This year, a small bake shop named Honey and Butter Macarons in Irvine, California celebrated Godzilla Day (starting October 29th and ending on November 5th) with Godzilla franchise themed macarons, each of them hand made in the bakery with multiple designs and flavors. In addition, t-shirts, pins, stickers, and a tote bag were on hand for purchase, and even the Godzilla statue from last year’s Godzilla 67th birthday party in LA was there in the store. I gotta say, it was one cool event. The macarons were not only delicious but expertly created. Below are my photos and quick notes (some were hard to pin down flavor wise and while it may not match up with the flavor key, I did my best to write down what each tasted like to me), and from each of the macarons that I tried. In addition, site contributor Arlo Hansen offers his experience.

The event itself was a massive hit and I hope it happens next year!
Thank you to everyone at Honey and Butter Macarons for their generous hospitality!
For reference, here’s the flavor key given to me by the owner of the bakery:
“Here are what the flavors were:
Godzilla head – S’moreo (Oreo S’mores)
Godzilla full body – Oreo
Mothra – Milk & Honey
King Ghidorah – Melon Cream
Mothra full body – Fruity Pebbles
I did not create a Flavor Guide for Godzilla since the designs were whimsically chosen from a pool of preapproved designs.”
Godzilla with tail – Shortcake flavor. Very tasty!
Godzilla with macaron – Very rich, chocolate flavor. Tastes awesome.
King Ghidorah – Fruitish sort of flavor. Banana (even though it’s listed as melon cream, it tasted like banana to me. Flavored). Very creamy and very good!
Mothra – Milky/creamy flavored filling. Macaron maintains the cookie crispness and the filing didn’t go stale a day and a half after I got them!
Also included below are bonus images of some of the Godzilla-themed items that could be purchased in the store, as well as a look at the store itself, to include the Godzilla statue.

A couple of the macaron designs offered on Saturday, November 5th featured Godzilla and Mothra embracing their own respective macarons.
Biting into the Godzilla macaron gave me an overwhelming sweet, rich and buttery, chocolatey taste. The macaron is rightfully crispy while the central filling seems to be fudge. It was delicious through and through!
Mothra’s macaron was a bit more vibrant than Godzilla’s. The filling was more of a marshmallow cream, sprinkled with fruity pebbles cereal for added color and crunch. It had a sweet creamy taste and the pebbles added an extra berry-like taste that differentiated it from the Godzilla macarons.
