Description

With a severely poisoned Godzilla making landfall in Canada, neither an air strike from the United States Air Force nor an attempt by G-Force to peacefully subdue the beast with a Sub-Sonic Pulse Beacon managed to stop the monster's progress inland. With Godzilla estimated to arrive in Vancouver in less than twenty four hours, the word was given by the United States military to activate Cybersaur. A joint creation by G-Force and the United Nations, Cybersaur was housed within a secret base in a remote area of North Dakota. Upon receiving the order, the operating crew informed the military that the machine needed at least another two months of fine tuning before being capable of handling combat, and if sent out immediately, would only be functioning on back-up power. Despite these warnings, the order was given to send Cybersaur into action.

CybersaurQuickly arriving in Canada, the golden mech landed in front of the poisoned Godzilla and began its assault, opening fire with nearly every weapon in its arsenal. Though the attack staggered Godzilla at first, the King of the Monsters was not completely helpless, returning fire with his atomic ray. Cybersaur's shields held admirably against the blast, but when the machine's weapons started to lower in power, its Captain made the decision to divert energy from the shields to the weapons in order to continue their attack. Unfortunately, this decision proved disastrous, as the weakened shields allowed a single swipe from Godzilla's tail to cause an internal power surge, resulting in an exploding control console killing the Captain. To make matters worse, another atomic blast from Godzilla knocked Cybersaur off its feet. With Godzilla kicking the mech in the head as he walked past, the mighty reptile left his opponent for dead as he continued on towards Vancouver. With members of G-Force arriving to help repair the damage done to Cybersaur's computers, a new battery was delivered as well, giving the war machine a new lease on life.

Just as another attempt by the military to halt Godzilla's advance at Harrison Lake failed, Cybersaur landed, once again ready to engage the King of the Monsters in battle. This time, the assault was fast and merciless as Cybersaur hit Godzilla with every weapon it had available, with even a blast of the monster's atomic ray doing nothing to deter it. With Godzilla taking a moment to recuperate and charge another blast, the machine's crew armed Cybersaur's ultimate weapon: The G-Buster. The deadly weapon fired a devastating blast of energy, firing down Godzilla's throat and seemingly slaying the monster in a single shot.

At last, Cybersaur had emerged victorious, but its work was not yet done. From the depths of space emerged a new threat, an enormous bat-like creature that had come to be known as Bagorah. Cybersaur soon encountered Bagorah as the space monster made a beeline for the comatose Godzilla. Watching as Bagorah circled the golden mech and assessed the situation, the machine's crew decided to fire a warning shot, blasting the massive bat with Cybersaur's shoulder cannons. The creature seemed to panic from the minor attack, causing him to fly off and dive into the ocean.

With Bagorah handled for the time being, G-Force decided to install their Sub-Sonic Pulse Beacon into Cybersaur to be used as a weapon, with the hopes of disrupting the creature's sonar the next time he appeared. They didn't have to wait for long. At first the Sonic Disrupter seemed to be successful, disorienting the giant bat and sending him crashing into a populated area. Unfortunately, Bagorah quickly recovered and flew towards the mech with startling speed, slamming his skull into Cybersaur's chest, toppling the mighty machine. The impact was enough to take Cybersaur out of the fight, causing severe internal damage and rupturing the mech's fuel tanks.

As Vancouver was caught between the combined might of Bagorah and a resurrected Godzilla, the damaged Cybersaur hit critical mass and erupted into ball of fire, never to see combat again.

Resurrection

Flight

Cybersaur had rocket boosters located in its hips which granted the machine the ability of flight.

It was not the most agile of fliers but it was speedy, making the journey from its base in North Dakota to the wilderness around Harrison Lake (a distance of roughly over a thousand miles) fairly quickly.

Laser Guns

Laser Guns

Two identical laser-firing guns sat on top of Cybersaur's shoulder missile compartments. These weapons were capable of firing in either short bursts or extended energy beams.

A single blast from these guns alone was enough to send Bagorah fleeing from a fight and spend until the next night recuperating.

Laser Cannons

Laser Cannons

Cybersaur came equipped with a number of laser cannons, some hidden, some in plain sight. Two cannons were kept within its large shoulder compartments, above the missiles that filled the rest of the shoulders. Two more could extend from hidden compartments in the machine's wrists, and yet another was housed within the mech's mouth.

Missiles

Missiles

One of Cybersaur's most notable physical characteristics were the two large compartments on each of its shoulders, easily as tall as the machine's neck and head. At any given time, four missiles could be seen actively loaded and ready to fire inside each compartment, but there seemed to be many more than that hidden within, as the machine never seemed to run out. In addition, the shoulders were not the mech's only source of missiles, as two similar compartments stuck out from its back, each displaying three missiles of their own (also with many more undoubtedly contained within).

G-Buster

G-Buster

Cybersaur's ultimate weapon, the G-Buster was a giant cannon that remained hidden within the mech until needed, at which point it would extend forth from the machine's body. Once armed, the crew would initiate a countdown from 10 to 1 before the weapon would fire an enormous beam of energy.

The G-Buster was an incredibly powerful weapon, able to render Godzilla (albeit in a weakened condition) comatose with a single shot.

Sonic Disrupter

Sonic Disrupter

After Cybersaur's initial brief encounter with Bagorah, Dr. Kagaku of G-Force noted the creature's sonic abilities and retrofitted his team's Sub-Sonic Pulse Beacon into a weaponized Sonic Disrupter to use against the creature in hopes of interfering with his sonar.

Though the device seemed successful at first, its effect was only temporary, and Bagorah quickly recovered and came back to finish his opponent.

Background and Trivia
  • Created by Kevin Maguire.
  • When observing Cybersaur's first battle with Godzilla in Godzilla King of the Monsters #2, G-Force member Kino commented "What's that pilot thinking? He should be using Cybersaur's Plasma Bombs!" Unfortunately, aside from the G-Buster, a name is never attributed to any of the weapons in the machine's arsenal, thus it is impossible to tell if "Plasma Bombs" is the name for the missiles in Cybersaur's shoulders, the missiles on its back, or a different weapon entirely that went unused.
