Re: King Kong Toys
Now we just need Ann, Jack, Denham and some red shirts in an in-scale accessory set and I'll be all set.

You laugh, but damn if that wouldn't make for a killer display accessory.

Oh absolutely 100%, maybe little holes to peg the red shirts into to look like they're hanging on for dear life... sign me up
It'd probably be pretty easy to set up a diorama too, two pieces of texture painted Styrofoam would do the trick.

Re: King Kong Toys
I didn't get the NECA Kong before, but with these additions I might just have to reconsider.

Re: King Kong Toys
I at first thought "I wonder if this means Black and White Kong?" but now that I see it on a better screen, they ARE colored, though rather oddly. I think Illustrated Kong would actually fit with them very well. Not sure if that's deliberate, coincidence, or just me. I'd still pick up a set for the Monster shelf.

Re: King Kong Toys
Kong looked pretty good but those enemies look like Chris Chan made them out of Crayola Model Magic. I'd love to see O'Brien accurate models/figures like those Harryhausen ones from X-Plus.

Re: King Kong Toys
This is what I'm thinking. Either accessories for the Meat Eater or part of an accessory set that'll come with smaller creatures.Shenanigans wrote: ↑Fri Feb 05, 2021 12:08 pm Now we're talking!
There's no way they're making dinosaurs for Kong and NOT making a T-Rex to go with them. They posted this with no caption or info, so it's probably a teaser for a larger set. They look a little small with little-to-no articulation; accessories for a larger figure or part of an "accessory set", perhaps? Thinking that there's more to come regardless!
But, hell, even if this is the whole set, I'm on board. It's crazy seeing a toy of the 2-Legged Lizard, albeit a redesigned one.

Re: King Kong Toys
Accessories with a Meat Eater sounds like it.
I just find it interesting they can skirt this close to the 1933 film, especially with the two-legged lizard. That’s a pretty unique design that isn’t mentioned in the public domain novel (in which that particular creature that menaces Driscoll on the vine is actually a spider).

Anyone ever have this?

I might've had one like ten years ago. Type of thing that you don't realize how cool it is until you're nostalgic for it.

Re: King Kong Toys
I feel like I've seen that before. At like goodwill or something. Hard to say for certain, looks kinda generic. But something seems familiar about it.

Re: King Kong Toys
Noticing a distinct lack of articulation, aside from the mouth and head on the Pteranodon and maybe the neck of the lizard, but that only ever seems to be a me problem with figures so whatever.
Wish the lizard was closer to the movie model
But I suppose that can't be helped.
Definitely anticipating a big retrosaur now, hopefully several.

Re: King Kong Toys
I wouldn't be surprised if the two legged skink's tail and the Pteranodon's wings are bendy wire. Would give them articulation that fits without sculpt breaking. Also, I think I can see a peg for a jaw hinge on the skink.
I wonder if the differences are due to stylization on NECA's part or a forced differentiation from the actual film versions due to public domain rights boogaloo. Maybe both?
