I've been recording TCM's movies as they aired and thye do a short intro to each film with a bit of history but they also mention the Criterion set often, I'm thinking they picked Godzilla for the October Monster Fridays to coincide with the release.

It's always pleasant to flip through the channels and find a Godzilla movie playing on Turner Classic Movies.

It's funny to think how the Japanese version unavailable in America for so many years, and now it feels like it's the one most commonly on television. TCM seems to run it pretty frequently!

Unfortunately missed most of it - a shame, I had wanted to watch Astro Monster and War of the Gargantuas, trying to watch DAM but dealing with quite a few distractions

Don't worry Comet will be running the films over and over this month. With June 13th being another marathon.

That will be the last marathon for awhile, probably till September. The Heisei and Millennium films have pretty much faded off the TV movie channels. I think they only play on the SONY Movie channel which I don't get. So other then a film playing on TCM there might not be much Toho on TV this summer.

I hope I am wrong.

Kurosawa's comeback pic, Kagemusha, will be on FXM/FXM Retro on July 22. Their online schedule sucks (take a look for yourselves) but these are the times it will be playing, according to their site:

July 22
12:14 am
3:14 am
5 am
8 am

Just a side note but it looks like Comet TV will no longer be a movie channel. So chance of catching a Toho film outside of a Godzilla Marathon is very slim to none. Even more Godzilla Marathons are in doubt.

Just take a look at their 2 week schedule and "This Month on Comet TV". They run infomercials all morning till Noon. There is currently only 10 hour movie block on Saturday from 4pm till 3AM which is five 2 hour movie. Starting Aug 22 it is cut down 6 hour block from 8PM to 2AM or three 2 hour movies. Sunday is typically a marathon of one of the 8 TV shows they run. The movies are no longer from the MGM library, they now seem to be SyFy channel "original" movies from the 2000.

They have gone from a sci-fi and horror movie channel to a TV rerun channel for the most part.

Not saying they will never marathon Godzilla again, but if they do it will be the same Criterion selection they have been showing. They haven't run a Sony Heisei or Millennium film in 2020. But I highly doubt they will be running Mothra, Gorath, Battle in Outer Space, or any other Japanese film with the newer TV show focused schedule.

Looks like Comet might have just been taking August a little light. They only have 2 days of September showing, but they've got Gojira (midnight ET 9/2 technically), Mothra VS. Godzilla at 2am, Ghidorah: tTHM at 10am and Rodan at noon.
