Change your Apple ID location to Japan and then search from there.

Maybe that would work, unlike the PS4/3 Apple doesn’t require an address for purchases correct?

Nope, I downloaded the Kaiju Collection game a few years ago just by changing my location (though it's been a while, it might be more involved than that). It loaded the Japanese app store and I was able to find the game and download it to my device. Didn't keep it for very long 'cause I couldn't read any of it but it was nice to see in-hand.
