Many worlds began to feel the horror of Sutekh's tyranny. Swarms of his hideous underlings overthrew entire cities, rocked entire nations, and threatened life on entire worlds. Some worlds were doomed from the start; with no protectors to watch over them, it took little time for Sutekh's legions to overwhelm what mortals lay there. But not all were so unfortunate. Some had heroes willing to protect them from such horrors, able to stave off the threat at least for a little while.

Some were even more blessed, and had a god watching closely.

Motes of light watched over hundreds of planets throughout the multiverse, sending out calls for help to their master. Near the worlds so blessed with the overseers of radiance, shapes bent through the space-time continuum, appearing in the shape of great doves. Spreading their brilliant pinions, these shapes dove down to the planets below to investigate the interference. The celestial avians quickly got to work down on earth; unleashing torrents of light to destroy the horrors that infested these worlds.

But it would not be enough. For every dove that came, hundreds of thousands of The Destroyer's minions surged forth upon the world. It was a losing battle; the best the entities could do was try to stem the flow of these horrors, keeping them locked down as they emerged from their portals.

From beyond the veil of reality, a radiant shape watched these events unfold from within a domain of brilliant light. It was truly distressing to this entity; the worlds it had spent so much time safeguarding and nurturing had all been threatened at once by this extradimensional menace. It angered the being; what evil could create such an assault on life at a grand scale? More importantly, who could organize such an assault? The entity was no fool; it knew that something of this magnitude did not happen without preparation. Someone was controlling these events and was benefiting from them.

The entity would not stand for this.

Shifting at the speed of light, the entity transformed into a sphere before slicing through the dimensions, seeking aid for this immense threat...

The minions of the Destroyer spread through the multiverse like a wave of ruin, but not all of the rifts they entered answered with fear and panic. Some tears into the multiverse simply should not have been invaded. Had the mindless hordes known one specific rift would have been full of bears, they might have thought twice before entering.

But just as the rifts brought beings into the world, so were beings pulled from it and thrown into the great darkness beyond...

Sutekh’s mind was bombarded with stimuli from his servants. He sensed, saw, heard, smelled and tasted all that they did. They all showed him the same thing. Life! Endless, pointless life! Disgusting vermin! Breeding, multiplying, creating, evolving! A limitless tide of possibility seeking to drown him! In every angle of creation a possible threat lurked! That was why life was his enemy, for where there is life there will inevitably come danger!

Sutekh gazed on the boundless wonder of creation... and it only strengthened his resolve to see it all turned to dust.

Across the multiverse the Destroyer’s servant went on a rampage of wanton destruction. As the Osiran had slain them without hesitation, they now did un to others. They didn’t know pain or fear but they were not mindless either, for horde could adapt as needed. Their touch alone was death to many life forms and were that was not enough, they brought the fraction of their master’s mental power that animated them to bear.

But for all the seeming randomness of the violence, it was anything but. The destruction and slaughter was all a calculated ploy to draw out those their master sought. In fact it had already done so, for in several realities beings who would have been enemies of Sutekh were forced into the open only to find the horde focus it’s full attention on them. But as of yet they still had not found the true prize Sutekh coveted, this Dantie and the Heart that was bonded to him. Nor had they yet to find any allies.

But the Lord of the Red Desert was patient, and should his all his servants be defeated... it would be of little effort on his part to replace them all in full.

The servants of the Destroyer were fast and relentless, that much Nichelle had to respect. They reached for her with their steaming limbs, but she was able to swerve and weave between their strikes, and lash out with her own blades. She cut through them like they were butter, spilling their blood upon the ground and rendering each and every one a non-issue.

How long had it been since the last time she had fought like this? Years, ever since she had joined the Cheshire Cafe. She had no reason to stick out, to portray herself as anything but human, but not anymore. Now she had no choice, and she was going to use her talents to their fullest.

And they were none the rustier despite the lack of use.

One of the minions latched onto her arm, and pain shot through her body. She could feel her skin begin to sizzle and melt beneath its grasp, but that was all the fiend was going to get. She spun, and dug her free blade into the head of the abomination, then ripped it straight upward, cleaving its skull in half. Another swiped at her legs, but she leaped up just high enough for it to pass underneath her, and she drove both of her knees into the top of its skull. The creature crumpled beneath the strike, and without missing a beat, she swung her blades to her right and cleaved the top half off another minion.

The bad news for her was there were so many of them, and she was only one. The good news was, they were all focused on her, and the people in the town were fleeing far away. Not one thanks, but only screams of terror. She understood, and didn't care. She was only following orders.

"So these are the powers at work. Interesting."

Persephone leaned in closer to the footage shown on the screen. The probes had ended up across several different worlds, but each one showed the same event: hordes of strange monsters swarming over and ripping everything they came across to shreds. Waves of death and destruction were pouring out of countless rifts, and some worlds were being overrun. Others had defenders or armies to fight back, but for the majority, it was over as soon as it had begun.

"The source of these anomalies remains elusive." Laeptus reported. He was a towering mass of metal barely hidden beneath a black tattered cloak, with sharpened claws clattering away at the keyboard and punching in numbers. A bright red light looked over at Persephone and at Lilith, who was also watching the screen. "The energy fluctuations are unlike anything detected in or near the Abyss the past 700 years. No signs of similar energy spikes in or near Sheol, I am thankful to report, but these are being detected far and wide across countless realities."

