Hypothetical Other States
Burning Godzilla: If Godzilla were to ever absorb too much radiation for even his body to handle, his body would undergo a transformation that would spell doom for all life on the planet. First, his body would grow in size, from 100 meters to 150 and from 80,000 tons to 140,000. This would be due to his flesh extending and growing cancerous, horrid tumors erupting from all across his body. He would move much slower, however he would become far more powerful, to the point where foes that are too much for him to defeat alone in his base form would be incapable of fighting him for more than a moment. This would be due to his internal temperature skyrocketing to millions of degrees Celsius, turning his outer body into a blazing tower that boils the earth and renders miles of terrain uninhabitable with his presence. His energy attacks would become powerful enough to turn entire islands into molten rock and have the heat of a nuclear explosion’s heart. Eventually, he would either explode and render the surface uninhabitable for ten million years, or meltdown and irradiate the entire planet as he sank to the very core.
Super Godzilla: Merging Godzilla’s DNA with that of the space monster “King Ghidorah” caused a reaction that indicates doing so to Godzilla himself would initiate an immense transformation. His power would skyrocket to levels beyond even that of the hypothetical “Burning” state. Some have even suggested he may grow wings like those of King Ghidorah, granting him flight in addition to abilities we cannot even begin to fathom. Causing this transformation on purpose has been proposed, however it has been shut down due to the sheer scale of the threat that would need to face the Earth for such an action to be taken.
When I first made this post, I had no intention of crafting a full on setting in another thread. This was simply a one-off, a burst of creativity. Hence the distinction of “hypothetical” transformations. But, creativity is often a spiral, what starts as a burst being only the beginning of a long and winding road.
Which is why today, the hypothetical becomes reality! (No Spectre Godzilla, alas, but that idea isn’t gone, just reshaped for a later purpose

)
Super Godzilla/Burning Godzilla

Origins
For 10 years, it was believed by humanity that Godzilla was the most powerful being in all of creation. Other kaiju could challenge him, but they could do nothing more than minor harm, that was swiftly undone. He was divine, unstoppable, and utterly immortal.
Then from the stars, death came.
King Ghidorah shattered these notions when its initial encounter with the leviathan was a brutal decimation, showing the whole world that Godzilla was no closer to invincibility than everyone else. And though the king of terror was driven away eventually by the combined efforts of Godzilla,
Mothra,
Anguirus, and
Rodan, it still left a distinct impact. Not just the millions its rampages had claimed, but a mark on the collective consciousness. Humanity was not just small on its own planet, but this planet was small in the grand scheme of the cosmos. The dreaded king of destruction was but another resident of this mote of dust spiraling through an endless void.
And the truth that Godzilla was not the absolute power only got hammered in further in the coming decades.
Monster X,
Titanosaurus,
Mechagodzilla (a creation of man, but still nearly slayed Godzilla regardless), Biollante,
SpaceGodzilla, and
Obsidius. All superior, all requiring outside aid for him to overcome. But this all came to a head when the Kilaak invaded, unveiling their lord of entropic fire,
Desghidorah. The alliances that Godzilla had built up over the years were still not enough before the artificial devil, the Earth’s kaiju breaking like waves against the immovable rock of his body. Desperate times called for desperate measures, and nothing bred more desperation than looming oblivion.
When King Ghidorah had been driven away, the battle had torn pieces of its form off. Fragments of alien, eldritch DNA which humankind soon realized was utterly hostile to anything else. During the genetic engineering boom, tests involving the injection of Ghidorah’s cells into other tissues were conducted, producing only violent destruction of both. Even kaiju genome was shredded apart, a surging of energy that it could not handle. Except, for Godzilla’s. The samples eventually burst and dissolved the same as all others, but before then there was an internalization of that power, a skyrocketing which if applied to Godzilla himself would be awe-inspiring.
And so it was done. Into the spiritual leviathan they injected the cells of King Ghidorah, the only option left to destroy Desghidorah. And it was a success. Godzilla entered a metamorphosis, the world shaking as golden wings of light burst from his back and his form changed into something even grander than it was before. He and the ebon destroyer collided in a battle that caused global earthquakes, shifted weather patterns around the world, and left all residents of the planet gazing in awe and terror. Desghidorah was vaporized by a glorious ray of light, the Hypernova Beam, leaving not a trace of its existence. Super Godzilla dissipated, the leviathan in his normal state once again, which swiftly passed out.
