I like heavy metal, but I would by no means describe myself as a fan (more like a casual enthusiast at most). I don’t listen to it any more or less than other types of music I like; and aside from some of the classics from the 70’s and 80’s I’d have a hard time naming songs or bands.
That being said, somehow Judas Priest’s song “Painkiller” managed to slip by me for nearly four decades. How did I not know about this song sooner?! It has immediately become my favorite metal song ever. It is perfect.
