FUNIMATION to release SHIN GODZILLA on US Home Video!!

Today, Famous Monsters unveiled exclusive SHIN GODZILLA art by Yuji Kaida for their upcoming convention in Dallas, TX, which is holding a special screening of the film sponsored by FUNIMATION, followed by a Q&A with co-director Shinji Higuchi and special effects cinematographer Keiichi Sakurai.

Buried in the press release is this nugget:
Famous Monsters Convention Dallas will be screening SHIN GODZILLA, courtesy of Funimation, for the first time in the US since its limited theatrical run last October (and the last time before an official Blu-ray release in August)

So, while a specific date has yet to be announced, one can imagine it will be shortly, perhaps even during the convention!! Expect more details as they come.

Pleasantly surprised it'll be out that early; I didn't expect Toho to give them the green light for any date before late fall.

It's still a long ways away, but I'm excited. Fingers crossed for a dub, too. I think it would make a lot of the jokes on screen easier to catch.

It's on my to-buy-as-soon-as-it-comes-out list! Assuming it will be like Attack on Titan, The Movie: Part One( or two ), the plain DVD will be $17.99, the BR + DVD + Digital Download set will be $19.99. My advice( whether you own a BR player or not - and I DON'T ), cough up the extra two bucks - you'll be sorry if you go cheap...

I'm really excited for this. This is the only film besides 2014 that I was alive for a U.S. release. I also hope they do a dub, it would be a bit more marketable.

The only G movie I haven't seen. Probably order it online though as I doubt your Wallyworlds or Targets will carry it. I have seen bits and peices on YouTube and else where and I like what I saw so I'm pretty stoked.

English dub confirmed!

Looks like the only special feature besides the trailers is something called "Godzilla vs. The Nerds: Interview".

Maybe there will be more announced? Unlikely, but we'll see...

Unlikely. Funimation's other releases have been sold on Amazon, as well as physical stores like Walmart and Target. Be patient, I'm sure it will be popping up there soon!

YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The site says the runtime is 120 minutes, instead of 118, so I guess we got the Japanese Blu Ray version with the different head shot of Godzilla at sunset (I watched it online, and the runtime was 1 hour, 59 minutes, and 50 seconds, not an hour and 58 minutes).

My HK bluray still hasn't arrived yet. I'll still get the Funi version for the dub of course.
