Having him have a Godzilla disguise ala Showa and having the synthetic skin torn to shreds with the remains flapping like a cloak around its shoulders during his full mecha reveal would be a cool sight. (It would get rid of the "cloak" immediately afterwards for efficiency but still)

Yeah, I kinda agree. Depending on how it looks I guess you could make it look cool, but it really serves zero purpose.

I prefer the 98' design over the aborted 94 design.

To me the 94' design looks too clean and crocodile. At least the 98' design looks like an original monster.

Are we talking the Stan Winston/Crash McCreary design or Ricardo Delgado’s design? I guess it’s a confession that I think the Winston/Crash design is overrated and prefer Delgado’s concept for reasons somewhat similar to your own, the Winston design looks far too green and has kind of a weird build (and some drawings gave him lips that completely covered his teeth and give him an oddly friendly look)while Delgado’s has a nice sort of sleek predator vibe.

The one picture I do like of the Winston design is the concept art of him battling F-14s

The sumo build, while neat in concept, looks kind of weird in certain angles; coupled with the strangely kind face that contrasts with his vicious nature he’s not really my favorite
I do enjoy the “earthy” tree-inspired aspects of the design though

I dislike the Anime Godzillas design.
I get that it invokes the feeling of an old wise man + a really old tree but it just seems so... boring. I hate the head and neck specifically.
Anime Ghidorah is worse in every way though (Lazy Servum recolour).
