NOOOOOOO! Legit made me sad. No more Hedorah!

Despite all the controversy regarding him directing GVH, he made my personal favorite entry in the series, and had heavy involvement in revitalizing the franchise.

It's not really one of my fave entries like others, but I'm still deeply saddened to hear the news. He was working so hard on getting another film for the series, whether Deathla or that very recent "New Hedorah" pitch.

That's too bad. He was definitely one of the more unique voices in the series no matter what you thought about Smog Monster.

Not a big fan of Vs. Hedorah, but the man clearly had a big passion for Godzilla. If it wasn't for him, G14 probably wouldn't have been made.

RIP.

WHAT!?!? NO! He was the last Showa Godzilla director!

My condolences to his family.

Sad to hear about Banno. I'm going to be watching Godzilla vs. The Smog Monster (for the first time in a decade or so) sometime in the next week or two, and this will definitely make me look at the movie differently than I would have. Always did like that one; it was one of my first G-movies, and is undeniably unique. I love the Final Form Hedorah suit/design, too. One of my favorite kaiju, particularly from a visual standpoint.

Rest in Peace Banno.
My most wanted fight ever is Discord vs Bobobo-bo bo-bobo.
Godzilla has a regen like Wolverine, a skin like Luke Cage, a hero aura like Captain America, a strength like Hulk, an unstoppability like Juggernaut, an immortality like Deadpool.

There's a 'God' in Godzilla for a reason...

I actually met Yoshimitsu on what may have been the greatest day of my life. I got to talk with him about his life for well over an hour, and he proceeded to give us a tour of Toho studios, and then we had dinner with him at a very nice restaurant up the road from us. He was a very charming old man, who loved to see young people so interested in his work. He even asked my professor to help fund his Godzilla side project for a mere $6 million. My professor left it in his other pants. He even tried to set his son up with one of my friends!

This is the most upset I've ever been over a celebrity dying. Oh my God...it's just...too much...
Before it can be filmed, drawn, acted or programed, it must be written.

Indeed. IMO, the only part of GvsHedorah that went over the top was when Big G flew - the rest was just fine. And yes, he WAS instrumental in getting G2014 made...

This may not affect too many here aside from me, but Mauno Koivisto, the 9th president of Finland, passed away yesterday.

Powers Boothe has passed away at 68. The well known and respected character had appeared in such beloved films as Tombstone, Sin City, and The Avengers (a role he reprised in Agents of SHIELD), the critically acclaimed HBO western series Deadwood, and was the voice of Gorilla Grodd in Justice League and Justice League Unlimited. He died in his sleep of natural causes.