The transformation came with a heavy price. Lesions covered his form, the result of power exploding out from his insides. Upon his back were grotesque burns, where the wings had sprouted. It took days for Godzilla to rise, his friends having carried him back to the sea to let him rest there. He was more violent since then, along with a strange excess of power for months afterwards that almost involuntarily erupted from him. The Shobijin demanded humanity destroy every trace of King Ghidorah’s DNA, and to never tamper with Godzilla’s genetics again. The world had been immensely lucky that this was all that had come of such an event, the end of it all had almost occurred according to the wise priestesses.
Unfortunately, only a year after the Kilaak invasion, the beginning of the new millennium, the Earth learned that the promise had not been kept. They also learned that gambling with humanity’s future was not too much for the GDF.
Orga had arrived on Earth, and after a reign of terror, found its teeth around Godzilla’s flesh. The Millennian colossus tried to optimize and perfect the leviathan’s genome, as it had all the other kaiju it had obtained the DNA of, but this was different. Godzilla’s genes were able to adapt and swiftly regenerate, only kept from turning into a cancerous nightmare by built-in inhibitors which could turn off when needed. Orga refused to be inhibited, and so ballooned in an effort to control what it believed to be the perfect DNA it had sought for billions of years. In fear of what could be, the GDF called upon Super Godzilla, against his will. The roar of rage and betrayal that left his maw upon the transformation beginning sent chills down the spines of all humanity, embedding itself into the collective unconsciousness so thoroughly that even those born after that shout remember it.
Orga was annihilated, swiftly at that, but it was a hollow victory. Super Godzilla cast himself into the ocean, disappearing from all radar and sensors. For four years, Godzilla was not seen by a soul.
Four years of peace, a calm before the storm that would forever change the world and begin a new era.
The worst fears of humankind were realized when Godzilla arose, glowing like a burning mountain, covered in tumors and taller than before. Burning Godzilla assaulted the United States, the nation that had created the atom bomb which birthed him in the first place, and rendered it uninhabitable for centuries in a matter of days.
His second transformation into Super Godzilla had been too much, initiating a critical mass that led to his nuclear reactor of a heart entering overdrive. In addition to a wrath with the fury of a million suns, there was a timer on humankind’s continued life. Eventually he would either explode with the force of a colossal asteroid impact, blanketing the Earth in ash and fire, or meltdown, irradiating the entire planet as he sank into the core.
The only way to survive would be to kill him. Something easier said than done, as millions of
MUTOs discovered when the swarms approached him over the course of the following few days. Each one was erased in thermonuclear hellfire, nothing more than moths hurling themselves into a flame. He was the most powerful entity on Earth as originally believed, all those years ago.
Despite the impending end of life, the world’s kaiju turned against civilization upon learning the initial plan to destroy Burning Godzilla. They dredged Gojira’s skeleton up from Tokyo Bay, studying it to learn the secrets of the forgotten superweapon.
The Oxygen Destroyer.
Facilities around the world were besieged by the monsters for trying to create the ultimate blasphemy, a weapon that was the absolute antithesis of life itself. Its test had born something which killed the mate of Godzilla who appeared in 1954, and established that man was the deadliest of all animals when cornered. As though the kaiju of the world were carrying out the wish of the man who had built it, for it to be purged from all history.
When that idea was aggressively vetoed, a new plan was formed. The closest friends of Godzilla would gather and try to talk him down, to give himself up to be destroyed.
His own son would plead with him to allow death to be brought by the gathered forces of the world, instead of letting it drag them all down with him. He, Mothra, Anguirus, and Rodan were there to do this. And with them would have been a vast army of kaiju and anti-kaiju weaponry from humankind, to either perform the mercy killing or engage him in a desperate last stand.
How successful this plan would have been is unknown. For before the coalition was met with Burning Godzilla, they learned that even the slightest tampering with the Oxygen Destroyer’s legacy had resulted in Hell’s gates flung wide open. A colony of
Destoroyahs engaged them in a colossal showdown, a maddening war of twisted forms besieging Earth’s defenses. In a better timeline, a brighter world, the swarm was vanquished with little casualty and the planned meeting with Godzilla was had. In that world, an Aggregate wouldn’t have plunged its jaws into Godzilla Junior’s chest, drawing his DNA out and beginning a transformation into the epitome of horror.
