Very hyped about this!
I wonder exactly how short this short film will be. Hopefully it’ll be longer than GvG 1, cuz I need to see more of that Godzilla design, damnit

It is a good design - kind of reminds me of a less messed up Shin honestly.Jermobooka wrote: ↑Sun Aug 01, 2021 10:02 pm Very hyped about this!

There a rough estimate on when this might be released?
I unapologetically, wholeheartedly, and without a doubt hate Godzilla vs Kong.

Is this supposed to be a short or a feature film?

That’s a really clean update of the Showa Gigan design. I know I’m being “that guy”, but imo would be hyped for a figure.Gotschiller wrote: ↑Mon Feb 21, 2022 7:39 pm Fall 2022 release.

Finally some news.
We might have to wait a little bit but that’s just fine by me I waited five years for the next sequel of 2014

I want to be excited, but I'm really not digging the look for Gigan and the same goes for Godzilla.

So the first one was barely this little minute long thing, right? Would the sequel be more of the same or no?
Seems like a lot of fandom hype for a whole lotta nothin'.

Most likely it will be long as the G vs Hedorah rematch

In all seriousness, I too love the design. I love Godzilla's design as well.

Re: GvG 2
Is it possible that they director of this could one day end up doing a fully-CG feature film of Godzilla?

Re: GvG 2
I mean, we haven't gotten a big Godzilla fight from Toho in...forever it feels like. It's been 6 years since the last live action film, and that was a solo. We had the anime trilogy which rather go into some weird nihilistic message I couldn't freaking fathom, and I'm a nihilist. Then the anime series was more of a Jet Jaguar joint than a Godzilla thing, and we barely even saw Godzilla. I mean literally, not only was his screen time like a minute but we barely saw him even when he was there because of the red mist and camera angles and other annoyances.Legion1979 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 23, 2022 5:42 pm So the first one was barely this little minute long thing, right? So that leaves the shorts if we want to see some Toho Godzilla classic versus action. A few minutes of Godzilla fighting Hedorah in last year's short film, a fight with Gigan coming up here, and some shoddy videos from the two Godzilla rides sadly are the most action we've gotten in years. So yeah, when something like this comes along we're going to pounce on it considering the lack of anything else going on. Whenever Toho gets the right kind of greedy to start producing full length versus films again, a short like this would barely get a mention. But until then? Hell, let's have some fun with it!

I'm not crazy about Gigan's short beak, but otherwise I like the design.

Short film: Godzilla vs Gigan Rex (2022)
I’m pretty sure there might’ve been a thread about this a yearish ago, but it looks like we’re finally going to get the Godzilla vs Gigan short film announced a while back….on 11.3!
However, what’s very interesting is that it’s not just Godzilla vs Gigan, but “Godzilla vs Gigan Rex”. You can see what presumably is “Gigan Rex” towards the end of the trailer. It’s this weird red Gigan!
As an aside, I feel like this means we’ll get a Godzilla short film every year. Last year was Godzilla vs Hedorah. This is exciting!
Unless I’m also missing something, the Godzilla vs Gigan from last year was just a weird teaser and not an actual short film? Given that this has an actual release date, it feels like that contest by gemstone was more of a test to make this short film with more time.

All I really see what I watched that is Bandai twisting Toho's nippples to create new designs they can sell at the Godzilla Store.