Persephone rubbed her chin. "Everywhere but here?" She raised an eyebrow.

"I guess we're lucky. If they did try, they would get nothing from us." Lilith boasted, puffing her small chest out proudly. "They knew coming here was a losing effort."

"Unlikely." Persephone now bit her lower lip. "Laeptus, keep constant surveillance of more energy spikes, and if possible, retrieve the bodies of a few of these creatures. Perhaps we can learn what they are, and how powerful they can be. And tell Mara to be careful. I would rather not have her suffer an accident while retrieving lost luggage."

"What are you suggesting, Persephone?" Lilith asked, but Persephone ignored her. Even if the satori tried to read deep into her mind, all she would find would be garbage thoughts, random nonsense specifically designed to keep the Queen of Sheol's inner thoughts a secret.

"If only Nyvanna was here..." she muttered, which caught both Laeptus and Lilith by surprise, but they didn't press the matter.

Puppeteered by the ill will of their master, the pale-skinned humanoids surged across the multiverse. Like a disease, their cold malice stabbed deep into the living warmth of most inhabited worlds, seeking to snuff out that heat. But like in any warm-bodied creature beset by a disease, they were met by a fever. They were met by fire, flames stoked to try and burn them out.

On some worlds, those flames were stamped out easily. On others, the fire smouldered on, holding its own even as it was pushed back. On a few, they were hot enough to incinerate the invaders.

And on one, a white-hot flame, a pillar of indomitable heat, soundly ignored them.

Sitting on the second floor of a rundown roadhouse in the middle of a red wasteland, a woman in an open robe over a cotton shirt and khakis watched the carnage below her. The pallid monstrosities set upon the patrons on the ground floor, grasping them on the arms or around the necks. The screams nearly drowned out the sizzle of flesh. Nearly.

The woman seemed unfazed however. She did not panic and try to flee. She did not leap down to help. She only watched, drinking as she did. It did not take long for her to finish her mug, as she was practically throwing beer down her throat. When she finished, she gave a small, annoyed sigh, threw her mug away, and reached over the charred, headless body of a fellow patron for another. The blanche creatures had charged up the stairs too of course. Their bodies laid all around her. She had gotten tired of dispatching them though, so she had shattered the stairs. Now her balcony view was an exclusive one.

"Thanks for the entertainment, boys," the woman grunted after another long swig. Her voice was much smaller than seemed appropriate for her brazen attitude.

Before moving onto the next drink, she tossed down the mug and the last of the beer with it in a sort of toast. "It's been dull around here."

"What're you doing?" Jackie said.

"We've got some work to do, my temples are hurting." Dana uttered.

"Oh right," Jackie said.

Once they reached the other side of the bridge, Dana released her talons from Jackie's shoulders. He rubbed the indents uncomfortably. "What have I told you?"

"Oh yeah, sorry," Dana apologized. You're a squishy little meat balloon. Handle with care.

Where they were standing looked like it was made of something resembling bamboo chutes tied together tightly with some type of vine. It was hard to believe that it could hold up the hundreds of people who would be on it at any time. Large leaves sat atop supports overhead, allowing the rain to drizzle only so slightly onto the pods below.

Said pods were sleeker than some of the surroundings, only having some vine-based flourishes to allow them to blend in better. Dana found them ugly to look at but there were some odd rules about what was galactic standard. Dana was pretty sure most people would know what a transport pod was.

Dana entered the command on a panel and the pod opened. She and Jackie stepped inside.

"When are you going to take that out of your mouth—"

Dana reached into her coat pocket and withdrew an electronic object silver in color with two wide sections on either end. One fit neatly into a curved segment of Dana's horn. It was as if they were specially crafted for her.

"Hide my face again, harbor in the shadows
Feel this weight of sin hammering away
Die with the guilt of a thousand AWOL soldiers

Not the song she was thinking of. It changed:

"Hey (hey), I'm your life..."

Perfection. Dana removed the flower from her mouth and smiled to Jackie, "When I did that."

"Did what?"

"You might want to sit down."

"Say wha—"

The pod dropped at staggering speeds, racing toward the ground below. The transparent floor gave them a full view of the foliage and mulch as they approached. Jackie stumbled back but Dana caught him casually with one hand. She was perfectly anchored by her tail again when the pod switched directions.

It seemed to slow. Dana released Jackie and stared outside. The pod glided past the enormous trunks of the trees which supported the town above. Holes seemed naturally formed for bridges both bound together from planks and forged by the hand of organic technology forged by hands beyond many civilizations.

Here on Nexus, the world itself was tamed.

They passed by a herd of beasts seventeen meters in length, black fan like heads with flat fin-like horns hobbling across on thick tree trunk legs as their claws raked roots and smaller creatures from the ground. The pod slowed deliberately to show them, which were followed by smaller creatures with extended noses who sniffed the animals' tracks. A creature looked and howled at the pod. Dana leaned against the window to gaze at them. Some time in the past, their species were in competition.

The pod took them to the coast. The pod stopped, this time on a seemingly ramshackle platform crafted from cracked wooden planks. They descended the stairs before approaching the beach. Here, day had yet to come. In the distance, lights floated in the darkness under a purple sky.

This place they were seeking was a little out of the way. Ooh, look at me. See what I'm doing? I'm goddamn walking.

Admittedly, Dana's feet were not well suited for this type of terrain. With her spread apart talons, she felt more like she was sinking than that she was walking.

