Final Wars: Why The Hate?

I believe Final Wars was an awesome movie. Great special effects, awesome characters, great Goji suit, solid storyline, etc. I don't see why people hate it. It is my favorite Godzilla Movie.

I don't see why people hate it.

I always laugh when people say this. Even if someone likes a steaming pile of horse excrement like GFW, the idea that a person couldn't possibly understand why someone else might not like it blows my mind.

On top of that, we've had plenty of threads like this before. Many, many times before. And they usually don't go well.

Okay, fair warning newcomer. You should make sure you have some really strong justifications behind why you think the way you do or else this forum is going to tear you apart. Saying you love possibly the most hated movie here while claiming the most beloved movie here is the one you like the least is going to bring out the worst in people. For your own sake, do not use the "Godzilla getting beaten by two caterpillars is stupid" or "it's just my opinion" excuses or you're going to have no chance and your credibility will never recover.

Also, we already have a topic for this. It's not hard to find. You should probably post there instead of creating a new topic because that just makes you look like a noob and it's going to make the hostility even worse. I may not agree with your opinion, but you do have a right to express yourself, just do so in an intelligent manner because I've seen people post pretty much exactly what you've posted beforehand and they almost never last too long. Sooooo you love the worst film in the entire series and can't understand why anyone would hate it...and your least favorite Godzilla film is Mothra vs Godzilla (which is generally acknowledged as one of the very best) because it "made Godzilla weak and ruined his image"?

How did it ruin his image?? You are aware that GFW really hurt the series in Japan and was a critical and financial failure other there, right?

If Godzilla can win against more powerful bad guys like Mechagodzilla, Hedorah, Space Godzilla and Destroyah, why the f@ck is it so terrible when he loses against Mothra in a film where she's clearly the hero?

Yes the plot was beautifully done.

Not to seem patronizing, but how old are you? That might have something to do with why you like the movie so much as it is more popular among the younger demographic, but older fans (by older, I mean 20s and above) tend to hate the film because of how over-the-top and stupid it is without any sense of irony. The whole situation is exponentially more ridiculous than the average G-film but it's all plated completely straight. The martial arts were badly done, felt like a Matrix rip-off and took away from the monsters. The movie also rips of Star Wars, X-Men, often shamelessly directly recreating shots from the former. The subplot with Minya had no point and didn't lead to anything other than that painfully narmy scene where he and the kid stop Godzilla and the humans from fighting. The Shobijin show up to give the main character a plot device and then do jack poop for the rest of the movie.The monster fights are way too short are the CGI is as bad as anything you'd find in G:2000 and Megaguirus. There's no dramatic tension to any of the fights because of how overpowered Godzilla is. King Ghidroah and Godzilla both look ugly, Godzilla not as bad as people make it out to be but King Ghidorah looks absolutely atrocious. The music is too turn-of-the-millennium techno for me and the characters are not interesting. Please, describe any of them without using the adjective "Badass" or "Serious" because they frankly have no depth or real personality.

Seriously, this movie plays out like a bad fanfiction from the internet. Saying you like the execution is a bit more defensible than saying the plot to this movie is fine when its so juvenile, overactive, filled with plot holes and so focused on being cool that it never stops to ask itself whether any of this meshes together into some sort of cohesive whole.

It's one thing to say you enjoy a movie like this, it's another to proclaim that you can't see why people don't like it and stick your head in the sand and repeat things over and over again.
Why is the plot done well?
Why are the characters interesting?
Why did Godzilla losing to a bunch of larva "ruin" his image when so many people consider that film one of the best in the series?
You can't just say stuff without providing any justification if you want to be taken seriously. Just read "Final Wars: Where did it Go Wrong?" a few topics below this one. It explains things much more eloquently than I can or the gargantuan talkback thread with about (what is it...70 pages?) of opinions about the film.
