Revenge of SpaceGodzilla

Japanese Title

スペースゴジラの復讐
[Supesugojira no Fukushu]

Godzilla defeated SpaceGodzilla. However, during their decisive battle, Godzilla absorbed too much of SpaceGodzilla's crystal cells into his body. Godzilla begins to suffer from a cellular chain reaction as abnormalities physically form and make him go berserk. A new SpaceGodzilla has been born. Completely out of control, the SpaceGodzilla-ified Godzilla begins his conquest of the world, bringing it on the verge of destruction as his crystals infest the planet.

LittleGodzilla disappeared during the chaos. Just as all hope seems lost, Little reappears, now grown into a new 50-meter-tall adult Godzilla. He challenges his transformed parent into a battle for the fate of the world.

LOST PROJECT HISTORY

One of many movie proposals by assistant director Yosuke Nakano (referred to hereafter by his professional name, Yo★Nakano), Revenge of SpaceGodzilla - referred to in full as Revenge of SpaceGodzilla (Grown Up Little vs. SG-ified Godzilla) - immediately picks up where 1994's Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla left off, in a kind of "bad ending" scenario. As the theme of "Godzilla 7" had yet to be decided, Yo★Nakano drafted many ideas and frequently updated these proposals based on where the direction of the next Heisei VS Series installment would lead. Despite the existence of Revenge of SpaceGodzilla, Yo★Nakano would ultimately choose Terror of SpaceGodzilla as one of his three movie proposals to submit to Toho for review.

Background and Trivia

  • The image of the monster presented in the banner is an interpretation created by Dao Zang Moua for Toho Kingdom. A render can also be found in the image gallery below.
  • Plot details can be found in Godzilla & Toho Tokusatsu Official Mook vol.15: Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II (ISBN 9784065314968), to include the name of "SpaceGodzilla-ified Godzilla" (SG化ゴジラ - SG-ka Gojira) and the illustration found in the image gallery below. Note the art used was created specifically for use in the mook by Yo★Nakano.
  • Godzilla having his body overpowered by SpaceGodzilla is based on documented information found in an "official data file" released on October 28th, 1994 by Toho Eizo Bijutsu (credited as TOHO E.B). In summary, because SpaceGodzilla's cells are more powerful than Godzilla's own, if Godzilla were to absorb too much of SpaceGodzilla's cosmic energy, his cells would be overwritten completely and he would transform into a new SpaceGodzilla. The transcribed data file can be found in the pages of Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla Completion (ISBN 4798624632).
