The collabs around Godzilla vs. Kong continue, well over a year after the movie’s release. Today, Activision announced an upcoming event for the games Call of Duty Warzone and Call of Duty: Vanguard. Coming May 11th 2022, the start of Vanguard‘s third season, the event will see both Godzilla and Kong from the MonsterVerse invade the world of Call of Duty.

To celebrate the upcoming event, which is called Operation Monarch after the organization from the MonsterVerse, Activision has released a cinematic trailer. The advert shows off some impressive CGI of both Godzilla and Kong that does well to match their onscreen looks.

While Operation Monarch is a bit of a surprise, especially as there is no near term film coming in the MonsterVerse franchise, the event itself had been teased prior. Below is an example of one of the semi-vague promos done leading up to the official announcement around the event:

While details about the event are scarce, they will likely trickle in as we get closer to the May 11th date when it kicks off.

About Call of Duty Warzone

Call of Duty is an expansive franchise that started back in 2003. There are almost 20 entries in the main series and numerous spin offs. Of those spin offs is Call of Duty Warzone, which came out on March 10th, 2022. The title is a free-to-play battle royale video game that released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows. Versions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S have been announced for later this year, along with a currently undated mobile version for iOS and Android. In addition, the title is connected to the following Call of Duty entries:

  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops: Cold War
  • Call of Duty: Vanguard

Warzone’s primary mode allows 150 players to engage in combat in an online multiplayer mode. Certain event specific modes, though, have at times upped that to 200 players. The title has seen a number of crossovers, from those related to Attack on Titan, to Die Hard, to the Rambo series, to Texas Chainsaw Massacre, to Saw and more.
