November 3rd has arrived once again, in what is quickly becoming an annual tradition to celebrate the birthdate of Godzilla. Similar to last year, a host of news, merchandise, and other media has been released to commemorate the occasion. Some of the more noteworthy news can be found below! Godzilla Minus One Official Trailer 2

The Takashi Yamazaki-directed movie will be in the beginning phases of its theatrical run in Japan. To coincide, Toho has released a new trailer to promote the movie. Godzilla Minus One (2023) is also expected to be appearing in US theaters on December 1st, 2023, with movie tickets now available to be purchased online.

 

Godzilla vs. Megalon (2023)

A sequel to last year’s Godzilla vs. Gigan Rex CG short movie, Godzilla goes toe to toe with the underground monster, Megalon.

 

Fest Godzilla 4: Operation Jet Jaguar

The next installment of the “Fest Godzilla” series of short live-action movies has Godzilla doing battle with Jet Jaguar. While the suit used for Godzilla continues to be the one from Godzilla: Final Wars (2004), the one for Jet Jaguar is a faithful reproduction of his design from Godzilla vs. Megalon (1973). Note the video will only be available until November 11th, 2023.

The 1973 incarnation of Jet Jaguar has been announced, and will be featured at a Tamashii Nations exhibition from November 17th to November 19th later this month. Details are scarce, but it is expected to come with extra pieces that allow the figure to be posed in flight mode.

Movie Monster Series Mania

A plethora of figures from Bandai’s popular “Movie Monster Series” line have been revealed. Highlights include: Godzilla (2023); Flower Beast Form Biollante; Hedorah (1971) Landing Stage, crawling version; Bagan, based on the design from Godzilla Movie Studio Tour; Hedorah (1971) Flying Stage; Godzilla (1955); Anguirus (1955); Minilla (1967); and Godzilla (1964). Some of these figures can be pre-ordered through the official US Godzilla Store website, with a cut-off date of November 5th, 2023, while others can be found on the Japanese Godzilla Store site.

Return of Guyferd

Maquette replicas of the cyborg hero Guyferd from the 1996 Japanese tokusatsu television show of the same name are currently on sale on the Japanese Godzilla Store website for a limited time. These handmade maquettes are sculpted by Toru Saegusa, who also worked on TV maquettes at the time of the show’s airing.

Super7 Releases

Figures of Godzilla, Rodan and Gigan, based on 1970’s vintage toys, are available on Super7’s website. Likewise, glow-in-the-dark variants of their Toho ReAction Godzilla (1974) and Megalon figures were also revealed. Mondo Goes Super

Dropped on the day of Godzilla’s 69th anniversary, Mondo has revealed a “Super” variant of their SpaceGodzilla figure that is currently available on the US Godzilla Store website. According to the product description, “fans of ’90s video games may especially enjoy this figure’s colorway for evoking the look of a certain Super Godzilla from the 16-bit era.”

Other Mondo reveals include the timed exclusive “Godzilla Heat Ray Variant” by Urban Aztec, a silver variant of Mechagodzilla (1974), a tri-colored variant of their King Ghidorah tiki mug, and vinyl releases for the Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla (1994) and Godzilla 2000: Millennium (1999) original motion picture soundtracks. BOSS Coffee | Godzilla

A new BOSS Coffee advertisement celebrating 70 years of Godzilla has been uploaded online. A replica of the 1954 Godzilla suit is also used in certain scenes.

 

Shin Godzilla: ORTHOchromatic

The black-and-white version of Shin Godzilla (2016), referred to as Shin Godzilla: ORTHOchromatic (シン・ゴジラ:オルソ), was headlined during the Godzilla Fest 2023 livestream. This stylized version of the original movie, proposed by Hideaki Anno and supervised by director Shinji Higuchi and associate director Katsuro Onoue, received a limited theatrical showing in late October in Japan. However, the movie is in consideration for “future developments,” and further news will be released at another time. A brief post about the status of the movie can be seen below.

 

Godzilla Voxel Wars

The latest Godzilla game featuring stylized takes on Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah and more is now available to play on PC via Steam. A trailer for the game and a link to the Steam purchase page can be found below:

 

Godzilla Battle Line Summit

Two new playable units were revealed for the mobile game: Super Mechagodzilla, a 4-star unit with great power and attack range; and an alternate version of Godzilla (1954), another 4-star unit which is capable of nullifying nearly all status-related effects. Super Mechagodzilla’s teaser can be seen in the post below.
