Apparently, it was taken by Russian astronauts before they melted so I guess during the Space Race.LSD Jellyfish wrote: ↑Fri Feb 19, 2021 5:12 pmWhen was that taken? Really cool.

So, it would appear that the speed of light can be surpassed:

The video says this doesn't mean faster-than-light space travel, but, y'know, every journey begins with a first step, right?

I have been a proclaimed shark fans for years, yet i never even knew Hammerheads had binocular vision.. actually i could've sworn that power belonged to a different shark. IDK, maybe i'm just losing my mind.ShinGojira14 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 04, 2021 11:36 am Sharks. Sharks are amazing.

Unexplained sounds from the ocean.
They may not be living creatures larger than a blue whale, but they are strangely soothing!

Everyone been keeping up with the James Webb Space Telescope? This thing really is a game changer. Here's the (artificially colored) picture it took of the Pillars of Creation, a star-forming 'stellar nursery' 6,500 light-years away:
For comparison, here's the side-by-side with Hubble's Pillars of Creation picture. Hubble used visible light, while Webb used near-infrared, allowing it to punch through the dust and see, obviously, a lot more stars.

Those pictures are gorgeous, man. Can't believe someone finally managed to get a picture of my good side as I was summoning my Silver Surfer.

That is gorgeous beyond words. As terrifying as it can be, the universe can also be heavenly to behold.JAGzilla wrote: ↑Thu Oct 20, 2022 4:50 am Everyone been keeping up with the James Webb Space Telescope? Plus, look at all those stars! Those are all suns right there, and they’re just little dots compared to that massive cloud.

It really is impossible to wrap your head around the scale of what you're seeing in that image. Nothing we could use for comparison on Earth -including Earth itself- is even worth mentioning. Our entire planet would be totally insignificant next to any one of those little points of light, let alone the dust cloud itself.ShinGojira14 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 20, 2022 8:43 am Plus, look at all those stars! Orca solos a great white shark on camera. The ABC segment kinda sucks, but the actual footage is impressive. The shark never has a chance.

Slightly older articles, but a group of scientists have found out how to reverse the aging in mice. It might just be possible to reverse aging in our species someday.
