And ever since is forever associated with Russia in the Godzilla franchise as a whole.

According to Wikizilla, the idea of a flying monster and UFO scenario was inspired by a news story involving a United States Army Captain chasing after a UFO and crashing:
https://wikizilla.org/wiki/Rodan_(film)#Development

It stands to reason that it's possible other aerial events influenced the film, but that doesn't mean Rodan has any sort of influence or involvement with Russia. This reeks of the "Angurius is a Russian allegory bs". And I'm not sure how Godzilla represents America...

Probably because the U.S is the one who dropped the bomb, and Godzilla is an allegory for the horrors of nuclear weapons. Godzilla becomes America by association.

On topic, I can see how Mantell influenced the film. Rodan even has a scene echoing what happened.

I think it’s okay people have their personal beliefs about were the inspiration for… certain monsters come from. There may be an objective truth, but it’s not hurting anyone to allow these guys to believe what they do.

Anyways, the ‘64 Rodan is my favourite design. Don’t know what it is about it, but it just does it for me.

Godzilla is America, Rodan is Russia and Ghidorah is China are long time things I've heard I'm this fandom.

Godzilla and Rodan do attack these cities in DAM so who knows.

By that logic, Godzilla, Rodan, Angurius and pretty much every monster, represent Japan, because they attack Japanese cities. That's why this logic is so weird to me, all of it is super selective and ignores direct statements on what the monsters were designed/based around.

Godzilla repsenting America if true is obvious. He represents the atomic bomb. Godzilla attacking New York if true is the connection to Rodan and Moscow if Toho truly wanted him to be Russia is the example nit just they attacked the city.

Sanda and Gaira represent South and North Korea, and the film is an analogy for the Korean War.

Mechagodzilla 2021 symbolizes the CCP and their attacks on Hong Kong, while Godzilla symbolizes the Hong Kong protestors.

Are you sure MG21 doesn't represent manmade horrors beyond our comprehension/the consequences of industrial society???

The original Rodan was the first kaiju movie I ever saw, and to this day he's my favorite kaiju. Love seeing him and playing as him in pretty much anything.

I first saw Rodan on the Super Scary Saturday show. Some of my favorite Godzilla films were first seen there, but I clearly remember Rodan being one of them.

I’d just thought I’d ask where the thread for Gigan is.
