Description

The final battle between Godzilla, the poisoned King of the Monsters, and Cybersaur, humanity's mechanical defender, ended in the mighty reptile's unequivocal defeat. Having been apparently slain by the golden machine's G-Buster cannon, Godzilla let loose with a harrowing death cry that was so intense it not only pierced the heavens, but traveled into the dark void of space itself. It was here that the sound was picked up by the acutely sensitive ears of an enormous crimson predator known to some in the galaxy as Korghan. Deciding that whatever creature had made that sound would make for an excellent meal, the beast headed directly for its point of origin: Earth.

Soon, the monster had grown close enough that he was visible by the planet's observatories. Within one such observatory, not too far from the site where Godzilla and Cybersaur had done battle, two scientists were able to spot the advancing predator within their telescope. Understandably alarmed, the two men - Dr. Battuma and Dr. Gorhanski - quickly alerted the Air Force in order to deal with the incoming threat. By the time Korghan arrived on Earth and entered Canada's air space, the Air Force had begun to refer to him as "Bagorah," a portmanteau of the names of the men who had first discovered the beast. The first line of resistance to meet with Bagorah was a trio of fighter jets, but the bat-like monster merely flew through them, not even slowing down as the jets exploded against his blood red flesh. By the time Bagorah had reached the location of Godzilla's comatose body, Cybersaur had been activated to greet the interplanetary visitor, ready to put up a fight if needed. Taking notice of Cybersaur, Bagorah began to slowly fly in circles around the machine, assessing it as well as his new environment. Finally deciding to move in close, Bagorah was met with a brief blast from Cybersaur's shoulder-mounted laser guns. Instead of putting up a fight as Cybersaur's previous opponent had done, Bagorah was instead completely taken aback by the sudden attack. Screaming wildly, Bagorah turn and fled, quickly leaving the area behind and diving into the sea in order to recuperate.

BagorahWith the monster gone for the moment, Dr. Kagaku of G-Force had noted that Bagorah's abilities seemed sonic in nature, and thus was currently having his Sub-Sonic Pulse Beacon retrofitted into a weaponized Sonic Disrupter for Cybersaur to use whenever the oversized bat made his return appearance. The wait was not a long one. Not even forty eight hours had passed before Bagorah emerged from the sea and made a beeline for Cybersaur's location. Using his sonic screams to wipe out a line of military defense, Bagorah headed directly for Cybersaur, only for the golden machine to open fire with its new Sonic Disrupter. Bagorah was hit point blank by the weapon's sound waves and it indeed seemed effective, disorienting and dizzying the extraterrestrial creature. Unfortunately, this only caused the beast to plummet and crash into a populated area, crushing countless buildings underneath him. Recovering almost instantly, Bagorah zoomed towards Cybersaur. Despite the mech opening fire with its entire arsenal, Bagorah reached it immediately and slammed his head into the machine's torso, knocking it flat. The predator descended upon his prey, only to be disappointed when he found it made of inedible metal. That was when Bagorah noticed the prone form of Godzilla nearby.

Making his way over to Godzilla's body, Bagorah landed on top of it, ready to investigate and, with any luck, begin to feed. Unfortunately for the hungry beast, Godzilla had just been given the antidote for the deadly toxin that was keeping him comatose. At that exact moment, Godzilla awoke and grabbed Bagorah by the throat, going on the attack. Bagorah assaulted Godzilla with his sonic abilities, but when the King of the Monsters tried to return fire with his atomic ray, he found himself unable, his internal nuclear systems still not yet fully recovered from the poison that had been flowing through him. Just then, the Air Force engaged Bagorah once again, attempting to lure the crimson monster out towards the Pacific Ocean. Unfortunately, it didn't take long for the bat to dispose of these as well. Overwhelmed with hunger, the monster turned back and ended up landing in Vancouver as he began to search for food.

Finally catching up with his foe, Godzilla arrived in the Canadian city. Spotting the reptile as he flew by, Bagorah swooped in to attack, ambushing Godzilla from behind and sinking his teeth into the King of the Monster's neck. Fighting back, Godzilla tried to once again unleash his atomic breath, and though he was able to gather more power this time, he was still unable to fire a concentrated blast. Improvising, he shoved a bus into the ravenous creature's mouth. Furious, Bagorah began to assault Godzilla with his sonic screams once again. For a third time, Godzilla's dorsal plates began to glow, and having seen nothing come of it in the previous two instances, Bagorah ignored the display this time. Unfortunately, this proved to be a mistake, as Godzilla was at last at full power once again. Godzilla unleashed a powerful atomic ray that sent Bagorah careening backwards into the Alex Fraser Bridge. Before the alien predator could recover, Godzilla nailed him with another nuclear blast. His body wracked with pain and smoking, Bagorah veered off towards the open sea before crashing into the waves and sinking to the ocean's depths.

Quite some time later, Bagorah was detected to still be alive on the ocean floor. Not by mankind, but by aliens from among the stars. The Dianii, a proud race of enormous game hunters, had tracked the predator - whom they knew by his original name of Korghan - to Earth. Whether Bagorah was suffering a slow death or was in the process of making a full recovery is unknown, but as they proceeded to locate their target, the Dianii came across another animal even more worthy of the hunt: Godzilla.

Powers / Weapons
Flight

Flight

As a bat, or at least an incredibly similar life form, Bagorah possessed two enormous wings. This allowed the space creature to fly both within the atmosphere and in outer space.

His top speed is unknown, but he was able to travel from some point outside our Solar System to the Earth in roughly twenty four hours.

Sonic Waves

Sonic Waves

Bagorah's main form of attack, he would unleash a high pitched screech that would radiate out in the form of highly destructive sound waves.

These waves were capable of shattering glass and even reducing entire buildings to rubble.

Sonic Beams

Sonic Beams

Bagorah was able to focus his sonic waves into a more direct, beam-like attack. These were capable of striking specific targets instead of hitting them as collateral damage.

Hitting harder than his sonic waves, the beams could inflict damage to even metallic opponents such as Cybersaur.

Auditory Sensitivity

Auditory Sensitivity

Bagorah possessed two large ears on his head which, like those of his smaller, Earthborn counterparts, granted the space monster hypersensitive hearing, which he used to track and locate his prey.

Bagorah's ears were absolutely unparalleled in both range and accuracy, able to hear Godzilla's death scream on Earth from beyond our Solar System and zero in on its exact point of origin.

Weaknesses
Sonic Disruption

Sonic Disruption

Bagorah's auditory sensitivity allowed the beast to hunt using sonar. However, if blasted with a strong enough opposing sound wave Bagorah would become disoriented and dizzy to the point of momentarily losing motor function.

Despite this, Bagorah was able to recover relatively quickly from an attack by Cybersaur's Sonic Disrupter, but one can reasonably assume the more powerful the sound wave, the more severe the effect would be on the space monster.

Background and Trivia
  • Created by Kevin Maguire.
  • In Godzilla King of the Monsters #12, after the villainous Professor Mason has used his time travel technology to bring Godzilla to the futuristic city of Harmony Cluster Nine for his own evil purposes, he ponders doing the same to other cities of the future by using other "historic monsters" to accomplish similar results. One of the monsters he imagines running amok throughout time for his scheme is Bagorah.