After thirty minutes of a trek, they met their destination. It looked to be cobbled together from ancient boats, with the massive bow jutting up from the sand with a wooden block cobbled for the back. A light on the side dimly illuminated the dock reaching out to sea.

Inside, two dragon people were playing a strange game. One called "poker." Colored a bright green with brown and orange lines bleeding along the chinks in her scaly armor, one leaned back and examined her cards. Her claws gripped the table to prevent her from toppling as the other one — a pink creature with pale grey spots around her eyes — smiled at her cards. She withdrew the large cigar-like object from her mouth and guffawed.

"What?" muffled the green one through her own cigar.

"Jules, I think I've got you beat," proclaimed the pink one.

"Yeah right," Jules said, "show 'em."

The pink one laid the cards down and it was Jules's turn to laugh. She laid her cards out. "Read 'em and weep, Kenzie."

Dana threw the doors open. "Guys, the whole city's going to smell you."

"DANA," the two greeted.

Jackie Chan coughed and gagged on the smoke filled air. He waved his hand in front of him as he tried to find shelter. He was pretty sure that with their immunity to toxins, they didn't realize just how noxious the air was despite its pleasant fragrance. He had to step outside while they put out their cigars.

Kenzie rubbed her twin nubs against Dana's horn, "How's my favorite girl?"

"Fine, but–" Dana handed Kenzie the flower. Kenzie observed the flower lovingly before chomping down on it and swallowing it, stem and all. You could have at least tasted it a bit. "–you felt that rumble, right?"

"Oh yeah," Jules said. "That was weird."

"And you know what weird means, right?"

"It means," Jackie said, "that we should get going."

6 quadrants away from the Ninja Realm...

Ubel and Daeva cruised through the empty vastness of space, scouting any nook and cranny they could for any signs of the anomaly that caused the Heart to go crazy. It was impossible for them to keep up physical communication out here, so they conversed via telepathy to constantly keep in touch.

“Ugh, what is this, like the 6th or 7th quadrant we’ve been through so far?” Ubel inquired.

“The 6th, and I haven’t seen nor sensed anything out of the ordinary so far, have you?” Daeva responded.

Ubel shook his head, “Nothing to report here, sis. At this point, I’m starting to think we’re not gonna get anywhere out here.”

Just as soon as he said that, the two ninjas were met with at least a dozen or so rifts in space opening up in front of them. Wasting no time, Ubel and Daeva manifested both their respective armor and weaponry onto their persons, and got into defensive positions.

“What’s going on?” Daeva asked.

“I don’t know, but I’m sensing a ton of energy radiating through those portals, and it doesn’t feel friendly.” Ubel stated and poured massive amounts of energy into his powerful hammer, Soul Ravager.

Clutching Swift Redemption tightly, Daeva kept her head on a swivel, just waiting for whatever to exit to do so. As if to fulfill her wish, near seconds later, hundreds of the Destroyers minions flooded from out of the portals, their bloodthirsty cries silenced by the airlessness of space. Their eyes locked straight onto the ninjas and charged them with blind ferocity.

“Get your game face on, Peri, we can’t let whatever those things are leave this area.” Ubel said firmly.

“Way ahead of ya.” Uttered Daeva’s afterimage, before dissipating into nothingness. Ubel looked at where she had just been, and then turned to Daeva already going to work on blitzing through the Destroyer’s soldiers. Quickly registering the situation, Ubel rocketed straight into the action unfolding.

Unfortunately for the ravenous servants, Daeva was unrestricted in her monumental speed out here, able to travel at hyper speed without much consequence. With that, time was essentially stopped dead in its tracks in her POV, allowing for her to utterly eviscerate dozens of foot soldiers without them even registering what happened. Stopping shortly to allow for things to catch back up, Daeva witnessed several dozen minions explode into cleanly cut slabs of meat and limbs. Whilst appreciating her work, one of them charged from behind, lashing out with its long searing limbs. The beast struck the minor ninja, but it looked on in confusion as its arm went both straight through, and its hand had been severed off. Then, before it could even register what occurred, the servant felt the upper half of its head slide away and the life soon leave its body.

While that one died a swift and clean death, Daeva continued her unfair slaughter on the other members of this merry band. Out here in space, Daeva couldn’t use the devastating winds from her Ki Storm nor Hyper Tornados to make short work of these abominations, but she didn’t mind too much; she was having a swell time getting some practice in.

Ubel grabbed ahold of one minion by the neck and squeezed firmly. The head popped like confetti and Ubel then used the lifeless body as a makeshift battering ram to slam headfirst into a few others. The largest ninja hurled the limp body away, turned on a dime, and swung his hammer at a small group of servants with enough force to virtually eradicate their bodies down into clouds of flailing arms and legs. The blow sent a rolling shockwave hurtling through space for miles on end. Ubel felt the claws of one scrape harmlessly against his thick armor, and with a type of velocity that one felt in their stomach, Ubel whipped around and pasted the thing’s head and shoulders with an enormous punch. As dozens of others swarmed him, Ubel telepathically signaled for Daeva to shield her eyes, before he released an AOE type of solar flare that was seen from 3 miles away, and seared the eyes of his enemies, leaving them reeling and retreating from the pain.

