| A pretty
decent compilation for those interested in avoiding the
high expenditures associated with importing the full soundtracks.
Focusing on all of the Godzilla films up to 1998, this
disc covers a lot of ground, and it's not surprising to
see that the movies get about 1-3 tracks a piece. This
release does gloss over a number of films too, such as
the absence of the 1970's Godzilla movies. The tracks
are primarily ordered here chronologically, with the exception
of Godzilla
vs. SpaceGodzilla (1994) for some reason. There
are quite a few sound effects, marked "SE" on
their title, present as well, which could be a turn off
for some. Unfortunately this disc is long out of print
now, so more casual collectors should likely seek out
one of the other compilations for a quick fix of the music
from the series. However, more serious collectors should
probably take note of this release for one reason: the
last track. The 29th cue on this release is dedicated
to the "Opening Title" sequence from the, then
current, GODZILLA
(1998). Surprisingly, it's not the original David Arnold
composition from the film itself, though, but is instead
a rearrangement of the music done by another composer.
Who I'm afraid I'm not sure, although it's certainly not
the theme that appears in the movie and I have not seen
it featured elsewhere, which is why collectors might take
interest.
