... Imagine how much more tolerable that scene would be if they replaced it with a chemical "ANEB" weapon? You get your dumb reference and you don't shit on the pathos of the original film in the process.

THIS! I've been saying this for so long!

The anti-nuclear energy bacteria would've worked so much better!

Also, rather than reviving Godzilla with a hydrogen bomb, maybe instead Serizawa could've committed suicide by ramming a Nuclear Submarine into him (think back to Godzilla 1984 and Godzilla vs King Ghidorah), and revived him without sh*tting all over the message of the original movie.

I actually agree with most of your points (and I liked KOTM) except for this one. I thought if anything it seemed meant to hype Ghidorah. I mean, it’s arguably the strongest man made weapon in the franchise, capable of killing or nearly killing Godzilla, and Ghidorah tanks it like it’s nothing. Even if non fans or casual fans don’t recognize its significance, they still see a weapon put Godzilla down but not even faze Ghidorah, showing Ghidorah’s power.

Like I said, I agree with most of your other points and definitely think the OD needed more context and buildup, but I don’t think it made Ghidorah look like a pansy; quite the opposite.

Of course, if their intention was to show how strong Ghidorah is, I guess it would have been simpler to just have him beat Godzilla to the edge of death without interference from the OD and leave it at that.

So I didn't know this but KoTM wasn't the bomb shell they were hoping for to which I ask "why?" Putting aside the Toho references, you got four giant monsters duking it out (looking the best they have in a while) and you got that chick from Stranger Things that was popular ( right?) So why did this fail? The plot is pretty tame and I think the family angle pulls at the heart strings plus it sets up the remake of the most famous monster vs monster movie probably ever so... What gives?
I like shows where Japanese folks change into spandex clad heroes and fight rubber suits.

KOTM is a mess storywise, is rather ugly, and it's "actors" seem totally lost in CGI space.
But a few incredible shots here and there, and some godzifanservice, make it a must have for me.
For the GA? It's just an ugly mess, I guess.

The monsterverse is sinking, so my GvK expectations are very low.
I'm all for a good surprise!

- 5 year gap in between this film and the first
- Mixed reactions to Godzilla 2014
- Starting promotion 9 months out an hype had died down
- Terrible release date surrounded by other massive blockbusters
- Poor Critic Reviews
- To many sub-plots that went nowhere
- The entire Russell family drama should have been left out
- Some of the dialog is cheesy and the humor didn't land
- Movie was a good 30/45 minutes to long

There wasn't just 1 reason the film didn't meet expectations, it was multiple.

I don’t see how the sun plots didn’t go anywhere tbh
For the cheesy dialogue... there is something wrong having cheesy dialogues in a movie that is part of a franchise that is known for its cheesiness and/or the cheesy dialogues of the majority of its movies?
And the movie was only 2 hours and 11 eleven minutes long. How is that too long? I’d dare to say that it’s too short

These are just the biggest complaints I have read over time not all mine in particular. Although I believe the script could have used a few more passes.

Yeah nah I personally disagree with most of those points except for the being surrounded by way too many blockbusters, including Endgame the highest grossing film of all time (I wasn't a fan but meh), questionable dialogue and subjective "critic" reviews

Well while I disagree with a few of those points at least these are reasons why the film didn't work and now I have a inkling as to why. Thank you but Endgame is boring and I would rather watch this over that film. Such a boring movie.

That can be said for the entire movie, to be quite honest.
