TBH, I can see it. I prefer Ultima but Earth has more character admittedly compared to ol Dusty.
Ultima wasn't a bad Godzilla, it's just young Godzilla Earth went around kicking ass and taking names and had a larger cast to deal with.

I'm still not 100% clear what Ultima's end goal was.

Ultima is the Singular Point Godzilla, right?

if so, I absolutely 100% agree with this.

Also, to take it a few steps further:

Godzilla 1967 > Ultima

GINO > Ultima

I really like both, though I feel Earth looks better from every angle. Also his color palette was always cool to me. I love the metallic blues. I got the SHMA figure (the one that comes with a tiny Filius) of him a few years ago. The paint job is GORGEOUS.

Shinagawa-Kun sucks.

It's not even in the same room as the Heisei designs.

We need more 70s inspired Godzilla designs. Maybe for an anime...?
Please Toho I want my Showa continuity anime.

The third form of Shin Godzilla. When it develops a bipedal stance.

Why it seems to offend people here, I am less sure of.

I was neutral on Ultima until I saw his SHMA figure. I dunno, somehow in high-end toy form he looks really impressive. Those wonky proportions just translate into making him look massive and powerful. Shin's oversized tail looks (appropriately) like a deformity, but Ultima's just works. It's outlandish in a good way. Same with that insane jaw gape. It's a good look for a villainous, interdimensional take on Godzilla.

He left no impression on me in the show, though. I was too busy paying attention to Jet Jaguar and trying to follow whatever the hell was going on to really give much focus to Godzilla. Might have to rewatch the last episode again at some point.

Ultima is a creature from another dimension that wants to exist in ours as the strongest thing in it. Even if he doesn't fit or other creatures try to stop him, he's going to use his extreme power from being a Singular Point to basically force himself in. He's gonna keep forcing himself in to the point our reality collapses because he's putting too much stress on it, which our heroes are trying to prevent.

Yeah, personally Shinagawa-kun is easily one of my favorite Godzilla designs of recent years.
Tokyo, a smoldering memorial to the unknown, an unknown which at this very moment still prevails and could at any time lash out with its terrible destruction anywhere else in the world.

Oh, that thing?

Ultima > Shinagawa-Kun then. About the only thing Ultima beats too. Assuming that abomination even counts as a Godzilla design, it's the worst one ever put to screen by a long shot. :P

That’s what I thought just now. In fact, reading that I actually felt something. That is the first time I’ve read the reasoning behind Godzilla’s actions and actually physically cringed. Maybe not watching Singular Point was a good thing. Too much science mumbo-jumbo and bad kaiju designs.

Okay, let’s shake it up a bit. MegaroGoji (especially ‘74 and ‘75) rival the best of the Heisei era.

Hey c’mon now, I said ‘74 too! I just like 75 because he looks so pissed yet capable of being a loving figure. He’s like the warrior Jesus of Godzillas.
