Yes it's reasonably good for what it is. It does blur sometimes.
Okay, thanks. How bad is the blurring on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being absolutely non-existent so as not to be intrusive and 1 being absolutely so obvious it's not even funny?
Let me watch it tonight when I get home. I'll take some pictures
Forgive me if I'm being too forward but, where are the pictures? Did something go wrong?

Hey sorry completely forgot about this! Will for sure do it tonight. Put it in my calendar

Ok here are some shots. Now my room is very bright (you can see the light coming in from my curtain behind me). As you can see the quality isnt that bad. There is an occasional blur (you can see it right above the Yeti's head). And the wide shots can be blurry.

Those screenshots are from a bootleg of the Japanese release that has freely circulated online for probably more than a decade. The original source was a leaked screener for an aborted Toho Video release in the late ‘80s or early ‘90s. The blur at the top is a digital method to hide the VCR timecode that was present in the original bootlegged tape.

The Sinister Cinema boot (U.S. version) is about on par with the Rhino and Englewood VHS releases from the ‘90s. The Sinister boot has higher resolution (duh) but the Rhino video master came from a cleaner 35mm source and is honestly a better transfer, even nearly 30 years later.

Until Toho changes its tune and releases the original version on video this is probably the best the movie (either version) will look.

Yes, you're right. I may actually get this, as it's the only way to get the Japanese version/American version combination-until Toho makes something better come along (hey, I can dream, can't I?).

Ya I mean it's bad quality but it's not TERRIBLE for 63 year old film without a legit western release. Unfortunately I dont think we will ever get a legit releaae

No, I actually thought it was pretty good, all things considered. It's not perfect, but that's okay-I'm willing to be flexible at this point. So, Cult Action it is-at least for now.

I reviewed this movie last year, so you can get a better idea of the video quality from my review:

I think we've got a little bit of a problem here. I played the review on your Youtube list of videos and the only thing that came on was the "Shin Godzilla 2 has NOT been cancelled!" video. Also, the copy that you put on here said "An error has occured. Please try again later." Could you please fix this so that I can see the review? I'd like to see your opinions on it. Thanks!

You COULD just follow the link in his signature to his channel and find the review, you know.

That's odd, but it's not on my end. It's on the site's end as I just reposted it using the YT tags and it did the same thing. Here is the direct link:

I see the problem: you posted a link with a time code at the end (“t=61s”). That shouldn’t be there for embedding.

Hmmmmmm, I had no idea links could have time codes in them.

Yeah, those and the "Share" links that YouTube generates don't work well with this forum's embed for some reason.
