Nostalgia Thread

Post by Lain Of The Wired »

A thread dedicated to sharing the Nostalgic things that made you a Godzilla fan.

Here's my contribution, an original promo for the Sci-fi Channel's "Monster's of the Rising Sun" & "Godzilla Inc." marathons
https://youtu.be/fQIygWC4oJg
https://youtu.be/RuZqjrnF0JU
I remember as a kid, I had a couple recordable VHS's where I recorded the marathons, which is how I remember watching these movies. Seeing these old promos again brings back a lot of cool memories~

I remember back when I was six, I got home from school (I was in public school at the time) one day and my Mom told me that there was a movie called "Godzilla" (king of the monsters) about to come on and that it was about a dinosaur. Immediately interested, I ran to the tv. Thus, I saw my first Godzilla movie.
Also this is the first movie to make me cry. I wept like no tomorrow as Godzilla died. I thought it was the end, until I learned about the other films...

Hm, about everything I remember that is Godzilla is nostalgia.

Going to G-Fest in, I think, 2011 was such a great memory. Terror of Mechagodzilla is probably the Godzilla film I have the most nostalgia for.

MonsterVision Godzilla Bash 94! I was so excited because that was my very first time getting to see the original.

I can remember checking this book out from the library a whole lot.
I can't believe that Godzilla was the only surviving member of its species, but if we continue conducting nuclear tests, it's possible that another Godzilla might appear somewhere in the world again.

I remember that book, too.

On Saturday mornings, I would sometimes see Super Scary Saturday on TBS. Godzilla and other kaiju films were often shown.

Grandpa Munster's Super Scary Saturday was my first exposure to both Godzilla's Revenge and King Kong vs Godzilla. Though I only vaguely remembered them until seeing them in their entirety several years later. Of course Ian Thorne's Godzilla was my favorite book as a kid.

I use to have a recording of Grandpa Munster hosting Ghidorah, the Three Headed Monster, on Super Scary Saturday. Loved all the puns he'd make like calling Rodan a "Road-hog" and joking about three heads being better than one. Those were the days..

Also, here's my other contribution, The Blue Öyster Cult MonsterVision promo
https://youtu.be/04veBS7vxTs
Back when I was a kid, I remember having Terror of Mechagodzilla recorded, and this promo played right before the movie would start.
I miss promos like these.

Same. This is the first exposure I had to Godzilla in my school library, and I spent years afterwards learning how wrong it was--but I still love it and have always been sad I couldn't find a copy at a price I was able to justify.

Used to pass there all the time years ago. I remember always getting really stoked whenever more 10 second clips of new Godzilla movies appeared on the site.

He killed "me" in one of his kaiju fan fic novels on the site, which was really awesome to me at the time.

I faintly remember a story on there about giant inflated balloon kaiju attacking, and residents offering their pets for sacrifices
EDIT: Just checked Barry's Temple, its not on there... Maybe it was another old-ass kaiju site

Watching kaiju movies on Mad Theater and Horror Theater hosted by Dr. Shock on Channel 17 and not even knowing they were dubbed and edited-or even caring that that they were in the first place. And watching anime like Speed Racer without even knowing what anime even was-or how popular it would eventually become. Ahhhh, those were the days, my friend; we thought they'd never end, as the old song goes. To be that naive and innocent again...that would be wonderful!
