DNA...a wonderful thing. It can be used to solve crimes, study species of animals with it, and now, they can create a giant Godzilla robot with its own personality with it! :P
Anyway, it was a nice twist to the movie; I think it worked best that way.

I think that may have been an iffy translation. The dub has him saying "Do you like children?" which seems more plausible, even for Japan. The subtitles are probably just worded badly.

That was my initial thought when I first saw that scene in my subbed copy.

Ok, call me a shitty fan, but I don't remember this. Is it from this movie? I'll have to watch it today and pay more attention if it is.

It's in the Japanese audio. After Godzilla triggers Kiryu's flashback, Kiryu freezes and Godzilla leaves. Cue that line (the subs translate it as "Godzilla's leaving").

So, in other words, it's the Japanese language that sounds like that. Cool. I'm actaully getting ready to pop that one in right now, so I'll be on the lookout.

Good point. Maybe they just put the subs in there so we thought that's what he really said. Good stuff...good stuff.

Well the subs were actually taken from a fan translation, if I'm remembering correctly. And the random English seems more like a half-assed attempt to be "cool" to young Japanese, hence the abundance of English in Final Wars.

Really, I thought they were the official subs by Toho.

I'm not sure they make their own subs. The Int'l dubs are done by a third party in Hong Kong. I'm not sure Toho creates any form of translations on their own.
