I hope this is true for me, because I certainly want to like it.Legion1979 wrote:Godzilla vs Hedorah is one of those movies I think most people GROW to like.

Both Mecha-Godzilla movies were the best for me. Its pretty hard because all of them suck. The early Showa were better.

You kind of just contradicted yourself there, boss.

I'll gladly eat crow if it doesn't turn out that way....but at this point it feels painfully obvious, as it has for months.

^LOL, yeah he did. I voted Terror of Mechagodzilla. It's my favorite Godzilla film, ever. Anyways I was looking for reference pics of Titanosaurus when I came across this review: http://www.reviewbusters.net/movie/terr ... zilla.aspx
I was like "Whaaaaaat??" 1.75/10?? Here's the summary blurb at the end:
"I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. I've struggled through the worst of the Godzilla movies and now the ones I enjoy the most are coming up, so look for some happier reviews from me. It's really a shame that the father of Japanese monster movies, Ishirô Honda, decided to make The Terror of Mechagodzilla his final movie. While he does add in his flavor and a greater focus on human drama, it really falls short of some of his previous works. 1.75 out of 10."

I pretty much tuned out when I read that ridiculous score.
Pfft..Everyone's a "critic" these days. Isn't it lovely?

That's great, but it's funny because he described something that sucks as "best". There was irony there.

I kind of like Godzilla vs Gigan. It's not my favorite, but it introduced everyone's favorite chicken-cyborg, Gigan.
I mean, when has there ever been the idea of a giant killer poultry fused with a robot?

Like everything good, it was stolen from Little Richard.gzilla46 wrote:I mean, when has there ever been the idea of a giant killer poultry fused with a robot?
Tokyo, a smoldering memorial to the unknown, an unknown which at this very moment still prevails and could at any time lash out with its terrible destruction anywhere else in the world.

But that's actually where I think Gigan came from. He was a chicken that was taken by the aliens and subjected to horrible experiments, resulting in Gigan.eabaker wrote:Like everything good, it was stolen from Little Richard.gzilla46 wrote:I mean, when has there ever been the idea of a giant killer poultry fused with a robot?
Because, he kind of does look like a chicken if you think about it.

Yup, time for a necro bump
Terror Of MG and Hedorah are in the top best of the Showa series and some of the best Godzilla films in general. Both are up there with Gojira, Mothra vs Godzilla, Ghidorah The Three Headed Monster for the Showa series, but I’m partial to ToMG

Apparently I voted for ToMG at one point. I'd recast my vote for Hedorah today if I could.