Using this window, Ubel hurled Soul Ravager at them like a giant boomerang. The terrifying weapon obliterated its blinded targets, making a beeline towards a few more until Ubel teleported in front of it, caught the hammer, and used the built up momentum to hurl himself like a cannonball at more Destroyer minions. They immediately scattered in every direction, but were instantly cut off figuratively and literally by Daeva, whom splattered them like bugs using her powerful legs. Working like a well-oiled machine, Ubel and Daeva skillfully made short work of the remaining minions around them, using each other as offensive and defensive support and leverage to utterly overwhelm the creatures.

Soon enough, the ninjas found that they were all out of minions, and the portals from which they came from were closing. The warriors decided to take the opportunity to stop and get a quick breather.

“What the hell were those things?” Ubel muttered.

“You’re asking the wrong girl that question, Ubie,” Daeva said, “They fought like they didn’t think for themselves, almost like they had nothing to lose.”

Ubel nodded in agreement, “I did notice that, how even though their buddies were getting killed left and right, they never retreated, never tried any different tactics, nothing. They just kept throwing themselves at us.”

Daeva rested a hand on her hip, “We’ve got to tell Dante and Evron about this.” She was about to make a psychic link back home, when suddenly, more rifts appeared out of the blue, and this time... There were at least hundreds of them.

Ubel frowned underneath his helmet and clenched the handle of Soul Ravager tightly. “Hold that thought.” He murmured.

In seconds, thousands of the Destroyer's servants burst from the rifts and surged towards their ninja prey. Ubel and Daeva quickly readied up and prepared for round 2.

Through the quaking multiverse continued to progress the destructive forces, their hatred for life and desire to serve their master driving them ever onwards on their campaign. But something else crossed the multiverse. Through the multitude of dimensional rifts torn open, a desperate echo, like a faint ripple on water, could be heard. The Borskall heard it, and the Olgfolk heard it, and the Wurgs and the Hofur and the Hvalhaj heard it; the bear god that watched over them heard it. Their heads turned from their fallen opponents, the bodies of the mobs smashed, broken and mauled in various ways by the ferocious might of the Colossians, towards that burning red star that pointed the North. It was the Northern Eye, through which the bear god Ristaang peered.

No words were ever shared, but the Colossians knew what the Great Beast wanted. Whatever Ristaang felt, they felt it in their Blood.

The message was understood - some would answer the call, others would stay and protect their world.

---

In the relentless snowstorms of Colossus' polar north, a lone light dove, grounded by the harsh winds and whipping snow, cried its call for help. The plaintive sound was drowned out by the howling winds, barely audible above the loudness of the cold gales. It looked around, but it could not see past the falling snow. What it could do, though, was listen.

Just nearby were the sounds of critters shuffling in the snow. Among the noises of their steps were those of a much larger creature. Flashes of blue lightning accompanied by rumbling thunder sparked in the darkness of the night, allowing a faint glimpse of what Sutekh's followers were fighting. Whatever it was, it was massive. It was huge.

And it was mighty. The sounds of the smaller ones being snapped like twigs and tossed aside resounded all the way to the dove's ears, but there was not a sound from the bigger being itself. It was almost eerie.

There was silence. No more snarls and howls from the small creatures. They had all been dealt with.

Through more glimpses of lightning, accompanied by the sound of rumbling thunder, the light bird could see that humongous beast turn towards it. The lightning stopped, but the sounds like thunder continued - the dove realized it was not actual thunder, but the sound of the beast's footfalls. The shadow of the giant grew larger, its resounding footsteps louder. As it approached, the dove could hear ragged breathing like that of an injured beast, deep and difficult.

It gazed up and saw a blue glow glowing brighter as the massive thing approached. The dove cried louder in distress, trying to flap its wings, but its feet were frozen, trapped in the snow. Was this the end? Would it die here, devoured by one of the large powerful mammals that called this harsh, cold world home?

It opened its eyes and realized the giant was directly in front of it.

Frozen in fear, the bird slowly looked up. It saw that the peculiar blue lights were from the great coat the beast wore. The wind made it whip around its feet. Following the blue glows all the way up, the dove could then see yellow glows; the creature's eyes, which were fixed onto its tiny form. One of them was obviously blind, but the other regarded the bright bird coolly.

It would have been completely effortless for the burly creature to end the bird's life, and yet it simply stood there, studying it calmly. For what felt like an eternity, the two creatures — one small, the other giant — observed each other, until finally the large one moved. Long claws like steak knives dug in the snow around the dove. For all of its rugged and intimidating appearance, the giant was surprisingly gentle and tender picking the bird up. It stood back up, bird cupped up in its hand. The iron was cold, but the bird felt warmed by the kindness of the giant. It was not a foe, but a friend.

It was one to answer the call for aid.

To the two ninjas surprise, the new horde didn’t advance on them. They collectively just floated in the void, looking at them with what the pair could only call recondition. It was disturbing and they gripped their weapons tighter in anticipation of what was to come next. Then, as one, the horde closed their eyes...

Then they snapped open, unleashing beams of green light. The beams merged together into a single great radiance that engulfed Ubel and Daeva. They tried to shield their eyes from the bright light but found that some forced compelled them to remain as they were. Ubel was the first to realise what was going on. Someone, or something, was forcibly establishing a link with their minds. He tried to push back against it, to stop the violation but try as he might the will pushed him back with horrible strength. He then began to feel the presence more specifically. He heard Daeva gasp and knew she was going through the same thing. Then it appeared fully in their minds eye. A terrible apparition, a face that was a cross of equine and canine features. It’s skin was dark and gaunt. At the end of it’s muzzle was a mouth filled with sharp teeth, above which were a pair large nostrils. The head was crowned by a large set of ears that stood vertically upward, ending in perfectly strait edges. But most terrible where it’s eyes. Glowing with the same green light that now ensnared them, the siblings felt nothing in those eye apart from cold, hard malevolence.

