Depression And Mental Health Support Thread
Is there anyone else here with depression issues? Lets just say over the years I have made a lot of mistakes I have alienated myself from my friends and it has driven me into a deep depression. I am not talking about people here but in general in my life. It sucks and causes me to feel terrible most of the time and has for years now. Its been a decade long battle now and I and I am still depressed.

I think there are a lot of people here who have struggled with depression. I myself struggled with it for a few years, although it took me a long time to realize what it was. When I finally did, I spent a little under a year on anti-depressants. I’m better now but sometimes I still have bad days.

My depression hit me bad today. I also have Asperger's Syndrome. Sadly it causes me to fixate on the cause of my depression.KaijuCanuck wrote:I think there are a lot of people here who have struggled with depression. That sucks. I hope your day gets better. Try to find something distracting to do maybe.Extreme Warhawk wrote:My depression hit me bad today. I also have Asperger's Syndrome. I'm very sorry to hear that. Is it centered around anything in particular?Extreme Warhawk wrote:Once again my depression has been hitting me bad the past few days.

Re: Depression And Mental Health Support Thread
No longer an issue as I've since forgiven myself and moved forward but before that I had a form of depression due to reflecting back on the years of how bad I treated my family such as times where I threatened to kill them and such as well as treating my sister horribly so never told them just waiting for myself to one day drop dead. Once I told them they simply told me that was all in the past and I wasn't the same person as I was years back having forgiven me since.
I also apparently suffer from excessive compulsive thoughts mainly involving things around fiction which has causes me to at times feel tense, anxious and stressed but I've been getting better with it due to the therapy I've been seeking and new medicine I've been given which helps. Believe this maybe tied to my autism and as my therapist thinks it basically might be a wave that goes up and down throughout my life. Guess that wave has came back up.
Though still suffering from it which is likely going to be a life long problem as thoughts never stop and that's what these ones I suffer from are just are simply just thoughts like any others. I've never the less have been improving given the problem was I've always been trying to control, force, make it perfect or get it right when I can't. I finally might had found my solution to it and that's not forcing it and simply let the thoughts flow and at my own will which had been working.

I've dealt with depression for nine years now, on top of having schizoid personality disorder, anxiety, ADHD and OCD-like tendencies. Not exactly easy to live with, but I've been doing fine with the new treatment I received last year.

Re: Depression And Mental Health Support Thread
I've decided my original post was a bit too personal, but long story short a decade and a half of bullying, social isolation, and other misfortunes have left me with little confidence in real world interactions.
I've become far less depressed than I was in 2014-16, but I still get lonely and frustrated with myself sometimes when I am alone.
I am going to counselling now, so at least that's a start.

Re: Depression And Mental Health Support Thread
Guys, briefly my story that touched my psychological state.
Two years ago I played very often in a casino - especially in this casimba casino - https://slotsspot.com/online-casinos/casimba-casino/
But it so happened that at one moment I lost a large amount of money. Well, it broke me very much.
But what I want to tell you is that the most valuable thing in such situations is the support of loved ones, so no matter how difficult it is for you, take care of always close people.
Well, now I play - but only in a free mode and on the Internet - and I get my share of excitement.
By the way, the link that I dropped was just for the game for free.

Re: Depression And Mental Health Support Thread
Been suffering from really bad hypochondria recently. I’m worrying about too many things that should be normal in the body, yet I’m making this gigantic fuss over. It’s really putting a damper on life when I’m just trying to enjoy myself and suddenly my internal thoughts are saying “dude what if you have a brain tumor”. It really sucks.
Reignited... and hopefully less weird this time around.

I'm making every step even further in my life. I shed out more to my family about things I wasn't proud of to get this stress off of me never having told them until now worried what they'd think of me like some creep and to my comfort still accepts me.
Couldn't feel more ease then ever.

Dude that’s the worst. I’ve been like that before, but less about medical issues and more like random things.Dynomy-DX wrote:Been suffering from really bad hypochondria recently. Been suffering with depression and anxiety most of my life as I can't coop with people that much as the shyness wears thin and yes I mostly afraid at what they'll do and what I do with my life as I think they'll judge me harsley and knock me for it. Bullied terrible during my school for being quiet and kept things to myself so they knew I would never stand up for myself or tell the teacher what they're doing to me. So hard for me at times to trust people.

Re: Depression And Mental Health Support Thread
Oh cool! We have a lovely thread like this?
My suggestion is finding local support groups, being proactive in your on-going recovery, reaching out to, continually developing, and maintaining a support network.
I know I've mentioned it elsewhere, but I'm diagnosed with whole lots of fun things! Borderline personality disorder, major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, gender dysphoria (not really, but needed to get on hormones), formerly on the autistic spectrum before having my diagnosis removed due to lack of symptoms, loads of trauma from a young age. Have been suicidal and survived through it, now I'm an advocate for mental health in my local community. ^v^
I'm sure if someone as messed up as me can push through and find their happiness, you all can too!
https://www.nami.org/ is a good organization in my experience. Try looking to them for resources, groups, and the like?

Drink 32oz of water a day, exercise daily for at least 30 minutes, take your meds as prescribed, eat healthy (count calories), reach out to your support network when you need them, practice basic hygiene, learn from your mistakes, forgive yourself for your failures, admit when you're wrong, be humble when you're right, be nice to animals, and try again.

I spent years living in a world of anxiety and regret. Support groups are helping me though.

Re: Depression And Mental Health Support Thread
I was diagnosed with depression in my freshman year of college. I've gotten better at managing it over the years but sometimes it's still pretty unbearable. My not-so-great solution is usually to get really drunk and watch Godzilla movies, or to log onto this forum and argue with people about Godzilla-related things. Godzilla has always helped to take my mind off personal issues in my life, and I think it's why I still watch these movies so often. TBH most of my posts on these forums are made when I'm a few drinks deep and looking to distract myself. The only actual helpful piece of advice I can give to other people struggling with depression is to learn how to be alone. Obviously it's vital to have a support network of friends and family, but it's also vital to learn how to be all alone, without much to do, and not fall down the rabbit's hole of self-loathing and suicidal thoughts. That's something I can definitively say I've gotten better at in the past five years.
