NECA - General

Post by Maritonic »

I'm kind of a NECA fanatic. I've almost completed the Jason line; finally picked up Mrs. Voorhees from Pt. 3. REALLY hyped for Pt. 7 Jason.

Anyone getting the Back to the Future figures?

I've recently got into their Alien line so far I have:

Alien "Big Chap" Deluxe Set
Kenner Inspired Rhino Alien
Kenner Inspired Snake Alien
Aliens Warrior Deluxe Set (Blue)
Alien vs Predator Razor Claw Alien (From the Capcom AvP Arcade Game)
Alien vs Predator Arachnoid Alien (From the Capcom AvP Arcade Game)
Alien 3 Deluxe Dog Alien

I want to track down the Kenner Mantis, Gorilla and Scorpion Alien figures and I wouldn't mind getting a Queen as well or a Queen Mother from Genocide.

NECA is going to be doing figures based on Hammer Films!

Meh.

Hammer films are great but they slouch in having distinct monster designs like Universal. The only appealing figure would be a Christopher Lee Dracula. I really can't think of anything else.

Peter Cushing's Baron Frankenstein and Van Helsen, Captain Kronos, the various Frankenstein monsters, The Reptile, the vampires from Vampire Circus and Legend Of The 7 Golden Vampires, and the werewolf from Curse Of The Werewolf.

M-e-h.

None of those sound appealing, except maybe the Werewolf and a Cushing Frankenstein. The rest? Nah.

Just for fun, pick 13 horror movie characters/monsters that you would like to see NECA turn into an action figure. But you can't pick ones that they have already done, as well as any from Hammer Films as they going to be doing them.

1. Teenage Frankenstein
2. The Aztec Mummy
3. El Santo
4. The Thing From Another World
5. The Monster of Piedras Blancas
6. The Fly (The original version)
7. Coffin Joe
8. The Toxic Avenger
9. C.H.U.D
10. The Crypt Keeper
11. The Wasp Woman
12. The Werewolves from The Howling
13. The zombies from Return Of The Living Dead

We talking the 1959 original or the 1995 TV remake? Because I'd probably buy the '95.

Eh, '59 holds no appeal to me at all, but I've nothing against more articulated monster figures out there for the people that do want them. On the other hand I actually watched the '95 movie just to see how the monster was brought to life, it's a really unique design and from an execution perspective it's quite neat. There's a whole flickr album of some behind the scene photos if you're interested: https://www.flickr.com/photos/8559498@N ... 228235032/

I've seen those photos, used as reference for my own version of the wasp woman. It's a great design and really would be a cool toy.

Aside from the Wasp Woman, what other monsters would like to see NECA take a crack at?

Well I think just about anything from Harryhausen goes without saying, narrowing that down would be it's own list, so other than his work, uh...
Gappa
Martian Rat-Bat-Spider from The Angry Red Planet
Medusa from Perseus the Invincible(It'd be a terrible figure, but it's such a wild medusa design)

Yeah I haven't watched a whole lot of monster movies.

One of these isn’t horror or monster movie related but meh, whatever.

1.) Harry Warden from My Bloody Valentine (Might’ve been teased recently)
2.) Universal Monsters
3.) Uber Jason
4.) Part 8 Jason
5.) Tarman from Return of the Living Dead
6.) Part 9 Jason
7.) Romero Zombies
8.) Hellboy
9.) Pumpkinhead
10.) Blues Brothers
11.) Killer Klowns
12.) Ultimate New Nightmare Freddy
13.) The Burning

1.) Thanator
2.) Arachnid from Starship Troopers
3.) Matriarch Queen from Aliens vs Predator 2010
4.) V-rex
5.) Zorgons
6.) Prawns from District 9
7.) Cloverfield Monster
8.) DND Dragons (Seriously. They own Wizkids which does the DND miniatures. Why not do a line of articulated dragons??)
9.) Dark Blade Clan armor Scarface Predator
10.) Demons from Doom (But if I had to pick just one I would want to see first, Hell Knight)
11.) Mutated creatures from Metro (Again, picking only one, the Demon, specifically from Metro Exodus)
12.) Wolves from Dog Soldiers
13.) Harvester Soldier from Independence Day

I use the term "monster" loosely because I believe my preferred monsters are typically different from the classic, horror movie "monster". :) Also included some games cause a lot of my favorite monster designs come from games rather than movies.

When coming up with this list a thought came into my mind: How awesome would it be get an original line of gargoyles and other beasts, akin to that Stan Winston figure line back in the early 2000s? I wanna see Neca come up with their own designs but of course since it's not from the 80s Randy won't bite.

9. Dr. Phibes
10. The Blind Dead
11. The Amazing Colossal Man

I'd kill for them to get the Darksiders license. I'd love articulated figures of War, Death, Vilgrim, and the rest. Doom would be awesome too.

Added in 10 minutes 4 seconds:
Also wish someone would grab The Guyver license here in the States. I need good sized articulated figures of the Zoanoids. The Figma Guyvers are ok but they're too small.