“Who are you?”

It’s voice was as horrible as the rest of it. It was soft, calm, almost reasonable but dripped with contempt and threat. Umbel and Daeva redoubled their efforts to fight the thing but the second they showed resistance, the pressure they felt turned to agonising pain.

“Attempt to defy me again, and I will shred your nervous systems into a million fibbers. Identify yourselves?”

.......................................…

“You are an interesting one.”

The women finished her drink and turned around. Standing in the middle room was a single member of the horde she had just killed. This one was a female, dressed in a plane white dress that was clearly ill-suited for conflict. In fact none of them had been dressed for combat. Unlike the others, it didn’t show any sign of hostility. When it spoke, it was with a voice that couldn’t have been it’s own.

“You understand the nature of reality, the truth that lays pasted the delusions of morality most civilised beings suffer from.”

The puppet walked towards the women, completely ignoring the carnage strewn about the place.

“Your talents as wasted on a single, pathetic world such as this. Hear my proposition. Serve me truly, and I will free you from this cage. By my side you shall travel the multiverse and never taste boredom again.”

........................................

Somewhere in Shoal, a rift in reality opened. Unlike those in other worlds, this one was small and it’s energy signature almost too weak to be noticed. Though the portal stepped a single servant of the Destroyer. This one had once been a young women, with all her future ahead of her... till her master had come. She was adorned in an extravagant, frilly pink dress that went down almost to her ankles. Her long, light hair fell around her head in a wave curls, while upon her head sat a wide rimmed hat that matched her dress. She would once have been considered very beautiful, but the spark of life had left her body and taken some her natural attractiveness with it. Her once smiling face was now hard and stern.

While the Destroyer unlashed chaos across many worlds, he also sent some of his puppets to others alone. Their function was more surreptitious though no less sinister. If the hordes were the hammer of Sutekh, these single agents were the knife he held behind his back.

Ubel’s head felt like it was being torn apart from the seams, and the pain was increasing tenfold by the second. He did his absolute best not to scream in agony as more and more waves of unrelenting mental assault pounded into him. He used all of his psychological strength in an attempt to push back against the mysterious aggressor, and could feel Daeva trying her best to help. Ubel tried pulling his eyes over to look at Daeva, but his attempts were met with even stronger bouts of pressure that kept his eyes firmly locked in place.

“Daeva... Daeva, you okay?!” Ubel reached out psychically.

“U-Ubel... It... It hurts!” Daeva cried.

“Just stay with me, sis, focus in on my voice, alright?!”

“I-I can’t... I can’t do it!”

Daeva was an incredibly powerful individual for her age, but Ubel could feel her starting to slip. He needed to think of something quickly to help distract her before Daeva lost her grip completely. And then, Ubel’s eyes glowed brightly as he thought of the perfect thing.

“You... You remember when you and I sss-stayed up aa-all night and ate a bunch cookies with warm milk?” Ubel painfully asked.

Daeva gritted her teeth as a few tears inadvertently began to roll from her eyes. “Th-that... Was a... Long time ago... Ubie!” She responded.

“Y-Yeah... But it was fun... Right?!”

“YY-Yeah, it... It was a lot of fun...”

Ubel gave a little nod, “There’s my girl, just keep focusing on that memory no matter what, okay? Don’t let him in!” He continued pushing with all his might against Sutekh’s enormous grasp, and could feel Daeva start pushing back harder as well, if not only but a little bit. “Whoever you are... You’re gonna pay for hurting my baby sister!” Ubel growled.

The Destroyer was infuriated by the siblings resistance, as hard as he tried to push into their minds he just couldn’t breach the final barrier. It wasn’t possible! How could they be holding him at bay?! Then the Osiran realised his error. For as mighty as he was, even he had limits. His mind was inhabiting countless bodies, over billions of worlds across the multiverse. It was an extraordinary feat but one that pulled him in many different direction simultaneously. He couldn’t focus his mental powers any further without risking the stability of his forces. Curse these insects!

But they had unintentional done his bidding. The male had called his sister Daeva, and she had called him Ubie... short for Ubel perhaps? He had been right. His forces had found the kin of the one he sought.

“Dante.”

The ninjas reacted with shock upon hearing their brother’s name on the tongue of this terrible being. Their shock allowed his face to come to the for fount of their minds... and for Sutekh to see it. A terrible excitement swept over the siblings the dark one realised how close he was to achieving an important step in his plans. The Destroy redoubled his efforts to gain full access to their minds, on the mental plain Ubel and Daeve saw a dark hand reaching out to touch the image of their brother.

“NO!” they yelled in unison, their love for Dante giving them the strength to push back even harder against their enemy. Sutekh roared in frustration, but try as he might he simply couldn’t summon anymore power to the battle, not without his grip slipping on his army. He was tempted, so sorely tempted to do it. But if he did then he would lose battles that, now he had begun to assault the mutliverse, he couldn’t afford to abandon. Enemies not slain now could join these ninja at a later date and make future battles more costly. Besides he’d already found the siblings of his quarry this easily, finding his true prey shouldn’t prove much harder.

