Someone mentioned that the lines in Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla 1974, reflect what happened in GvK and I think that's epic.

Well, there isn't really a red moon, and the sun doesn't rise out of the western sky (even as a mirage), but nevertheless that's kinda cool.

Although I wasn't fully onboard with this movie, I did appreciate the way it sometimes evoked the feel of the classic Toho style.

Finally watched this movie (had to wait for a hime release due to covid)
I enjoyed it more than kotm. The battles were really great and it was nice to see godzilla destroy stuff finally. The han plot though... well lets just say none of the legendary human plots have been anything interesting. But asong as the kaiju action is good i'm fine. Not the greatest godzilla movie or best legendary godzilla movie but fun.

I cannot believe this is a thing.

But I'm specifically talking about Kong species enslaving Titans and how that was completely wrong. Also, didn't the comic refer to Godzilla as YOUNG? When did it mention that he was a KID? Young doesn't automatically mean you're a kid. He could've been an early adult.

ADOLESCENT can be as young as 10 years old in humans, that's a Kid.

Makes sense why it made the shortlist. the titans all looked and moved magnificent for the majority of the film.

Looking back at the film. It's one of those films where despite its many flaws, I still enjoy it, admit this likely having to do with being a hardcore kaiju fan. Second favorite MonsterVerse film after Kong: Skull Island.

My shower thoughts regarding it.
Spoiler:
Cons:

-Movie feeling like it was two plots mashed together and said subplots easily could have been their own separate movies saved for Godzilla 3 and Kong 2.
-Barely being a Vs. film focusing more on said subplots.
-Most of the human characters suck except for Jia and Dr. Ilene Andrews and Nathan Lind are decent at the very least.
-Some of the attempts at humor such as the joke about bleach or the day is saved when whiskey was poured over the control panel.
-Couldn't get into the Godzilla subplot. That's where the worst human characters came from. I couldn't stand Bernie and Josh and Madison who came off as more unlikable and ****** seemed to have developed an ego and condescending.
-Ren Serizawa's character being reduced to a literal background character, the son of one of the most important characters in this franchise (Dr. Serizawa).
-Main human villain was a cardboard nobody.
-The whole King Ghidorah-Mechagodzilla thing. Comes too much off as Zod-Doomsday all over again. Probably wouldn't have as much an issue with it if this along with the APEX conspiracy and Mechagodzilla were saved for Godzilla 3 instead. Even then I think doing Mecha-King Ghidorah like in the Heisei series would have been a better choice instead and then for a future movie have metal remains be conducted into Mechagodzilla.

I had no issue with the team-up but wish the movie would have just focused on their fight and saved that for a later movie. Do appreciate the execution of how it was done though as even though they acknowledge each other, they're still not exactly allies as they part ways.

Pros:

-The fights between Godzilla and Kong as well as when they're on-screen.
-The hollow earth (Even though this all should've been saved for Kong 2, my ideal version of the film would have it only being shown at the end like in the actual film).
-I really enjoyed and got a kick out of the Kong subplot.
-The character arc and development Kong got in the film notably that even though Godzilla won the fight, Kong won everyone's heart.
-The very fact the opening of the film is that of Shrek (2001), something I actually never would have expected in such a film. Given one of the writers was Terry Rossio, that probably doesn't come off as surprising.

I think getting people back to theaters in a large enough quantity to effectively resuscitate the theaters is achievement enough for GvK. Glad it made top 10, though!

Was also the first COVID-era hit.

Whereas Spider-Man: No Way Home was the first COVID-era billion-dollar hit.

The fact it beat out 2-3 Marvel movies is impressive. Granted, they did not feature the marquee Avengers that draw in crowds, and we see what Spider-man did, but still, an impressive feat and hopefully will bode well for future installments.

One of those happened to be Black Widow though, a leading Avenger.

Both Kong and Godzilla fanboys are pathetic. People wonder why TK looks down at both the Godzilla and MonsterVerse subreddits, but I mean, who wouldn’t?
