Are the widescreen movies in this set 16x9 enhanced?

And I’m totally down for that Mothra set, looks fantastic.

I don't think I've ever seen a widescreen Bluray release that ISN'T 16x9 enhanced....

Don’t know if regions are different depending on what country you’re in, but there’s a German release coming soon as well...in fact it’s already been released. It actually has a few more special features on it too. The thread is here:

From what I gather, that one just has German subtitles and I live in Sweden, where German is very not spoken.

My PS3 is American, so since I like steelbooks better anyway, I'll just make plans for the steelbook.

Thanks though. :)

Sorry, my question was about the Vintage Sci-fi 6 movie set. I tried to quote the post but I don’t think it worked.

In that case, the answer is yes!

Even with DVD, that's probably a safe assumption. Has anyone released anything in non-anamorphic widescreen since George Lucas' LaserDisc rips of the original trilogy in 2006?

Great, I'll put it on my wishlist!

I don't think so, but considering it's Mill Creek, I wanted to be sure.

(Wow, those old Star Wars non-anamorphic releases really stick in the craw, don't they? I would have accepted them if they would have at least used a studio grade upconvertor to make them 16x9).

So....I thought Sony had perpetuity rights on Mothra? Does this mean that Mill Creek has sub-licensed it from them?

I wonder if that means Mill Creek sub-licensing Sony's Godzilla films might be on the table. If they started dropping some Godzilla steelbooks...or any kind of collector's set/sets.....that would be glorious.

Even more glorious if they went that extra mile to give us any audio commentaries on those movies. I know the commentary for Mothra is pre-existing........but if Mill Creek is maybe thinking about going hard on some kind of "Godzilla 65 year anniversary" set, maybe they'll shell out for a handful of audio commentaries to provide some sort of extra supplement.

Fingers perpetually crossed.

Yeah MC have been sub-licencing a bunch of stuff from Sony for a couple of years now, but I wouldn't expect too much from them - and I very much doubt we'll get fancy new Godzilla releases from them, especially with Sony releases still on the market.

That said, I never thought Mothra would get a fancy steel book release... so there we go.

The 90s/00s films also don't have the same draw as the classic Showa films, like Mothra here, so a deluxe box set should originally be more financially risky. I'd still love to see that too, though.
...And who knows? If KOTM is a big enough hit, maybe they'd try it. I wouldn't bet on it, but it's a nice thought for now.

I'm super excited to finally have MOTHRA on blu-ray and on it's own; not part of this or that collection! I'm not much into steelbook packaging, but this look pretty awesome! Hopefully the fact that it's Mill Creek won't sour it...

Hard to pass up at that price, I also pre-ordered, thanks! I decided to pick up the ROM trilogy along with it since that release is finally cheap enough for me.

lol 50% off Amazon doesn't do any good when it has $6 shipping and $2 in taxes.

Speak for yourself. As a Prime member it's cheaper for me to order to Amazon than it would have been anywhere else online.
