A pile of guts with Godzilla heads growing out of it, how is this not edgy?
And it's also not Godzilla in the slightest. GINO 2:it came from Japan!

When somebody says something's edgy (in a bad way) it means its too obvious that it's trying to be hip and cool. Shin Gojira is not edgy.

H.R Giger's art is not edgy , I did not say that directly.How much of the concept art did you look through, you really don't find any of it a little over exsisively gore?

Watch some Frank Henenlotter or early Peter Jackson if you want "exsisively" gory. Nothing in Shin suggests outlandish amounts of it.

I keep seeing hybrid used to describe the tail creatures and I think it misses the point a little bit. Godzilla learns to adapt over the course of the movie and the final shot shows he's made the leap from one, massive creature to a collection of smaller ones. They're humanoid yes but they're no more hybrids than Godzilla's previous forms - you wouldn't call them amphibian/reptile/dinosaur hybrids for instance.

In fact I think Toho's official names might be simply Godzilla 1st Form, 2nd Form, etc.

Even if the concept art is 'edgy' (and wow, what an overused term), why does it matter? The majority of concept art isn't used, and it's not like they made Shin-Godzilla overly gory or anything.

I have never seen anyone so adamantly hell-bent on denouncing a film. I guess some of the G14 detractors come close, but when we've gone to the point to where our arguments are "It's based on H.R. Giger art so it's edgy,"and constantly calling Shin 'GILO,' there's nowhere else to go but up.

Quite glad none of this made it into Shin Godzilla. Too far in one direction. Too new for the sake of new. Too, well, edgy.