The Destroyer let go of Ubel and Daeve’s minds and the light faded from his servants eyes. The siblings breathed a sigh of relief... but couldn’t shake a horrible feeling of dread. Ubel especially, for he had sensed a hint of what they truly faced.

The rock chambers echoed with the dull pattering of metal boots. Why the god was on this planet was his business and his alone, although it wasn't as if someone were to find it they were going to chant "Got ya!"

The god always wore a mask, one of ancient stealth. None of his features could be seen through it. He would blend seamlessly into the environment if it were not for the moving image projected in front of him, depicting a disgraced individual aimlessly wondering. He was no fan of being a voyeur, but it was needed.

He stepped back curiously, suddenly seeing particles stretch from the cave walls like a web, converging into separate points and forming the shape of limbs, a torso and a head. This went on for a few seconds before the man before him was fully realized. It was another god. "La'tomer, what brings you to this place?"

"Well, I wanted to be sure of something," La'tomer said.

"And that would be?"

"The Wrath detected mass fighting across several inhabited wars, including the use of nuclear arms. So he manifested to rain down some divine anger, but the thing is–"

"They were not fighting each other, they were fighting something else."

"So you do know," La'tomer said. "Do you have an idea of who it is exactly?"

"I have a clue."

"I'm guessing that is not our culprit?" La'tomer said wryly as he pointed at the feed of the space traveler. "So what is he, exactly?"

The dragon people pranced excitedly down the beach, Dana hand in hand with Kenzie. "So, you think the gods know about it?" Kenzie said.

"Absolutely," answered Dana.

"They'll just spin up some bullshit to keep us dumb," Jules remarked. She ran up behind Jackie. He flinched but she snatched him into her arms and onto her shoulders. "I'm your ride tonight, little guy."

"Aw fuck." Jackie shook his head. He wasn't going to lie, the night was pleasant. The crescent moons cast reflection onto the glassy sea. In the distance, they could see the silhouette of an island.

"Well, that's a good thing for us," Dana said. "Gods don't wanna say, they can't do anything." She and Kenzie twirled around before the latter seemingly flung from her hand and straight into the ocean.

Kenzie's head poked out, "Come on guys, water's brisk."

Dana leaped into the air, diving nose first into the water, soon followed by Jules with Jackie on her shoulders. With powerful thrusts of their hands and feet, they began a forward motion that used their tails as a means of propelling themselves forward.

"Remember," Jackie poked Jules on the head, "keep me above water."

For every one that Nichelle cut down, a dozen more came to replace it. They had no sense of self preservation, no morality to hold them back, only a desire to fulfill their masters desires.

Nichelle ducked low beneath the arms of one and brought her blades up into its stomach, running it through cleanly. Energy that had been building up within her arms discharged out the back of the fiend and into hundreds more that had been charging from that direction. Limbs and bodies were torn apart from the kinetic blast, yet Nichelle had to brace herself to not be sent flying in the opposite direction.

Worse, she had to catch her breath, and as she did the hordes of minions converged on her. She readied herself for the worst...

"AWAY GET HER!"

The sound of that sick voice was accompanied with the crack of a gunshot, and the nearest minion's head was reduced to a bloody pump. Nichelle turned and saw Doris, pale faced as ever and with a pistol in her hands. "Touch Nichelle no one! Pick waitress on no one! Her leave be!"

This caused the minions to shift their attention to Doris, and with all eyes off of her and her breath caught, Nichelle seized the opportunity. Her blades flew in a rejuvenated fervor, and the minions found themselves being butchered like flies. A few raced toward Doris while the rest continued to fight Nichelle, and the girl could only watch as they threw themselves at the sick woman.

"Doris, run! It's not safe!" She called out, yet her words fell on deaf ears. The nearest undead was greeted with another bullet to the face, and the one behind Doris kicked back with her foot before blowing its face off. The third pinned her, but Doris rolled with the strike onto her back, and braced her legs under the minion's chest before she kicked out in force. The minion was launched behind her, and its efforts were rewarded with its head blown apart like its bretherin.

"Sick too this for." Doris grumbled. She turned to Nichelle, who had just thrown several back into the rift they had been flooding from. "Nichelle, going on what? You what is?"

"I will explain after this is over..." Nichelle's eyes began to glow, and a pair of high intensity beams struck the portal, and with its internal energies destabilized, the rift exploded, taking those that had been trying to come out with it. A shower of limbs and blood rained upon the two waitresses and those few minions that remained. "And it won't take long."

"Promise hold you to." Doris coughed as she reloaded her gun. Nichelle had to admit, Doris was taking what she was seeing a lot better than she expected. She had expected her to faint again, or start screaming, yet this was a surprise to her. Perhaps the Russian girl had seen enough that this wasn't too unusual for her.

"We have a guest." Persephone mused.

"Impossible. No energy signature is detected here on the map. Are you certai-"

"Yes Laeptus, I am certain. I can feel it." Persephone turned to the scientist. "And it's not very far from here. Have two of our probes go greet them. It's not much, only one person."

"Do they really think so little of u-" Lilith began to say, but a glare from Persephone silenced her. She wasn't in the mood for the satori's attitude.

"We might get our answers far sooner than I expected. And then we'll see exactly what we are dealing with..."

________________________________

"Unprecedented. This is unlike anything I have witnessed."