What Burning Godzilla discovered was not a coalition, but a graveyard, his comrades and family buried within it, along with everyone else. And standing over it all, a wretched, grim reaper. The skeleton of his mate, wrapped up in the antithesis of life embodied in countless microbes from an age long gone.
The resulting battle was, and hopefully will always be, the most destructive battle that has ever occurred on Earth. The explosions from their beam clashes caused global nuclear winter, the sheer levels of radiation and anti-oxygen spewed from their bodies rendered sizable swathes of the planet utterly uninhabitable, and Destoroyah with its flight ensured the destruction was not limited to a single ruined nation. Two beings collided and caused the sixth mass extinction event, plunging the world into a new, darker era which forced humanity and kaiju alike into a daily struggle for life.
Their battle seemed never ending, neither gaining ground. It was only when Destoroyah, in all its sadism, brought Godzilla back to the site where their battle had begun, that a change occurred. Junior had survived, somehow lived despite a grotesque wound in his chest and abdomen that should have killed him ten times over. He cried out to his father, death dragging him over the threshold by the second.
Burning Godzilla entered a hypercritical state, spurned by the stress to his heart that the sight caused. His death was minutes away. But to Destoroyah’s horror, this also meant the power flowing through him increased exponentially. Beams with the power to crack a moon apart rippled out from the blazing king of destruction’s maw, shredding death incarnate to cinders. Grasping the colossus of wretched death and hurling it into the air, the apocalyptic god bent low and released a pulse of energy from his back, where his spines had once been. The assault struck Destoroyah, both filled with raw power beyond anything seen on Earth and with the supernatural energies of the Destruction Spirit. Destoroyah was quite literally erased from existence.
But its deeds were not. Death still reigned over Earth now, and in mere seconds, the final blow would be struck. Until Junior clawed his way towards his father, clinging on to life with willpower alone. Godzilla looked upon his son, reaching out to him with a bloated, cancerous hand.
And passed the Destruction Spirit unto him. Along with all of the power flowing through him, most of which was released into the depths of space by the new king of the monsters in an immense beam of light to ensure he would not be overloaded. A new, darker era had begun, but a new Godzilla had arisen as well.
Physical Description
Super Godzilla’s body was more muscular than his base form. He was dark gold all across his form, except for his spines, which shone with orange, yellow, and blue light swimming through them. His sharp scales were even more jagged, nearly being outright spikes coating his form. Brilliant wings like King Ghidorah’s extended from his back, sails of energy which could move like organic limbs. His maw was filled with more teeth, sharper and more straightened out than the normal state’s unaligned mess. The lower jaw could split open when necessary. His eyes were crimson, and with them was a slit on his forehead which began to open and unveil a third eye during his second appearance. The club at the end of his tail fell away, replaced with a scythe resembling the spines upon his back. Embedded in his chest was a shimmering sphere of blue light, a miniature star. Energy of varying colors constantly surged around him like bolts of lightning.
Burning Godzilla was malformed, coated in cancerous flesh that made him appear bloated and grotesque, scaly flesh rolling over itself all down his form like melted and resolidified candle wax. His muscles also grew larger in turn, but it was not enough to keep his stride from being ponderous and slow. New spines erupted from the bases of his old ones, jagged and twisted new additions that grind against and tangle around one another. This continued with the spikes of the tail club, made worse by the holes deteriorated into the bone sphere itself. The blazing king’s maw opened unnaturally wide, unveiling countless new teeth erupting outwards. Weary, pained eyes gazed past superfluous flesh nearly growing over them. His entire body glowed like a star, slowly cycling through the numerous colors found on his spines, this process being rapidly sped up as to become blinding when he entered a hypercritical state.
In that state, his spines had melted away to reveal a colossal torrent of numerous colors in fire.
Personality
As Super Godzilla, the leviathan was incredibly aggressive, attacking his foes without relent and barely restraining himself from attacking his allies. Had his energy not been used up against Desghidorah, he likely would have assailed the gathered army of monsters.
As Burning Godzilla, anything in his sight was blasted asunder. Intense agony coursed through his form at all times, driving him into insanity. The sight of his son was the only thing that brought a brief respite to the madness.
