Yeah I heard of Invincible well before the show came out so I was already aware of that ending.

Just watched Akira...it was not what I expected, at all. Still not sure if I like it or not, but it is a great film regardless. It's a visual masterpiece at the very least.

Re: The Latest Movie/TV show You Watched Topic 2.0
I watched Ready or Not yesterday, which is ironically a Saw-like film just in time for the newest Saw. Same basic concept, people getting caught in dangerous games/traps and usually dying to the shock of no one. Not the best of horror films, but if you want dumb fun, you'll get exactly that.
Still don't know if I want to see the new one (Spiral). The first Saw was good, but the last few films have been forgettable torture porn/exploitation with little else going for them. Oh, and I just watched the first Saw in 4K the other day and the ending is still great to this day. Very atmospheric and well-made with solid characters and story.

I’m shocked no one talks about the Ip Man series on here. They’re excellent.
They’re kung fu movies that tackle social issues and are surprisingly emotional, I almost cried watching 3 and 4.
Haven’t watched 5 yet, but I heard it’s really bad.

Recently finished Curb Your Enthusiasm, eagerly awaiting season 11. Kinda blew almost every other comedy show out of the water, Larry David is a comedy genius. Really enjoyed The Producers homage in the season 4 (I think?) finale.
Saw The Long Goodbye and got a real kick out of that.
Currently watching Mr. Robot

Recently worked my way through all of the classic Wolf Man films (including the 2009 tribute film House of the Wolf Man) and it's been a fun experience. Haven't felt this passionate about werewolves in a long time.
My ranking:
The Wolfman (2010, director's cut) > Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man > The Wolf Man (1941) > House of Dracula > House of Frankenstein > House of the Wolf Man > Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein
Probably a controversial take to have the remake on top, but I don't care really. I think it's great and I always have. No shame.

Wrath of Man (2021)
A pretty good action movie/revenge thriller with Jason Statham as a man out to avenge the death of his son. Despite being the protagonist Jason Statham's character is not a good man but some of the bad guys are not completely evil either. In typical Guy Ritchie style it's not as straightforward as you might think, jumping back and forth through time and altering between
perspectives from both sides. Its one of the better films I've seen by Ritchie lately. That said it does drag on for slightly longer than it probably should have. Still slightly better than average for this sort of thing.

Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind. Beautiful film with such an interesting world and design. Any fans of Evangelion or Shin Godzilla should give it a watch as it's clear a few things in the film inspired Anno later. But beyond that, it's just a nice story with some beautiful themes.

Just got out of the theater after watching A Quiet Place Part II
Easily the best thriller film and theater experience I’ve had, possibly ever. Some jump scares actually managed to get me somehow. Really recommend giving it a watch when the opportunity presents itself.

The Royal Tenenbaums. I really enjoyed this movie, its funny, its beautiful to watch, and its got real heart. I wasn't a big fan of Fantastic Mr. Fox, but I now am much more interested in exploring Wes Anderson's Filmography.

The Conjuring 3... The Devil made me do it.
Not that this will come to anyone's surprise but it was boring. This feels like a spin off that is about 30 minutes to damn long. Without James Wan directing this series is going to end up much like the Insidious franchise with each films quality dropping.

I watched both The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It and A Quiet Place Part II in theatres yesterday. Out of the two, I prefer A Quiet Place Part II, but The Conjuring is really good, too.

Re: The Latest Movie/TV show You Watched Topic 2.0
I watched it on HBO Max yesterday, it was alright. Ed and Lorraine were great as usual and there were some nice shots of horror sprinkled in here and there, but not enough to keep me invested (read: on the edge of my seat) throughout like in the first 2 (not bringing back James Wan definitely hurt it). They also don't explore the whole court case enough and the second half of the movie drags a bit.XxComablack1937xX wrote: ↑Fri Jun 04, 2021 11:38 am The Conjuring 3... The Devil made me do it.

I was willing to give this new director the benefit of the doubt even though he directed the atrocious CoLL (it was only his first movie, after all), but now I know only James Wan can deliver the "oomph" factor behind the camera for these movies.

Sherlock, Jr. (1924). If I had never seen a silent film before, this would have been an almost perfect introduction.
How TF did they do that movie screen effect with the changing scenes?

That movie is insane! I think the Blu-ray supplements describe how some of the effects were done. Some (like Buster seemingly jumping through a person standing against a wall) were done in camera like a stage magic trick.

'Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles'- Now this is one crossover movie that perfectly nails everyone's characterization, balancing the aspects of both series, and tonal balance on top of great animation and action. Even though Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill (unfortunately) don't reprise their respective roles, it's clear Troy Baker is emulating them (rather well) in voicing both Batman and The Joker. As for which fight scene is my favorite, that would have to be Batman vs. Shredder (both rounds). I really didn't like The Scarecrow's mask though, and the post credit scene was pretty predictable. Still, this is definitely going on my list of favorite Batman movies.

Frankenstein's Army. Sort of starts out as a standard survival horror movie, but then gets really interesting. Cool designs, good gore effects, interesting aesthetic. Minus it sometimes being hard to hear sometimes it's a perfectly fun gory romp.