In a distant realm, a sole figure was seated upon her crystal throne. Before her were rifts that showed the events that plagued many worlds. The carnage, the destruction, the mayhem... It sickened her. Such wanton destruction, what sort of sadistic hideous fiend could do such a thing? What manner of evil had descended upon reality like an all devouring serpent? Whoever it was, whoever was gleeful of such bloodshed and murder would pay dearly.

And the serpent's head was the target.

She reached a scarred hand forward, and another rift materialized. From it, a man landed on his feet before her. He seemed like an ordinary young man plucked from another world, with short brown hair and leather pants and a t-shirt, with the only oddity being the skull ring on his ring finger.

"You are lucky I wasn't doing anything important," the man grumbled. "What is so important you couldn't just message me about it, Cercil?"

The woman stood from her throne. She was almost double his height, and the crimson robes she wore draped across the ground. Her eyes shone like a burning star at the man before her. "Only the possible threat of all life in the cosmos, and not just in our realm. Look, Crigan, and behold the darkness that spreads."

The man turned to look at the events unfolding from the rifts, and his face grew still. "I... I see. You want me to find the source of this and stop it? Do you think it is-"

"No, I know it is not her." Cercil shook her head. "Persephone lacks resources of this scale, and never has she tried anything like this before. Whoever this is is unlike anything I have ever seen, so please be careful. I know you have important matters of your own, but... this supercedes them."

"I don't think I can handle this kind of a nightmare by myself. I would need help, assistance. Even among the gods, I'm far from the strongest, especially now. Please tell me you have someone who can help me with this..."

Cercil nodded. "If I could help you myself, I would handle this myself in a heartbeat, but my powers outside of this sacred realm are limited. Mulek can accompany you in my stead. She is a bright, smart angel who, while having her faults, has shown far brighter than anyone else I can have accompany you."

The woman turned, and a slightly shorter, one armed woman walked forward. She had a pair of black wings which obscured her face from view, and a glowing red scythe burned in her hand. Where her other arm had once been, was now nothing but a stump. "Do not pity me if you think I am disabled. I am still an elite warrior among the heavens." She hissed at the man. "Even if you are the God of Death, your talents are nothing to me."

"Point noted." Crigan mused, before he looked back at Cercil. Something told him he wasn't going to enjoy being in this black winged angel's presence for long...

The robed woman wiped her mouth with a dirtied white sleeve, observing the stranger through narrowed eyes the whole while. When her arm fell, she was wearing a wry smile. She leaned back carelessly against the railing behind her.

“Big talk,” she chuckled. The laughter did not reach her eyes however. “But I don’t think you can back it up. And I don’t like serving. The people you serve? They get over you. Take you for granted. Start forgetting the good you do and only notice the mistakes. Turn ungrateful. I’ve seen it before.”

The woman shoved her hands in her pockets and teetered forward. Her dry grin grew larger.

“Tell you what though. I’ll give you a chance to prove me wrong though. Show me something interesting. Something that will last. Because this?” she explained, pulling one hand back out and sweeping it around the ruined roadhouse. Two fingers met at the end of the gesture; she snapped.

The sound was like thunder, and half the building was blasted apart by the shock waves, solid hardwood turning to frayed splinters in an instant. The elevated flooring beneath them groaned. The lighter carcasses that littered the ground- some of small-framed persons, most severed into multiple pieces- began sliding with the new incline.

“This was a few minutes’ entertainment, tops. Nothing lasts around me. It’s all just... tissue paper. Find me something that’s not and I’ll consider it.”

“Very well” spoke the puppet “If you wish to see something worth your time, I will show you.”

The dead servant's eyes glowed with green energy, which then shot out and struck the women in her own. The first thing she saw what the same terrible visage Ubel and Daeva had seen. A horrible face with equine and canine features. She then felt it reach out and stroke her mind, not attempting to invade but to connect just enough to show her something.

“Let me show yo an encounter I had in the not too distant past. I met a being much like yourself in nature. A creature who thought itself all powerful, a being who devoured entire worlds for it’s amusement. It called itself the Destroyer.”

“Is this sufficient? Also, do not insult me with your assumptions. Like you I once served others. I waged wars of a kind you can barely comprehend, slaughtered so many beings that worlds turned red from their spilled blood, all in the name of glory for the Osirian Court. But for all my power, all my deeds, they gave greater calibration to the lesser deeds of others simply because they were more palatable. Those who serve me faithfully are never forgotten and always first in line to receive the true gifts of Sutekh”

The women in the pink dress made her way through the streets of the ancient city. She attracted some attention as she went, but her appearance and the fact that she scorched the ground with every step was not totally alien to this reality. Suddenly she stopped in mid-stride, as her master sensed that someone had noticed her arrival... and that they wished to have an audience. An interesting and not unwelcome development.

As the God of Death discussed plans alongside the two angels, a heavenly light filled Cercil's realm, shining with the intensity of the sun. Six great wings made of sunlight emerged from a sphere-like form as it emerged from the corona of sunlight, before they folded back on top of one another to form a six pointed star. As the blinding light began to die down, the silhouette of a robed figure with a great 6-pointed crown appeared. The figure emerged from the light, soon revealing the entity's entire form. The figure appeared kingly - they were clad in a set of brilliant silver armor and wore a long, flowing robe that covered much of their body. Their face was obscured by barrel-like helmet adorned with a glowing golden crown that ringed the top.

