Question: How did the Godzilla vs. Kong vs. Justice League comic happen?
Robert Napton:
As Jim Lee has mentioned, we have been friends for 30 years, but never worked together on a project. Legendary and D.C. were, until recently, in the same office building so I would see him, as neighbors often do. Ben Abernathy and I became friends and would meet from time to time and talk shop about comics. One day Ben said “what if…” and this idea was born. I was on board immediately, so it became my task to get everyone on board with me – meaning the powers that be at Legendary and Toho International and Japan, and as I have said before, it came together very effortlessly – everyone saw the potential fun in mashing up these icons and wanted to do this. So it’s been one of those special projects from the start that took effort to get done, but has also been a smooth road. The creative fun then began and we found the perfect team to make this a great comic series.
