Toys and General Collecting Thread

Postby Shannon Squid » Wed Dec 31, 2014 4:09 pm

I could have sworn this place had a thread like this, didn't show up in the search so.... Guess it must have been erased in those hacking fiascoes. Oh well.

To kick things off then.

http://www.letstalknintendo.com/huge-amount-of-upcoming-toys-from-jakks-pacific/

Does anyone have any interest in Jakks Pacific's Nintendo stuff? Sure it's not Tamashii Nations, but it's just nice to see actual toys of this stuff in stores.

Wave 2 will be out in April. And a 4" Samus figure! Granted Figma already made a 6" inch one, but some of us are on budgets here....not really a fan of the Other M design either.

I might just get that Diddy kong, I have the yoshi and the bowser, they are actually pretty good. I recommend them. The Bowser is massive and correct in size. The Donkey kong.... not so much but it does have good articulation.

Also I think that Luigi has a better overall face than the figuarts one.

I need to get that Bowser figure. Might have to take a walk up to Target and see if they have it.

I've been collecting tones of Funko's stuff, to be honest I wasn't really much a toy collector before that.

I haven't really gone too far beyond that, but I am starting to branch out.

Picked up this furball today spur of the moment. Beautiful figure for the price.

^Nice! The Black Series has really been killing it lately. I love how damn large the Chewie' figure is.

I know. I have him standing next to my large G14 NECA and Chewie is up to Godzilla's waist. Just damn.

I've been thinking of picking up some Amiibo figures, not gonna use them for my WiiU but they might be neat to have on my shelf.

I need to get the Boba Fett from the line soon. He's a great figure.

Since I have Chewie now, I'm gonna have to get Han at some point. Just keep checking my local Walgreens or I can venture over to Target. I also have the Revoltech Darth Vader on it's way to me, so I don't see the point in getting the Black Series version. Hoping they scale decently. And that will be it for me as far as Star Wars goes. Darth Vader, Chewbacca, and Han being my favorite three characters.

I went through a brief Eva collecting phase.

Should probably get a Misato at some point, since she's my favorite now.

I'm rather surprised that Jakks is doing a 6" Skull Kid. Sure there's a Majora's Mask HD thing coming out, but it's still such [pleasantly] surprising choice.

These are the non-kaiju figures I've gotten in the last six months or so.

Marvel Legends Captain America Now!
Marvel Legends Amazing Spider-man
Marvel Legends Star Lord
Star Wars Black Series Luke
Star Wars Black Series Vader
Star Wars Black Series Speeder bike
Link Amiibo
Zelda Amiibo

I'm planning on focusing pretty heavily on the Black Series for a while instead of Pacific Rim toys like I had been. I had a lot of Star Wars toys as a kid but I was never really impressed with them. They were always on such a smaller scale compared to everything else except for GI Joes, but Joes have WAY better detailing and articulation. These new Black Series toys are head and shoulders above what came before them, which makes them the only Star Wars figures worth getting for me.

Got this glorious bastard for Christmas. Absolutely 100% the best Optimus Prime figure ever made, I don't think they can top this.

My wallet weeps.

Hey DrBreakfastMachine, how's that Scout Trooper? Been meaning to get the set, but was never sure on the quality of the Trooper which is the only thing I really want from the set.

^THOSE BOWSERS ARE MINNNNNEEEE!

OMG I have always wanted a Dry bones bowser! I can'te belive they are making him!

(I'll also take that deluxe piranha plant, (never have too many), shy guy and tanooki mario too.)

It'll only be time before they make a gigabowser...

Also can forsee potential for a dark bowser too in future waves above 4th. He just has slightly different hair but other than that is a straight repaint.

Tamashii will REALLY have to up their game to be a competitor with this range. Good amount are just average but some of them are really good, especially for what you are paying for them. (though honestly I don't think the Figma samus can be beat, it's a pity they didn't make more variants)

A Zero Suit Samus would look even better :D

The scout trooper is great aside from some minor gripes. The detailing on the bike and the trooper is great, and he fits onto the bike very easily because the handlebars and pedals are are rubber.

My big gripe is that the stand for the bike is a little weird and it's very easy to tip the whole thing over, but if you just want the trooper for display that shouldn't be an issue. The trooper is surprisingly just as articulated as any of the other toys in the line, and the one problem I'd point out is that his blaster is very small and falls out of its holster a little too easily, but if you keep it in his hand it's not going anywhere.
