I’m guessing your user avatar is a character from this franchise.

Something that we've gone over before with the Inhumanoids ,and the rest of Hasbro's stable of characters. As we know for a short while IDW had tried to bring all the Hasbro characters from G.I. Joe ,Transformers, Micronauts, and the rest in one cohesive ,shared universe. Something that had been played with since the 80's. It started with the REVOLUTION event, but never really took off ,and ended with the UNICRON event. Anywho, in post-REVOLUTION G.I. JOE dealt with remnants of Cobra causing trouble in Mongolia. Most specifically the Dreadnoks, and the rather creepy Cobra psychic, Crystal Ball. In the course of the mission Crystal Ball ended up summoning a gigantic monster which emerged from the Earth, and pulled Crystal Ball, and the remaining Dreadnoks beneath the Earth.
Image
The rest of the short lived Joe book dealt with these monsters. Originally they were intended by the book's controversial author, Aubrey Sitterson, as the long awaited return of the Inhumanoids. The story line was outlined, and approved by Hasbro. However, Hasbro found that they had let the rights to the Evil That Lies Within lapse. So Metlar, and company were left in the dust. To replace the Inhumanoids, the Fatal Fluffies(https://tfwiki.net/wiki/FatalFluffy), featured in the third G.I. Joe miniseries,"Pyrmids of Darkness" were brought in to fill the void.
In the original script for the story arc, the Ravager of the Mantle, Tendrill, was the one to emerge, and make off with the Dreadnoks. Later on Joe heavy machine gunner, Rock'N'Roll, was to be transformed in a monster by the Undead Horror, D'Compose. The Joe Team using a drilling machine like the ones the Russians used in "The Surma Plan" , would journey to the Inhumanoids' lair. There they'd encounter a swarm of young ,Ssslithers. Then finally the Tyrant of the Core himself, Metlar.
Anywho, even before the Hasbro Revolution. As some may know. IDW had a crossover event story involving Lovecraftian deities spreading through the multiverse entitled INFESTATION II.
Image
Crystal Ball was a big part of that portion of the Lovecraftian Infestation. A Cobra archaeologist, Dr. Llund ,had uncovered in the Antarctic, a weird statue that she claimed was speaking to her, and could open doorways. Using a Cobra mental facility, and through a volunteered blood sacrifice of a Cobra Viper. She opened said doorway ,and transformed most of facility's personnel into twisted creatures right out of IN THE MOUTH OF MADNESS. Crystal Ball, along with Storm Shadow, the Interrogator, and several inmates of the facility. Who due to their insanity were unaffected by siren song emanating from the idol. Stopped Dr. Llund from spreading the idol's song. It was Crystal Ball who actually spoke to the Old Ones in their own language, and was a follower of them. He told them Llund was fouling things up on how she was doing it. That it was too limited. And promised them to bring them into the world correctly. The door was shut. Temporarily though. It was revealed at the story's end that Crystal Ball had several of the idols in his possession. But not all of them in order to bring the Old Ones over here.
Those familiar with Cobra mystic, Crystal Ball, probably know he wasn't the most popular characters of the Joe line. But got used from time to time. With his hypnotic abilities, and psychic talents being utilized. It wasn't until IDW used him in their relaunch of G.I. Joe. Most specifically in the second COBRA book that Crystal Ball got reinvented, as a rather creepy, Alan Moore-esque figure in the Cobra hierarchy, as a counselor, expert on esoteric arts. Combined with the INFESTATION II story ,and remembering the details of his filecard.
Image
Which went into a a bit of detail about how he was descended from a long line of gypsies purported to have strange abilities. I couldn't help but draw a connection to the INHUMANOIDS episode "The Evil Eye" where on an expedition into Borneo led by Eart Corps' human antagonist, Blackthorne Shore. In his search for the Inhumanoid Ssslither. Had brought along a compass right out of your local Spirit of Halloween franchise. The pointer on compass was severed human hand that pointed the direction of where Sslither was imprisoned.
Image
If not for the intervention of the local natives, Blackthorne would've found Ssslither's prison, and no doubt released the former Inhumanoid ruler. But I always thought with Crystal Ball's affinity for the Old Ones, and as the Joe arc originally supposed to feature the Inhumanoids. That maybe the severed hand that served as the compass' pointer. Had perhaps belonged to one Crystal Ball's ancestors. Alog with the Cobra mystic, I could picture the archeologist, Doctor Llund, with her expertise in the Old Ones, and obscure legends. As possibly being a colleague of Blackthorne Shore as well. Or the possibility of a fan fic, story featuring Blackthorne recruiting Crystal Ball himself to help him find another Inhumanoid, or some other ghastly horror to bring under his control to obtain the power he craves. Or Earth Corps having to deal with the Rasputin-esque Crystal Ball themselves in order to stop him releasing either the Old Ones ,or one of their progeny unto the world.

Coming this year, fully hitting next as part of the TRANSFORMERS LEGACY UNITED line of figures. Which piqued my curiosity when I saw this upcoming line of figures is from the INFERNAC UNIVERSE.(https://tfwiki.net/wiki/Infernac_Universe) The name of which homages Infernak, the realm at the Earth's core ruled by Metlar. Also the spin-off line from Tonka's Go-Bot line, purchased by Hasbro with the rest of the company, the Rock Lords. Transforming living rocks. Anywho here's the review of the first figure to released from this line, Magneous.
