Playmates: Godzilla/Kong

Finally got my hands on SpaceGodzilla and big Kong and honestly both aren't bad at all. I'll expound on both in my reviews, but yeah, not so bad at all guys for the price and what they are.

I looked at these guys at Walmart, and I'm usually an easy mark, but the hard plastic on these really turns me off. It makes the toy seem really cheap to me. I hate to be negative but I just couldn't pull the trigger on either Kong. Had either of them been vinyl I would have gotten them.

I'm not crazy about the face on the big Kong, but otherwise looks nice, I really like my 6", can't wait to get some time to do my repaint on it, the sculpt is definitely there.

Big Kong? You mean the Lanard? Yah, it looks okay, but just not very much like the actual KSI Kong. The Playmates 6" looks a lot more like the KSI beastie...

they showed up here in southern virginia. Im kinda surprised since we live in a really small town. We're usually the last to get anything. The body on Kong is very similar to Kiko (son of kong) so Im gonna pick up and modify it later on.

The big Kong showed up at one of the local Walmarts. Looks good enough that I'd buy it, but current plan is to hold off for a while and see what other Kong figures surface as the movie gets closer.

Walmart had a case of the big 2004 Godzilla's, NO big King Kong though.

Today I picked up Shin Godzilla, Space Godzilla, 12" GFW Godzilla, and 12" Kong. Kong and the Big G are okay kid's toys, but Shin and Space G are pretty dire. So, now all I need are the 6" Kong and Gigan.

The straight Bandai reissues are a missed opportunity. Instead of reissuing the same figures that just came out last year, they should have reissued some older Bandai figs. Instead of crappy copies of Space G and Destoroyah, reissue the original Bandai versions, along with GMK Godzilla, and some of the GFW figs.

Agreed, It would be nice if they reissued the BC Destoroyah and SpaceGodzilla

So, uhh....does anyone know if these will be/are in the UK? Or are we gonna get screwed over again like with the NECA Burning Godzilla?

I don't think there's been any info released regarding that yet, but NECA's Burning Godzilla is hitting the UK in spring.

I saw it on their official Twitter. Another post on there seemed to suggest they might have new figures to reveal at Toy Fair next month.

Haven't seen this done yet, but for those wondering, the Playmates 12" Godzilla 2004 IS a new sculpt. Or, at least, has new sculpt parts. The head, spines, and tail are all new sculpts. The face itself is a lot more accurate to 2004's movie design while the 12" Bandai is more akin to the poster art of the film.
