Except they could secure the rights to more Toho monsters for it if they were so inclined (who knows? They may have already done so and we just don't know it yet), and I thought the 5 Toho monsters was including Godzilla, meaning there's only one other one they have the rights to ATM.
Also, a DAM remake would allow them to give us some new monsters in addition to Toho ones, thus allowing them to showcase some more of their creativity. Of course, I don't buy that the sequels
had to have them, much less that it should
only be new monsters appearing like some apparently want. There actually
were some people whining and bitching when they announced that they've secured the rights to Toho monsters at CC this year, I shit you not. One guy in particular, who's name and forum shall remain anonymous, even went as far as to call it "lazy and ripping off of Toho's success."
By that "logic," Legendary should've just made whole new villains for the two
Dark Knight films (because LP produced the Nolan
Batman trilogy as well, let's not forget, and Thomas Tull is an exec producer for both trilogies from Legendary) instead of "ripping off" DC villains; Joker, Bane, Two Face, Catwoman, Ras, Scarecrow. After all, WB (their then-distributor) showed us in the past that they can create innovative new
Batman villains in Red Hood, who's to say they can't do it again, right,
right?
LMAO, glad these people (especially this guy) weren't on the production team for the Nolan
Batman trilogy and aren't on this one, either. Could you imagine how underwhelmed moviegoers would be for them if they adopted this mentality for the TDK films that they apparently want them to for the Legendary
Godzilla trilogy instead of giving us the two major
Batman villains we all know and love (Joker and Bane)? Plus, "rubber suits are on the same footing as modern CGI, a la
Transformers,
Pacific Rim, etc."...said no one ever.
