You and me both. Seems this element has really come out in recent weeks too. Ultimate cringe that a fan actually asked Dougherty about it. Christ
Dougherty’s sort of been entertaining MosuGoji shippers recently though (check his Twitter if you don’t believe me), and evidently the Japanese dub rendered the “symbiotic relationship” line as “love between species” so that sort of explains the oupouring of Japanese art

To me, kaiju shipping is sort of mixed. I don’t do it myself, but some people do it jokingly or semi-jokingly and it’s humorous at best and harmless at worst, and then some people take it all too seriously or go too far into the joke and it goes full cringe and sometimes outright disgusting

The “uncrossable line” that makes me instantly think less of a person for liking is gijinkas. It’s like the fifth time I’ve said it but in the past few months it’s become increasingly difficult to spend five minutes in a Godzilla related discussion before they start showing up en masse

They're not capable of feeling stuff like human love. Yes, they're more than just average dinosaurs and insects but at the end of the day they're still animals.

Whereas clearly you're all about shipping a giant animal with a giant hero from Nebula M78.

Even more cringe when he retweets fan art of it. Cute, friendship art? I'm okay with that. "My queen, my king, etc."? Simon says get the fuck out of her with that.

I wouldn't say any of us are the definitive authority on what goes through, say, Spacegodzilla's head. If we can accept the crystals, the telekinesis, and the general violations of the laws of physics, is the possibility that he can feel love really that big a hurdle?

Kids talking about their love of Heisei monsters and Bagan? Sure, go ham. People talking out their asses about thematic elements that clearly aren't present in certain films? Sure, why not.

Shipping giant animals? Sorry, that's a line crossed. Pathetic. Wretched. >insert unkind adjective here<. I instantly think less of people who do this. It's disgusting.
Don't Disney movies have romances between animal characters? Hell, a lot of animated movies?

Shipping doesn't necessarily equal sex.

Easy man, he's just posting stuff fans have tweeted with the movie's hashtag (wouldn't be surprised if it was a contractually obligated PR thing from his part). He even mentioned the guy he got it from in a reply.
goblin shark (plural goblin sharks) [ˈgɒblɪn shärk'], noun:
1. a shark with a long pointed obstruction from forehead and growing to 3.8 meters in length; Mitsukurina owstoni.
2. not a reference to Guiron.

Ugh even Dougherty is posting retweeted stuff about shipping? If I was the director and that was happening, I would be like "Hahahaha.... yeah yeah...." and ignore them.

Is this what people really want, shipping Godzilla and Mothra with the normies being able to understand? I don't even understand the ones where they draw the monsters as humans, gijinkas or the others. In times like these I ask myself, what would Tanaka do?

Yeah, poor lad. He's a trooper no doubt about that.

On Dougherty's twitter, in those posts about shipping there's comments by a guy acting like Godzilla who seems very disgusted by all the shipping fanart. It's weird but I agree with the guy lol. He even questioned Bear.

I might have come off the wrong way. I fucking love Michael Dougherty. He seems like such a genuinely nice and down to earth guy, plus his movie was stellar.

I'm fine with Mothra and Godzilla having a friendship similar to Godzilla and Anguirus in the Showa series. Godzilla and Mothra seem to have human level of intelligence in this series so that works. I really don't imagine a "sexual" relationship is something that makes sense.

You guys are taking something that was meant as joke way way too seriously. Some military guy on loan to Monarch didn't understand what symbiotic relationship meant and thought it was sexual and thus messed up. Mike, rule 34 artists, fanfic writers, and the shippers are in on the joke and are just running with the joke. And here's the thing, you can avoid this shit. I sounds like you guys are purposely going out of your way to find it because you have nothing better to do than find something to bitch about.

Rule 34 and shipping exist. That's not news, it happens to everything. Now if some troll came here and started posted XXX hardcore Mothra porn on this forum, then it'd be news and you can understandably be upset.

Most likely, I’m right-wing as hell and I very much enjoyed KoTM

On the other hand, the New York Post did call the film “needlessly political” for it’s ecological themes (I myself thought the film wasn’t very political at all, and I mean even beyond it not stooping to the sort of dumb virtue signaling seen in Fallen Kingdom; most seem to agree that the climate change themes are honestly very minor, to the relief of some and the disappointment of others)

Meanwhile funnily enough Alex Jones loves the hell out of KoTM and devoted an entire video to talking about it
Now this review is cringe.

Calling it a very "Christian" movie.
"The newest Godzilla movie uses a plot that is geared towards telling the truth about the globalist agenda. "
"For a cheesey Godzilla movie it's the best Godzilla movie I've ever saw"
Wow. As a libertarian...I feel like he is looking too far into this. He wants to see something that isn't present. There are political messages in this film, but they are subtle enough as to allow it to actually be enjoyable.