Powers
All the powers of the original Godzilla were still present in these two forms and enhanced. This list only covers new capabilities or powers which received greater change than a simple increase in potency.
Super Godzilla
Supreme Atomic Ray: Instead of the napalm-esque stream of Godzilla’s typical form, Super Godzilla’s primary weapon was a thin ray. Gold gravitonic energy and blue radiation swirling together and compressed into a minute point, this photon stream bore insane levels of power. It sliced through Desghidorah and Orga with little resistance, making the most powerful attacks of even his base form look pathetic in comparison.
Levitation/Flight: Thanks to the DNA of Ghidorah flowing through him, the divine monster king was unbound by gravity. Even without using his wings he was capable of moving through the air, and with them he could fly at speeds of up to Mach 4.
Godly Pulse: His nuclear pulse, in addition to far greater power and heat, would also interfere with gravity. Those caught by the initial blast would experience heightened gravity smashing them down into the ground, while further away objects would begin to float for a few moments until gravity returned to normal.
Destruction Crescents: From the scythe on his tail, Super Godzilla could release deadly blades of golden energy that carved into a foe and lacerated them deeply.
Super Punch: By channeling energy into his fists, the ascended leviathan was able to strike with force to send foes far heavier than him flying like they weighed far less. This was often used in conjunction with his flight to deliver a series of potent blows that carried a foe over miles in a matter of seconds.
Nuclear Impact: Super Godzilla could charge into an opponent at high speeds, crashing into them and discharging an immense charge of energy into their body. Lesser opponents would have instantly detonated, but Desghidorah and Orga were able to resist it enough to only have the series of violent blasts go off in their muscle layer. This still resulted in gruesome wounds, and exposed organs in the latter case.
Divine Spears: The transcendent god of destruction had a significant change to his Spine Lasers aside from a drastic increase in potency. Now, the gold and blue rays specifically targeted a foe, twisting through the air to ensure contact.
Hypernova Beam: From the star embedded into his chest, Super Godzilla could unleash his ultimate attack. A colossal pillar of azure light, the ray reached a temperature of a few billion degrees, processes which outright defy our current understanding of science being all that kept it contained in the stream itself and not instantly destroying the planet. It is likely that it would have destroyed the planet anyway had it not been fired upwards. Desghidorah, a creature who was barely scratched by the most powerful attacks of the Earth’s monsters, was erased instantly.
Burning Godzilla
Immense Body Temperature: Burning Godzilla’s very body burned at insane levels of heat, making simple contact often brutal for other kaiju.
Catastrophic Atomic Ray: A thermonuclear geyser of atomic power arranged of varying colors, Burning Godzilla’s primary weapon was far more voluminous than his base form’s blast, enough nuclear material to drown an entire city in only one usage. It also burned far hotter, melting deep into the very ground where it landed and poisoning it.
Morphed into the
Extinction Spiral Ray within his hypercritical state, becoming a stream of energy with a white spiral wrapping around it. This beam shook the planet with every usage, vaporizing trails into the very earth without even touching it, and ripping Destoroyah’s perfect form asunder with gruesome ease. The crater they created as the god of anti-life is akin to those from the largest asteroid impacts in Earth’s history.
Armageddon Pulse: Nuclear Pulses constantly rippled off of Burning Godzilla’s form unintentionally, but when desired, the apocalyptic king could release a wave with the radius of an actual nuclear detonation, only even more potent in its power to ensure nothing remained standing. This would blast away the flesh from his body, revealing muscle beneath, but this damage would be healed almost instantly by a regeneration factor kicked into overdrive.
Obliteration Conduction: By digging his claws or teeth into a foe, Burning Godzilla could discharge immense energy directly into their body, detonating large portions of their biomass and causing the rest to melt.
Absolute Destruction: The dying king’s spines were too malformed and tightly bunched to utilize the Spine Lasers, but when he entered his hypercritical state, something far deadlier replaced them. From his blazing back could be released a gargantuan pillar of light, like astral flames. Not only did it contain temperatures too hot for any known material to survive inside of, but it was also a release of the energies of the Destruction Spirit itself, erasing anything caught within from existence. Destoroyah was vanquished by this attack, ensuring not a trace of the nightmare remained.
