So are we still to believe Dyna has been retconned out of Trigger’s timeline as had been rumored before? Obviously the emphasis is on Tiga for the anniversary but not even a passing Dyna and Super Guts reference seems odd.

Still don’t how to feel about basically the same villains from The Final Odyssey but on Mars instead.
There’s no point in being grownup if you can’t be childish sometimes.

Are the events of Trigger the result of the Tiga/Dyna timeline being altered via time travel?

No, it's its own separate universe.

Good God, the announcer voice for the device is just so f'n bad. Like the worst for any New Generation Ultra by far. And don't get me wrong, while I am beyond happy to see Gymaira again (my favorite 80 kaiju), we better see a lot more returning Tiga/Dyna kaiju. Gazort is a welcome return, but he better not be alone. I'm already a bit iffy on the idea of a Metron "kid" like Pega, but if we don't see monsters like Goldras and Silvagon, whom have perfectly good suits leftover that haven't been used in ages, I might just legit riot. And Gubira, AGAIN, is beyond annoying. That thing has been getting more use than any other kaiju now it seems.

So what are we thinking the chances are that the final boss of this series is gonna be an alternate version of Gatanothor/Gatanzoa? Noticed he was suspiciously absent from that preview video, so it’s making me think there’s a reason he didn’t even get name dropped.

I was sorta thinking some hybrid of all three finale monsters of TDG, so Gatanzoa crossed with Dyna's final boss crossed with Gaia's final boss.

Eh... I don't see it. Gatanothor, Zeluganoid and Zog are far too different from each other in terms of theme and personality for anything to attempt a merger of all three.

Some carvings in earlier Trigger marketing showed him fighting Cthulhu. So, I can bet that the final boss will be based on the octopus-dragon-man

The last Lovecraftian kaiju, Nightfang, in Taiga was great. I'd love to see whatelse they can do.

Regarding the final boss, isn't Gatanothor the son of Cthulhu in the Lovecraft stories? Haven't read those so I wouldn't know too much. If Trigger is going to fight Cthulhu, then you bet I'll be cheering on for Trigger as much as the characters will!

Going back down memory lane, I'm pretty sure Tiga was the first Ultraman I ever saw manyyyy years ago, thanks to my uncle getting me a dvd of the first volume. Didn't become a massive Ultra fan until a few years ago, although I do remember that particular giant of Light in a nostalgic sort of way. Now after watching Tiga recently and greatly enjoying Z & the Z Chronicles, it's such a perfect time to be a TDG fan!

First episode was good. Not as good as Z’s first episode, but overall I’m feeling positive on the show. Protag’s fun, not as immediately endearing as Haruki, but still, promising start.
Spoiler:
Bruh, the flower Kengo made is gonna become Gijera, or the equivalent. It’s named R’yleh, and he wants everyone to smile when it blooms? Can’t be anything else. Pacing feels a bit weird, but maybe that’s just an issue of trying to get all their cards on the table in one episode, and it’ll even out starting next episode. The fight was good, mixed feelings on the initial part of the battle, high energy and a cool angle but felt a bit too fast and he looked CGI in some shots, but it got better.
Not a perfect first episode by any means, but I quite enjoyed it and look forward to what’s to come.

While Z's first episode was better, this was a good first impression. Loved the action in this episode.

By the way, is it just me or is Kengo just Yusuke Godai but in Ultraman?
