yeah but it' still just him, Kong, other's of Kong's species, Black Moth, Sanda And Gaira, Frankenstein... that's it. i know it may sound like a lot but compare all of that to how many insects and reptile monsters exist.

since Toho made him i guess/ there's anatomy pictures that show him being made out of rocks and batteries, so he's more of a mythical construct if anything.

He’s a golem with mammalian features and fur so I think Toho and literally everyone else in the fandom would label him a “mammal” kaiju…

I think the Gigan Analysis names two sources that contradict each other, one saying his claws have venom and the other saying they use electric shock and vibrations. Also some sources saying his saw rotates all the way while others say it just moves back and forth.

This maybe correct, it’s been a while since I’ve thumbed through it too but I certainly recall them flat out proclaiming they’re not insects, especially since the female has a visible spine when she’s decapitated.

I'm honestly fully on board with them being highly derived Placoderms. This would both explain them as earth-born organisms, and provide a reason for them looking so different from any other terrestrial animal. Although I do find the idea that some Extraterrestrial influence was at hand pretty peculiar.

There's no way to say that they are or not, unless there's something within official sources that specifically states they do not branch off the tetrapod line