"Forgive my intrusion," the figure stated calmly, examining Crigan, Cercil, and Mulek, "but I'm afraid that I am in need of your help. A threat of massive proportions has assailed the multiverse with forces never before witnessed. My Petitioners are working hard as we speak to help stem the tide of their legions, but I am afraid it is not enough. I will need to take more... drastic measures. But I cannot be everywhere at once."

The figure examined the three. "I would much appreciate your help in this endeavor."

The woman's thin grin twitched, bordering on a scowl in several places. Hand returning to her pocket, she stood up straight to address the puppet.

"Alright, you got me there, Ponyboy," she admitted, though she did not drop her sardonic tone. "I didn't see any proof that, 'the Destroyer' could take a punch, but I still need to breath. Blowing up the planet would work. It'd be... boring... just floating around in space for a couple of hours waiting to die... but it'd work."

Lifting herself from the railing, the woman paced a few steps around the stranger's servant. She seemed to be searching for another biting response, but, if her silence was anything to go by, she could not find one.

Finally, her grin fell. The dry humor had left her eyes and seemed to have left them hollow. When she next spoke, it at last appeared to be in earnest. "Why do you need me then? If you can blow up planets willy nilly, why do you need any help? The list of things that can survive the explosion can't be very long. The list of things that can survive in space after it has to be even shorter, let alone move and keep fighting. Seems like you already have things well in hand. Are you just jerking me around or what?"

“I would never waste your time, and especially mine, with such pointless behaviour” said puppet “Look around and you will see your answer, my puppets of flesh and bone are many but they are weak when fighting a conflict of this scale. Their power is mine, my psychic abilities stretched across billions of worlds at once. I cannot focus my true strength in such a situation without my grasp slipping, where upon my servants are nothing more than dead flesh.”

The Destroyer sensed her next question.

“You are going to ask why? I will again not waste your time with lies. I seek dominion over all creation. To make my will the governing force in the multiverse. How that is to be realised you will only learn if you join me, but I assure you this is no delusion. However for my goal to be realised I shall need assistance. For all my power, I am but single entity in an infinite ocean. It would be impossible for me to make any meaningful progress alone and as I’ve already stated my servants have their limits. Which is why I have used them as I have.”

The puppet motioned carnage around them once again.

“This destruction I have wrought is not a mindless slaughter. It was to draw out those who are truly mighty, which in turn would allow me to identify those who would stand against me... or as in your cause, those who could stand with me.”

Green light flowed into the women’s eyes once more. She saw flashes of battles from across creation and in each were the enemies of Sutekh. Some were boring, common solders and heroes, but others were far more interesting. A girl dressed in a maid outfit with a blade projecting from her arm, a pair of high tech ninjas flying though space, monstrous bears, beings that looked angels and many more. Some were losing to horde or at best fighting them to a standstill, but others were decimating them. In more then a few cases, with feats of what even she had to admit were impressive displays of power and skill.

“I reiterate, if you side with me, I will free you from the confines of this small world. You will travel the multiverse as my agent and in its infinite possibility; you will never taste boredom again. If that is not enough for you, then I do have one additional offer. Come to the Red Desert and I will engage you in combat personally. I give you my word that I will insure that the battle will not be boring for you. Afterwards you may make your choice.”

The ninjas both breathed a huge sigh of relief upon the vicious assault on their minds having ceased. Ubel looked over to see Daeva knelt over grabbing her knees; he could tell she was still recovering from what happened.

“Daeva!” Ubel exclaimed and floated over towards her. He ripped off his helmet, cast it away, and went to cradle the small ninja in his arms. “Here, I’ve got you. You okay?”

“I’m fine, Ubie, really. I just need a second to get my head sorted.” Daeva said, throwing an arm around Ubel’s shoulder for support. “That figure... He got into our heads like it was nothing.”

“Yeah, but luckily he didn’t get far. Whoever he was though, I have a feeling he’s responsible for what Dante felt earlier.” Ubel remarked.

Daeva’s eyes widened, “Dante! Oh no, Dante’s in trouble, that thing is going to be looking for him; we need to warn him!”

Ubel nodded in agreement, “Let’s get back home and let him and Evron know. The sooner we all know what we’re dealing with, the more prepared we can be for whatever’s coming next.”

With that, Ubel raised a hand above his head and did a sharp, downwards cleaving motion which tore a rift open in space. He then proceeded to let Daeva go and used both hands to grab either side of the radiating violet tear, and ripped it open even wider to create a portal big enough for he and Daeva to fit through. The ninjas made it inside and seconds later, the portal closed by mending itself back together from the bottom up. Soon, there were no signs that anything had ever occurred, and the ninjas were on their way back home with some very disturbing news.

The woman's ill-humored smirk returned. "Why didn't you cut the chatter and just say so in the first place? I haven't had a good fight in-"

She paused, and a laugh possessed her. It came out breathlessly, like a cough. "Actually, maybe I never have. Everything... everyone... it's been like crushing ants. And stepping on bugs is fun for a while, but... well, it gets old. Hope you can take a punch, Horsey. And honestly? I hope you're not all talk too. I hope you back it up. Being the strongest has its perks, but it also means you're alone. Maybe I'm most bored of my own company."

The woman removed her hands from her pockets and placed them on her hips. Her smile finally seemed to reach her eyes. "Say, what should I call you? Otherwise, I'll keep just making up names."
