Saw it a couple times. I was so happy that the real Godzilla was back.

Re: Godzilla 2000: See it in theaters?
Almost missed it when it got to theaters. It wasn't at my usual haunt for cinema viewing. However, the Sunday after Labor Day my mom returned after visiting my grandmother she ran into my cousin at the hospital. He told her he just saw it at the local theater with his own nephew. When I heard that I zipped up to the theater to see it. Wasn't disappointed, even being the only one there, it didn't matter. Good night to get out of the house.

Yep I saw it. I actually managed to get my parents to come out and join, since they let me watch so much of it when I was a kid and I was only 6 when Godzilla 1984(5) came out. But if I remember right that was TV only over here.

Yup, saw it with my brother and dad when I was 13. Cool experience, and a favorite of mine. Nothing more special then watching a G film on the big screen. I've since watched G'54 during its first theater run through Rialto, and Godzilla vs The Sea Monster at the Pickwick.

I saw it with my parents in high school. There was only one other person in the theater. I didn't like it when I saw it and didn't see it again for 14 years when the blu ray came out and I decided to give it another chance. Now I love it. Of course when I saw it in the theater I wasn't really a Godzilla fan.

Re: Godzilla 2000: See it in theaters?
I remember seeing it in florida during my trip out there back in August of 2000. It was the opening weekend and whatever theater I went to was playing it. Unfortunately it had a low attendance of maybe 4 or 5 of us at the time so it felt like a small deal when it was greater than that. I had actually seen the Japanese version on bootleg prior to its American release so I kinda knew what I was going to get, but actually I was surprised how well they did with the sound effect enhancements. My only disappointments were the cut out scenes especially when Godzilla was charging his heat ray to unleash it on the military in the middle of the film but was extinguished by missiles. I also saw Godzilla 1985 in theaters when I was 3 and remember vivid details of the experience. And trust me I still get chills from that memory.

Yeah. It was excellent in theaters. Especially the music, and the fiery final scenes. I was 10 so it was perfect. Otherwise I've only seen Tokyo SOS and the original [a few times] in theaters, besides the American films.
'And yet another one?'

Re: Godzilla 2000: See it in theaters?
So here's a story.
My father and I went camping on Winter Island during the summer. For about, three days, we explored the island's old military bunkers, lazed about, fished, and had s'mores. We even had to chase off a bunch of raccoons trying to get into our cooler. Then my dad pops the news on me. 'We're going to see Godzilla 2000'. Me, at the time, went apeshit. We get into his company's van, ready to drive out. As soon as he turns the fucking key, we hear a pop. One of the tires blew out. Dad then ran to a pay phone, called a cab, and we barely made it into Godzilla 2000. The reason he did all this was because his dad took him to see a Godzilla flick in a drive through, and he wanted to do the same.
14 years later, I repaid him. I took him to see Godzilla 2014, since I don't have kids of my own. We plan on seeing the 2018 one together too, if our health allows us.

Re: Godzilla 2000: See it in theaters?
On the day before I saw the trailer of G2000, my mom and I went to Hollywood Video to rent me Destroy all Monsters. I've seen many showa films at the time, seen only three heisei Godzilla films. And Gamera Guardian of the universe.
I remember looking at the box art of the movie. Looking at all of the monster icons.
And all of your sudden "boom" Godzilla 2000 !", I heard the trailer andiI was just very excited for the film.
On the day we got to see it was a bookmark of one the greatest moments I've had going to the theaters.
The crowd was decent. There were a couple of chuckles because of slight silly moments with the human characters.
That moment when Orga appears gave me chills.
Fast forwarding 14 years later.
I grabbed my pack of friends.
We went to theaters, when we got our popcorn and soda: we got to our seats. My friends were getting a little bit load before the previews. My buddy was parodying Frozen's "do you want to build a snowman?". But instead saying " Do you want some popcorn?".
Yea, yes it was funny but I didn't to piss anybody off.
Anyway after the movie... They had mixed feelings. I was walking on sunshine after watching it.
Godzilla 2014 did kind of reinact the memories when I watched Godzilla 2000.
Can't wait until 2016 and 2018

Re: Godzilla 2000: See it in theaters?
Saw it a couple of weeks before my birthday on opening night. The room was not completely filled, but a lot of people were there from what I remember. Seeing Orga pop in at the end was totally unexpected too. I remember getting more into it than I did the TriStar "remake" two years before.

Yes I did and it was amazing. It was the first Godzilla movie I ever got to see on the big screen (well, unless you count that 98 movie).
I wish I could see either Mothra vs, Biollante, GMK, or the Kiryu movies in theaters though, as that would be incredible.

I saw it two or three times as a 12 year old. Fun memories, and rather a shame it was the last Toho Godzilla to make it to theaters here.

Agreed. But hopefully theaters like the Alamo Drafthouse will eventually show them. Then again, I was hoping they would last year, and they tried to, but Sony wouldn't let them do so.TheSecondComing wrote:I saw it two or three times as a 12 year old. I saw it in theater. Didn't even know I was gonna see it when my dad took me. I was sorta oblivious to things when I was around 10. Still am, really. (°.o) Good times.

I saw it in the theater twice back in August 2000. Went opening weekend with my brother and then we went again a week or two later when some friends of ours visited, we all loved it. Battle scenes with Orga were great on the big screen.

G:2k was actually the first movie I distinctly recall seeing in theaters, it was great. In fact when I went to see the early showing of G:2014, I was shaking due to getting so many childhood flashbacks. Didn't help it was at the same theater.
