Godzilla has just entered the world of Evony.
Today, on February 17th, an event has kicked off for the mobile title Evony: The King’s Return. This sees the addition of Burning Godzilla, from Godzilla vs. Destoroyah (1995), added to the title as a “divine beast”. Decorations will also be rolled out in the form of Godzilla’s Castle, which comes in Jade and Flame versions. In addition, appearing as bosses, both King Ghidorah and Biollante are featured in the event.
To celebrate, Top Games is running a retweet contest from their Japanese Twitter handle. Prizes include a iPhone 14 and a Nintendo Switch, the latter being a slightly odd choice given the title isn’t presently available on that system. The contest itself features unique artwork showing Burning Godzilla and King Ghidorah facing off against each other, seen below.
As with past collaborations on the title, this is a limited event. Meaning the Toho related items and characters, unless unlocked, will go away after it concludes. Naturally, the bosses will also go away at the closure of the event. A date for the collaboration ending hasn’t been announced yet. In fact, this is noted as the “first round” which likely means additional characters from the Godzilla franchise will hit Evony at a future date.
More details on the event can be read from the Top Games page for it, although be aware they have a typo throughout that misspells King Ghidorah as “King Ghidogah”.
For those keeping track, Godzilla collaboration events have become somewhat common place. In fact, in the past two years, there are a number of examples. This includes from Toho themselves, for Gigabash and Puzzles & Survival for Godzilla’s 67th anniversary. Legendary has also been instrumental here, having Godzilla and Kong appear in World of Warships and also the Operation Monarch event for Call of Duty Warzone.
Prior Collab ~ Kong: Skull Island
Speaking of Legendary, this isn’t the first time giant monsters from the big screen have entered the world of Evony. In fact, there was an “Evony x Kong Skull Island” collab in 2022.
Launched on November 4th of that year, the collaboration featured Kong, Skullcrawlers, Mother Longlegs, Sker Buffalo and the Mire Squid. Some of the monsters were in game bosses, like the Mire Squid, while others were more decorative, like the Sker Buffalo which is a decoration that shows it pulling the “grey fox” boat from the movie. James Conrad and Mason Weaver also appeared during the event, although bore no likeness to the actors that played them in Kong: Skull Island (2017).
About Evony: The King’s Return
Released in 2016 by Top Games Inc, Evony: The King’s Return is a video game available for Android, iOS devices and PCs. It’s a strategy title that sees players build up an empire and command troops. It’s probably famous, or infamous, for the adverts that show players trying to complete puzzles, which are actually unlocked rewards rather than the main component of the game.
The title is a sequel to the 2009 browser based game Evony.
