[Continued from Match 100]

Even in his death, Godzilla had proven why he was King.

A torrent of light engulfed all in its path. Devastation ran amok; Monster Island was wiped from the face of the Earth, with the Pacific Ocean boiling away into nothing. A burning ball of plasma quickly outgrew its original parameters, carving a path of destruction in its wake. Those that fought on the surface of this doomed planet were left with no choice but to accept the horrors that came their way. Terrestrial beings without flight were left to burn as their flesh and bones were completely eviscerated. Even gods fell before its tremendous might.

Then there were those foolish enough, those that believed in their own speed to retreat to the stars. Their last moments were fleeting, the fastest fliers around, yet it did nothing more than delay the inevitability of it all. One by one, piece by piece, they were consumed by the every expanding bloom of mass destruction. The hopes for a better world, the dreams and wishes of primal beasts and sapient heroes gone in a flash.

But it refused to stop there.

Burning light burrowed into the Earth, gnawing away at the surface crust until it broke into the mantle. What started as a mere speck against the mass of the planet began to eat it alive. The rippling shockwaves tore the surface asunder, disheveling the continental plates that kept the surface world together. But rather than exploding, it continued to devour all in its path. Cities crumbled, skyscrapers unable to withstand the unfolding calamity. Survivors of all species and races banded in horror, the arrogant and rich killing for the sake of being the last one standing. The mere attempt of evacuation had never been issued; the doomed results spoke for themselves.

And so it ate without resignation or remorse, continually expanding its reach until all of the Earth had fallen to its whim.

It was never enough.

Funneled with the power of Catastrophe, it ballooned beyond proportion. Using the former planet as a fuel source, the ever-expanding light stretched beyond reason, without remorse as it began to cannibalize nearby planets and the system’s own star. All became part of the everlasting light, engulfed into its infinitely increasing mass. Its reach touched the threshold of the Kuiper Belt, and even then it didn’t stop.

Nothing ever could.

In the depths of space, the catastrophic burst shined like a star in the sky; but the space-faring beasts that traversed the cosmic plains found themselves in awe of the rupturing power before them. A dark inevitability as the endless expanse of space itself was rewritten with a blistering light. Its silent approach only brought about absolute destruction.

For the powerful wings of the mighty Bagorah, they were shredded and sublimed in a heartbeat. The once dreaded crimson leather eviscerated before its atoms were engulfed by the hellish blaze.

The infinite mass of the awe-inspiring Dogora distorted from the all-encompassing fury. Its liquid body sizzled away into nothingness, not leaving a trace of the space monster remaining.

And the raw might and fury of the bestial Tyrant swam amidst the vacant emptiness, eventually swallowed whole by the explosive wrath. Not a thought left after his demise.

Ever-expanding, it went. Be it a year, a millennia, or an eon, all fell to the destructive might of the catastrophe. Every space monster, every planet, every living organism consumed by the ever-wrathful light.

And all that remained was a scorched universe, a burning aftermath of a battle so long ago…
