Re: The Godzilla Cringe Thread
Deadzilla along with others from back in the day, 2008-2014, put themselves on really high pedestals on account of their expensive figure collection and growing fanbase. Ultramancronos being at the top. Really rude guy. After the issue he got into with some little kid and his mom 3 years ago, he stopped making G-related videos. He was eventually going to leave since he was losing interest but that incident was the final nail in the coffin.Creature22 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 15, 2021 6:49 amThe whole Deadzilla thing was a surprise to me, but I never really understood why so many people loved him to begin with. His videos were subpar and he had a big ego that he flexed on lesser-known content creators. I dipped once he started making videos ragging on other YouTubers that he didn't feel were "quality" (I think it was GodzillaFilms? It was a pretty harmless channel from what I recall). The whole thing was pathetic.Gigantis wrote: ↑Tue May 25, 2021 1:07 pm Ever since i heard of Deadzilla being a creep i actually refuse watching his older videos, despite the fact they actually mean a lot to me since they kept my interest in Godzilla high during the drought phase. I don't need to remind myself that i use to be a supporter of that monster.
I'll still post on YouTube occasionally, but mostly do it for myself to share obscure content. A lot of the Godzilla-related stuff has reached a hard to watch level for me... some of those guys are cool and know when to "put it away", but a lot of them act out too much and make the casual fan look bad. You've also got to keep in mind that if you have a mostly-child audience... they're going to emulate whatever it is you put out there.
And dare I say NickJownz and Goji73 were on the same boat ego wise, only they kept their drama really low key.

I'll admit Goji73 also let some of his fame get to his head a bit, but at least he's still overall a nice person.
A guy who randomly stumbled upon this place one day, invested much too much time into it, and now appears to be stuck here for all eternity..and strangely enough, i do not regret it!

^check the comments in the video. Some people talk about it but its either vague or ambiguous.
There used to be a post that went into detail but I'm assuming Cronos deleted it long ago. I know it was there because I replied to that user with my own rant against Cronos which is also gone.
I don't know how Goji73 is now but yeah, he did back in the day. He along with the rest of the 4 heavenly kings (mostly him and Cronos) lambasted me over for using their name as youtube tags in both G-related and Non-related. Claiming I was stealing their copyright and keeping their videos from being seen, which was not true.

Pretty much, yeah. Deadzilla, UltramanCronos, NickJownz and Goji73 were the big channels. The Four Heavenly Kings thing in particular was super dumb and gatekeepy, especially from an outsider's perspective.KaijuNoBish wrote: ↑Mon Jun 28, 2021 8:23 am I don't know how Goji73 is now but yeah, he did back in the day. I never really had issues with the latter two users, but Deadzilla and UltramanCronos were bullies. It's fairly easy to tell when the comments you're getting come from kids and when they come from adults. In any case, patience or subtle sarcasm will generally suffice. These guys almost always overreacted and were vocally rude when it wasn't warranted. Not to mention their attitude towards users that they saw as competition (with Deadzilla in particular calling out lesser-known channels and discouraging his viewers from watching them). They were both buzzkills.

Re: The Godzilla Cringe Thread
The 4 of them were major cringe, and I'm surprised the fanbase attached as hard as they did. But as others have said, it's likely bc of their large collections (for the time).
Their personalities were like sandpaper. Getting mad at requests from fans, soapboxing themselves on pedestals, the pathetic "4 heavenly kings" thing. I'm glad they fell off.

Re: The Godzilla Cringe Thread
The Bandai Ultra Monster fad probably helped as well. Those were basically treated as an extension to the Movie Monster Series and were some of the only new items being pumped out at the time. Younger viewers in particular ate up any video that involved a crossover between Tsuburaya and Toho characters (which is why I remember lesser known channels like Godzillafilms doing so well and people like Deadzilla having tantrums over it).
Notice how many of those guys became irrelevant as soon as SH Monsterarts/NECA came out, followed by increase of people discovering green screen and Adobe After Effects. Deadzilla was the only one of that original group who was able to keep up, but his content was never that great. He simply had the support needed to survive the jump.

It's not just collections, it really was a draught. I wasn't on the internet like that but if I was I mighta ate those guys up just due to the lack of kaiju-related content. Thankfully I didn't and wasn't aware of what kind of viewcounts some of those dude's videos accrued. I'm sure the collections did play a big part in it though.

