it, but I saw it on a rack at Finast quite a few times, alongside SoG, GTTHM, GvG, and probably a few others.

Questions for anyone who still purchases Kaiju-related films on VHS:
Are you collecting them solely for their artwork, or do you play them too? Do you play them regularly?
I’ve seen documentaries where rare VHS horror movies can be worth hundreds of dollars to collectors. Are there any similar VHS treasures in the Kaiju genre?
Which VHS in your collection are you proudest of?

I think I collect VHS releases nowadays mainly if that's the only format a movie's been released on, or if it's a rare piece, like any of the releases in my home country Finland.

I only get them if they're the only format I can watch certain movies on. Though in the case of 'Godzilla 1985', I know I speak for most of the fandom when I say that it's one movie that's been most in need of a proper/official dvd or blu-ray release for years.SpiderZilla wrote: ↑Thu Sep 22, 2022 3:00 pm Questions for anyone who still purchases Kaiju-related films on VHS:
