I finally found the Rodan/War of Gargantuas classic media dvd. $40 for 2 movies isn’t bad. Usually go for $80 plus so I’m pretty happy.
Also had a friend who is giving me a copy of vs. the Sea Monster on blu ray with the titra dub. I’m assuming it’s some one of the reconstructions. Can’t wait.

I just got my taxes back and decided to get myself a nice treat, I finished up my sealed Godzilla VHS collection with Raids Again & the holy grail, Orion's Godzilla vs. The Smog Monster. Raids was $48 and Smog Monster was...I can't believe I'm typing this...$98..oof...
AND IT HAS A BLOCKBUSTER STICKER GUYS I'M A SLUT FOR THAT SHIT

I enjoy having the film's on VHS myself. Just wondering why the shrink wrap? Does this slow the degradation process? I just figured most of these have been used and rewrapped anyway. Don't get me wrong feel free to collect how you like, I was just curious.

I dunno, I wanted them to be as flawless as I could but I also like the video store aesthetic they give the room. They're also worth way more sealed up. And for the record none of mine have been resealed up, it's all vintage from the 80's and 90's (Except for G2000 obviously)o.supreme wrote:I enjoy having the film's on VHS myself. But if it has a BBV sticker on it, it had to have been a rental copy. To my knowledge Orion's G vs the Smog Monster was never released to general retail. All Copies in the wild were are formal video store copies.

This sales spot makes it like Orion intended for a typical retail release. Anecdotally, I can add that it was sold through Tower Records in the mid '90s.o.supreme wrote:To my knowledge Orion's G vs the Smog Monster was never released to general retail.

How do you know about Tower Records T? Or are you just tryin' to pierce my heart with nostalgia .
Ahhh,,,The good old days.
*edit* never mind...I never thought that store was so prolific, though it started right here in Sacramanto, died here too .

I had my eyes on that Yog one. Isn't that auction still going on?

I have no desire to collect outdated video formats myself, but I find it comforting that there are people who do. It makes me happy when I see history being preserved and recorded.

Unfortunately that Yog is the VHS version that has a scene's audio out of sync. If you can ever find the Amvest (Grampa Munster) version, that one has the full movie in tact. I submitted the article to TK back when I had it, unfortunately the Video tape broke in an effort to transfer to digital. Fortunately another fan had a perfectly good version I was able to make a copy for myself

My cocky ass didn't end up winning it, someone paid like $38 for i, oof. Couldn't justify continuing to bid on something I had no attachment too. It wasn't the cover art I liked anywayo.supreme wrote:Unfortunately that Yog is the VHS version that has a scene's audio out of sync. I ordered the 3-disc Shin Godzilla Blu-ray from CD Japan because it's cheap right now ($32, cheaper than the single-disc Godzilla movies reissued last year) and because I want a copy with all the Japanese text in it. I rounded the order out with the remaining Heisei Godzilla Blu-rays I don't already own.

Went all out....bought pretty much half of all Godzilla movies today in a modern format. Now my G movie collection is up to date (less '98 GINO & anime movies)
Toho Godzilla Collection volumes 1 & 2 DVD box set
Godzilla 1984 DVD
Shin Godzilla 2 disc Blu-ray
& this dvd set that contains the hard to find Godzilla vs Biollante movie. Not spending $40+ on the Biollane DVD by itself.
