History

Originally created for an unspecified role in Godzilla vs. Godzilla (Story Plan A), not much is known about this mysterious monster other than it being a "subspecies" of Anguirus. After its intended movie was scrapped, it would eventually reappear in a draft for Godzilla vs. Barubaroi, this time falling prey to the shapeshifting Barubaroi, who would mimic the four-legged beast's appearance. However, as development continued, both Barubaroi and the Anguirus Hound would be dropped from future revisions. While Anguirus would be fortunate enough to be considered for future Godzilla movies, Anguirus Hound would remain on the cutting room floor.

Trivia
  • Is mentioned in Heisei Godzilla Chronicle (ISBN: 4873763193) and Heisei Godzilla Perfection (ISBN: 4048861190), though it is never extensively covered in either book.
  • The wing-like structure of its spiked shell is highly reminiscent to early promotional material featuring Anguirus from Godzilla Raids Again (1955), whom originally had a shell that could split and rise like wings before this was omitted from its final design.
  • Appears in the book Godzilla vs. Destoroyah Perfection (ISBN: 4798615811), where its Japanese name is mentioned.