Re: The Godzilla Cringe Thread
I watched those four religiously when I was younger because, like Major spielberg said, they were some of the only consistent kaiju-related content that I could find online at the time. But yeah, looking back a few of them were not good people at all and the "fame" (if you can call it that) totally went to their heads.
Enough has been said about Deadzilla but I'll just echo that yeah, he had a huge ego and the videos he made berating smaller channels like godzillafilms or making obnoxious talks about how his videos have x views but y comments/likes just put me off. He mellowed out later on but then...well, you know. Enough said.
UltramanCronos, who actually used to be a member here funny enough, was always kind of an asshole. Even if I enjoyed his Ultraman videos, I could not get over his massive ego and abrasiveness towards younger viewers. Like Deadzilla, he made more than a few videos talking about how people weren't collecting right or whatever. I remember one was about the "proper" amount of figures you needed to have a "collection update video", it was so fucking stupid.
NickJownz and Goji73 were alright though. Nick was really knowledgeable about things and didn't really have much of that ego to him and it was honestly kind of sad to see him close his channel down. Goji I never watched as much (mostly because I didn't like the format of his figure reviews) but I can't really say he did anything that bad.
The one guy I really remember liking and missing was KaijuNoMura (also a member on here from way back) because he would always showcase rare and unusual toys and was super straight to the point. Too bad he took all his videos down.

Re: The Godzilla Cringe Thread
So we’re talking about Youtubers now?
I guess I put in my thoughts
Goji73 I personally find his channel to be great. He managed to talk a lot on Godzilla materials while also being respectful too.
As for the others I haven’t really watched much of them, UltramanCronos I watch a little bit but I sort of forgot about him
As for others Gojira5400 I just find obnoxious, his hate boner for Shin Godzilla is really annoying, and I just found out recently that he tried to do an ARG and failed?

Re: The Godzilla Cringe Thread
The only kaiju-tubers (heh) I never really fell out with were MIB and Wikizilla. All the others just faded for me. Except, on the note of Gojira5400, I did really enjoy his Shin vs G14 debate with Nerfman and DylloFello.
I really enjoy listening to Godzilla debates…

MIB is awesome, especially now. He's so knowledgeable and I've learned so much from his different informative videos. The main MIB series isn't really my thing anymore, but I remember really liking it when I was younger. He also seems like a pretty cool guy in general.

I find that really amusing because I am exactly the same way. As a kid I was huge on monster island buddied (and I still think the King Caesar Rap is straight BARS, fight me), but as I grew older I found myself getting MUCH more enjoyment out of his other videos. I learned quite a bit about mainly things that I dont personally collect. Opened my horizons.

Nick and G73 kept their egos low-key. Nick would bad mouth people. At the time, it was specifically some of the people he met at G-fest 2010 including myself. I only interacted with him twice that day.UltramanGoji wrote: ↑Tue Jun 29, 2021 6:44 pm NickJownz and Goji73 were alright though. And yes to KaijunoMura! Best of the bunch back in the day imo. Wonder what he's up to now.

Re: The Godzilla Cringe Thread
KaijiNoMura was (still is) an awesome guy but I think he was a little too “mature” for YouTube, if that makes sense. He shifted to other areas like forums and FB Groups, and is still prominent on there. But on a platform with mostly kids obsessing over Bandai, a lot of the knowledge for more niche merchandise goes unappreciated (especially if you give the info straight and don’t act like a clown on camera). He was too good for YouTube
I think MIB has the right idea in that the personality is his “schtick” but doesn’t reflect who he is as a person (hence the mask/hiding his face). He’s a really friendly guy off camera and has a genuine interest in sharing that niche and otherwise “forgotten” stuff, but found a way to do it in a way that appeals to the YouTube crowd. He pretty much has that corner of the fan base in his pocket, but doesn’t bully them or act like he’s superior. He does a much better job with it than I feel I ever could, to be honest.

Re: The Godzilla Cringe Thread
Anyone’s thoughts on Omni Viewer?
I personally used to watch him, until just forgot about him, I think he is sort of good but sometimes he does miss the point, like at one point while he’s talking about Shin Godzilla he said “ if they we’re trying to make a disaster movie then go make a disaster movie without Godzilla” or something like that. I don’t agree with this logic because by that standard wouldn’t that apply to Gojira 1954 as well?

I need to check him out. Haven't watched or been involved with anything Godzilla related on YT for almost 8 years but slowly getting back into it. Only user I've kept up to date with is Alzilla09 but that's cuz we've been friends for almost 10 years. Ironically I met him first on Youtube and later realized we went to the same high school. Go figure.Creature22 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 30, 2021 6:49 am I think MIB has the right idea in that the personality is his “schtick” but doesn’t reflect who he is as a person (hence the mask/hiding his face).
