I mean, he wasn't technically Gabara, but Salunga is pretty much spot-on for a badass reimagining of Gabara.

A giant green rhino with long, shaggy hair on its back a la highland cattle or sumatran rhinos, and with very thick and armour-like skin with textures very similar to the Dürer's Rhinoceros woodcut. Her nasal horn is massive, and behind it are three other (relatively small) horns. All of them can easily conduct electricity. In particular, the shaggy hair actually gathers and builds up static electricity from the surrounding air, which is discharged through the horn. Emerging out of the jungles of Africa, she has a calf whom she's very protective of.

Meanwhile, The Crackler from Godzilla: The Series is basically an unofficial incarnation of Gabara.

A spirit that haunts the staff of Monsterland, angry they are turning its island into a kaiju containment facility.

Torisawa’s Godzilla art is astounding and it’s a real shame he hasn’t had his designs realized yet.

It sounds like the set up for a Gorgo type of film.

I'd reimagine Gabara as the product of an experiment in harnessing cellular energy. The result is a living force of energy that feeds on any source of energy it can find. This creature is capable of manifesting a physical form when it has accumulated enough power, traveling through wires and computer systems, and learning by collecting data from said computer systems. This learning curve makes Gabara a formidable and strategic fighter, forcing enemies into situations that give Gabara an advantage. It's only Achilles heel is that the energy used to attack foes must be replaced or Gabara will become weakened.
I've got a good mind to join a club and beat you over the head with it.

Then expect something that's fiercer, more cruel, and deadly than anything that's walked the Earth.

Never thought of it that way. Doesn't exactly strike one as being Gabara, but that's the point. Anything's an improvement over the current ogre.

To clarify, this was inspired by how trippy his powers were in his TV guest appearances.
A kaiju that wants to leave survivors to tell what they witnessed seems a very scary concept.

Absolutely nothing different. I would recreate him to be exactly identical as he was in the underrated masterpiece that is All Monsters Attack.

While i oppose toho trying to retcon the godzilla series Gabara as having poison warts whem Minya biting him without harm is an important scene that is called back later in the fight with rhe kidnappers, i do think it would be a good addition and allow him to be annoying pest for all of monster island without much fear of reprisal from many tooth and claw fighters. It would takes judo or ranged capabilities or clever tricks to take him on without activating the poison.

I always thought that if they brought Gabara back he should like the Kaiju version of Freddy Krueger. A supernatural Oni-like monster that enters people's and monster's dreams and feeds off their fear and nightmares to grow in size and strength, until his power grows to the point where he can manifest in the physical realm to cause destruction
(Plus it would be interesting to see what monsters dream or have nightmares about, maybe Gabara could torture Godzilla by making him relive the H-Bomb tests that mutated him in his dreams?)

I think he should be a dream-dwelling Oni who feeds on the self-doubt of his victims. The more miserable people feel, the stronger he becomes.
